RE: TIME
WARP ANTIQUES JUNE 18, 2015
We were
greeted as though we had just stepped off an alien space ship and were treated
in a manner we considered quite rude for the entire time we were there. I was
very ill at the time and my wife is severely handicapped so we requested a
couple of chairs while they perused the items we brought for their evaluation. They
acted as though we were the first and only customers who had ever made such an
outlandish request and they took there time in producing the two chairs. It was
downhill from there. Not only did the owner and chief evaluator denigrate piece
after piece we had brought, but he did so in the most disparaging manner
possible. It was as though he was trying to make us feel as inferior as he possible.
We can certainly
understand it if he found our offerings unacceptable; after all, his livelihood
depends upon purchasing antiques and collectables of high quality that he can
resell at a profit and if he doesn't feel that we had anything of that nature
to offer, we wouldn't expect him to buy anything from us. HOWEVER, he is a
businessman and, as such, is reliant on the good will of his customers and the
community at large. To assure this, one would expect the owner of such an
establishment to treat ALL his visitors with decency and respect. It was our
experience that, at least in this regard, his attitude and actions leave a
great deal to be desired.
In one
instance, he insisted that one of our figurines was resin, not porcelain. My
wife did extensive research in the Internet, proving the figurine in question
was in fact porcelain, and one identical to it had just sole at a high-end
auction house for over $100. She was asking only $20 for it from "Time
Warp."

Everything there has been great. We've been shopping there probably for almost four years now.

I was not a client of Time Warp. I was a customer at one of their estate sales.
After frequenting estae sales for several months, I was becoming quite disillusioned at the business practices that so many estate sale companies employ. I was beginning to wonder if skimming the best product for their own antique stores wasn't the norm. Several times, after having waited in line for hours and being one of the first customers in the door, I was told the items I was expecting to find had been sold. I had even driven to estate sales only to find that the address is actally an antique shop. I was about to give up. That was, until I met the affable and honest Steve.
At the end of a conversation in regards to a piece of jewelry I had purchased at one of their sales, Steve said "If I wasn't running this sale, I would purchase that piece for my own shop". In other words, Steve doesn't do what so many other estate sale companies are doing. If Time Warp advertises that an item is available and you are willing to arrive early, the item will be there. These folks run clean estate sales.
These folks understand their business and know their product. In fact, Steve knew the value of every item I looked at. Lastly, he also seems to understand that by doing business in an honest manner, his reputation and business will continue to grow. I certainly hope so.
