"We called Holland Heating for a new furnace because ours went out the night before. We had previously gotten our air conditioner from them several years ago and had a great experience so we used them again. The salesman arrived promptly, was very professional and great to work with. He scheduled the new furnace to be installed the next day - which was a Saturday at no extra charge. Our job number is RA511081 and on 11-8-25 Kirk and Logan showed up and worked hard all day to install our new furnace. Kirk and Logan are very friendly to work with and they did a great professional job. They kept us up to date on the status as they worked. They are even great with the dog...I highly recommend Holland Heating and Logan and Kirk if you have any HVAC needs. Rachel Putnik"

Heating Oil questions, answered by experts

For most systems, an annual HVAC system service is more than enough. Some homeowners prefer a twice-a-year visit to ensure the system is ready for the upcoming summer and winter seasons. If you need to call an HVAC pro more often than this, it may be time to check if your system is getting old enough for a replacement.

NATE-certified technicians may charge slightly higher service fees compared to non-certified technicians. This is because NATE certification signifies a higher level of expertise and professionalism, often leading to more efficient and effective HVAC repairs and installations. While the upfront cost may be marginally higher, NATE-certified technicians can potentially save you money in the long run by reducing energy consumption, preventing frequent breakdowns, and extending the life span of your HVAC system. When looking for a local HVAC company to hire, it never hurts to ask about NATE certifications.

Your HVAC manufacturer will give you instructions on how often you should service your system. Have your unit professionally serviced at least once a year when in doubt.

Heat pump systems are different because they provide heating and cooling solutions for your home. In this case, you should have it serviced at least twice a year.

Most HVAC companies charge a flat service call fee of between $75 and $150, which includes traveling to your home and inspecting your system to find the underlying problem. Keep in mind that these prices only include diagnostics and the actual repairs will usually be billed separately. If you’re calling for routine service, the service call will be included in your inspection and tune-up, with the total sitting around $150. Your prices could be a little higher if you have a very large home with multiple condensers and air handlers, as inspections and servicing take longer.

Regular inspections, loop flushing, and checking heat exchangers help extend system lifespan.
