I had michigan water come out to my house to replace my reverse osmosis filters and service my water conditioning equipment because I had a bad smell in my water. They were quick, efficient and did a very quality job, especially in cleaning up their mess afterward. The technician quickly identified the problem and suggested to replace my iron filter tank. He left and came back within 2 hours and disassembled my system and then installed it back in within a 45 minutes. While the technician was working, he did not mind me watching him while he worked. Michigan Water and it's employees have done and outstanding job and their customer service is completely polite and outstanding. I would also like to add that they came out on a Saturday for me even though they are not open on Saturdays.

I have worked with Michigan Water on several occasions and have found them extremely knowledgeable and responsive.  I rented a softener at the first home and eventually purchased it, then purchased another unit for my next house because I knew how the product performed.  The quality of the water that comes out of these softeners is amazing.  We have never had any staining of clothing or plumbing fixtures and no odor from the well water either.
They have several very qualified installation teams that have been able to install RO systems and softeners in a couple of tricky locations.  They have always been prompt, courteous and professional.  I have stopped in with questions and talked to the owner directly.  She is incredibly knowledgeable, someone you immediately know you can trust, and has been in this business all of her life. If you are in the Detroit area, but not on 'city water' and in need of a softener, DEFINITELY go with an Aqua Twin, and contact Michigan Water. If you are in the Detroit area anyplace, get an RO system, and I recommend from Michigan Water.  I grew up on Detroit City water, and until I experienced truly clean and odor free water, I didn't realize what I was missing.  It’s a small investment to clean the water you drink, when it will have such a huge benefit.

UPDATE: When I contacted them to relocate the softener and the RO system to our new home, I made the mistake of not talking to the owner directly.  I was quoted: $100/hr for labor plus any parts/materials necessary to complete the work.  I scheduled the work and they showed up promptly with two techs.
They removed the system quicklky and were off to the new home within an hour or so.  Upon arriving at the new house, they discovered I needed a couple of shutoff valves and a minor amount of copper plumbing (approx 8-10' total for source and return with 4 elbows and some minor fittings - nothing crazy or long distance)
One worked on the softener while the other worked on the RO (which also required some of the small/cheap plastic tubing (the same quality you find at any hardware store)  again, not that much material so I didn't anticipate a large bill from the total amount of material they needed to provide.
Upon completeing the softener, they had spent approximately 3 hours.  They turned the water back on and just about EVERY copper fitting started spraying water everywhere, which then required the more experienced tech to redo everything the other one had done (which took another hour worth of time).  Total time: 4 hrs.

Here's where I have the major issue:  They write the order up, and the bill comes to a WHOPPING: $1300.
$425 labor
(even though they would have been done in 3 hours if they hadn't botched the plumbing the first time)
$140 RO tank (this was my fault, I finished the basement around the old one..whoops)
$90 service fee ( never disclosed - apparently a new fuel fee for their trucks)
$275 installation fee ( never disclosed - would have remembered starting out with almost 3 hours worth of labor!)
$150 for those bypass valves (I cant find for more than $25 ANYWHERE, even plumbing supply stores)
$200 in misc 'materials' (surprising how fast those little $1.50 to $2.00 parts add up.. hmm)
$32 in salt (2 bags of special salt - pellet salt isn't good enough, even though they said my media looked brand new)

I tried working with the owner who NEVER called me back over 4-5 attempts, then sent a 'detailed' bill I was promised to the WRONG address (never received), and it wasn't until I filed a $500 dispute with them through my credit card company, that I received a copy of it from my bank with the wrong address on it.  They certainly took the time to respond to the dispute, but never once did they pick up the phone and call me back over all the messages, attempts to contact and finally the billing dispute.

Very frustrated with the office assistant that didn't tell me about any of the fees they intended to charge even though I remember asking: "So if they work for 3 hours, the bill will be $300?".  That would have been a GREAT opportunity to say something like; "Well, there's a $275 serv fee plus a $90 charge to get a truck to your house".  Nice one guys.
Apparently you now need to WATCH THESE GUYS and get a quote in WRITING so you won't be caught with misc. extra "FEE'S" and crazy prices for materials.

Sorry Michigan Water Conditioning - You had plenty of opportunity to return my calls and talk to me directly after all the business I've referred to you as well as purchased directly.

"(Member name), your position has changed since 11/16/2012. When we completed the job in your home you gave us an A rating which is what we strive for. Your credit only allowed part payment. It took 90 days to approve the balance, you disputed the charges. Your credit card company upheld our claim. I sent you a detailed list of all the charges. You approved all these items you signed the completed work order. There were no call backs on the work performed. On January 2013 you withdrew and changed your rating."

The installers showed up on time and began assessing the job.  They didn't waste any time getting started and had the old tank out very quickly.   They installed my two tank system very professionally and even re-routed the overflow drain to empty into our sump area to prevent my basement from being flooded in the event of a system failure.

They were very helpful and went above and beyond.  I am a repeat customer already and highly recommend them.  The Aqua Twin dual tank Water Softener is the best system I have ever found.  Highly Recommend them.

Michigan Water installed a water filtration system that was designed to remove manganese and iron from our well water. The purchase was a lease that included service for the length of lease agreement which was set up for 60 payments. 50% of the amount was for potential service and 50% went towards the cost of the system and installation. On two different occasions I had a catastrophic failure of the system that was installed. The first event was caused by Michigan Water installers not ensuring that the plastic tubing that carries water above the system was tied down. It rubbed against the concrete wall and flooded my basement. When I called for service they stated that it was after hours and they could not get anyone out until the next day. I was forced to call out a plumber and pay him to fix their mistake. I also lost pressure and could not get them to come out without any additional charge. The plumber who fixed the problem said that the water softener installers installed the system wrong. When he finished there was more pressure than we had enjoyed since the system was installed. I have tried to communicate with a representative from their company for 11 months while withholding the final 6 payments. When I explained these shortcomings to their billing representative they refused to negotiate a reduction in the service expense of the system. I could retain the system for $485.00, but that would include nearly $200.00 in service fees that they refused to render. It is working well after a plumber fixed their installation miscues, but I told them that on principal I could no longer pay for service that they would not provide, and rather than give them any more money I have scheduled for them to remove the system.  It will be more money for me to have a new system installed but I could just not see helping a company make more money that refused to meet their obligations. I hope I have done enough to prevent someone else from going through the problems I have.

After an extensive search, I could not find a water-softening solution that would not require me to pay quite a bit more than I "owed" on the system from Michigan Water.  I strongly feel that Michigan Water acted in bad faith concerning our agreement and in their shoddy installation, but I cannot afford the time to pursue a legal settlement. In the end it was more expedient to pay the balance. I hope that through this listing I can warn others and allow the greater public to deliver the justice to this unreliable company that I could not.

My system was leaking and the water was cloudy. The service people came out two days  after I called at the scheduled time. They spent most of the day rebuilding my system. They  were very pleasant and cleaned up the entire area after they preformed their work.  They called  the next week for a follow up.  I am now very pleased with the quality of the water.

Overall the experience went well.  The employees that were spoke with were extremely professional, friendly, and  very helpful answering all  questions and easing concerns.  The help was appreciated and the technician got the system up and running without a lot of money being involved.
