Matt came out and gave the estimate.  I spoke with him briefly and when he needed access to the basement I sent my 30 year old daughter into the basement with him as with my bad knee's it's difficult for me to go into the basement; Matt needed to see where the current water meter was inside of the basement.  I over heard Matt asking my daughter if she was dating anyone, if she had kids etc.,  I was pretty disgusted with him but he was just the estimator, not the person doing the work and my daughter was 30 and can handle herself but with this degree of unprofessionalsm it should have been a clue. The day came for the  work to be done and there was issues from the beginning.  The crew wasn't going to be able to do the job as Matt had stated it would be done.  I do have a Michigan basement with stone walls but Matt indicated that wouldn't be an issue and explained how it would be done.  The crew stated that Matt does this all the time to them and they couldn't do the job how Matt stated it would be done.  It took over an hour but the crew leader was able to come up with a way to bore through the rocks, place the new water meter where it needed to be put, and run the new water line.  I felt sorry for these guys b/c it was a lot of mucking around in the beginning.
The estimate included a plumber to come out and connect up the new water meter.  There was a bit of a delay in his coming b/c he was at another job but he finally arrived.  Because the job was in the basement and there were some questions, I briefly had to go into the basement with my 30 year old daughter.  After the job was done the plumber stayed talking to my 30 year old.  My 14 year old comes into the house telling me the plumber was flirting with her.  Seriously???  These old farts were approximately 20 years older than her! Once the job was done I noted that where the holes had been dug and then covered up dirt weren't level.  I didn't like the looks of the humped up dirt in my driveway and at the end of the driveway close to the street.  I was told it would "settle".  On Thanksgiving day I go outside to see the front of my truck dropped down into a sink hole.  I backed my truck up and out of the hole.  The next day the sink hole had tripled in size.  I called Waldorf but they didn't answer and there wasn't a way to leave a message.  I spoke with my brother and he suggested I call the local police department as city hall was closed.  I called the police and they contacted Al from the city water department.  Al called me immediately and said he'd swing by to take a look.  He arrived and felt that I didn't have a water leak but the ground was settling.
On Monday morning, Nov 30th,  I called Waldorf and spoke with a receptionist who was very pleasant and quickly found my info, stating she'd have Matt call me.   I never received a call back so called Waldorf on Tuesday, Dec 1st; it was a different person that I spoke to.  She was very rude and unprofessional stating " Are you sure Matt didn't call you?"  "Are you sure the job was under your last name?"  I got very frustrated with her and asked her to quit interrupting me and to put her listening ears on to which she responded "I was having a nice day until you called".   I asked to speak to a manager or company owner (later found out she is the sister to the guy that owns Waldorfs) and she became very belligerent.  About 10 minutes later Matt returns my call; I told him about the problem with the sink hole and with the office staff.  Matt stated he was in the area for another job and would be over shortly.   Matt looked at the sink hole, indicating it shouldn't have happened and further stated he didn't like how the crew had left my driveway.  I agreed, stating I never was happy with how the driveway was no longer level.
Matt stated that they had another job "over on Walnut" and would be over then to take care of my driveway.  After a week passed and after not hearing from Matt further, I sent my 14 year old out with a shovel and a garden rake to deal with the sink hole.  It was crazy that we couldn't park in our driveway b/c of the sink hole.  The driveway still isn't level but at least we can park on it, thanks to my 14 year old.  Today, Dec 10th, Matt finally calls to say they are here to work on my driveway.  I told him my 14 year old worked on it so that we could finally parked in the driveway and he stated why did you do that, "I said we'd be over".  That was the final straw for me, regarding the unprofessionalism at Waldorf's.  It is totally inappropriate that it was expected that I not use my driveway and for them to show up whenever they were in the neighborhood to fix my driveway that they left a mess and now with a very large sink hole (approximately 12 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 10 inches deep).   Not only won't I use them for a sewer job that needs to be done, this spring, I won't recommend them to anyone!
