Concrete Driveway Service
J. Allen ripped out my old, deteriorating blacktop driveway the first week of May, 2012. They added gravel and regraded the bed so the new driveway would slope and drain correctly after a rain. Then they put in the new blacktop. They did a beautiful job. But there were problems.
We kept all cars off the driveway for a month as suggested. But after two weeks we noticed that the hose reel was denting the blacktop. In mid June my husband's Fusion was denting the blacktop from parking on the driveway. I called J. Allen three times to get someone to talk to about these problems. In late summer J. Allen returned and with a blowtorch heated up the dents to raise the areas and suggested that I get it sealed for protection. Which I did. In January I noticed chunks of blacktop were breaking out along the cement apron of the patio. Small stones were coming out. Cracks were appearing. By April we were noticing a fish scale effect in some areas and grass was pushing up through the blacktop. Several places looked as if rust were occurring.
I called J. Allen in Feb, March, and April and left messages before I finally got the receptionist who said someone would call me that day about the problem. No one called. In May my husband called and had to leave a message, too. But he was called back. Nate Allen came to the house, saw the problems, felt it was the quality of the material used, as did we, and would have the owner of the company who supplies the blacktop out the followingTuesday. Monday night I received an email telling us that the owner had to go to a conference and couldn't make it. "Sorry for the late notice. I'll get back to you when he returns."
Three weeks later I emailed Nate regarding when will they come. No response. My husband called and left a message. No return call.
It is now late June, 2013, and the driveway is embarrassing to us after $5,000. J. Allen does not respond to calls nor support their guarantee for satisfaction. We are very dissatisfied andI do not recommend them to anyone.
