Description of Work
First visit I needed new brakes, they were installed in a very timely manner. Staff is so nice! 2nd time I went in for a brake light replacement. That bill was less than $6. Never Ever had that happen before!

They were awesome. I dropped off my car on Tuesday evening and left my keys in their dropbox (so convenient) and they called me the next morning with recommended work. They even said that some work could wait until winter, but we went ahead an did everything to get it out of the way now. All the work was completed in about 24 hours. It was easy and I never felt like they were trying to sell services that I didn't need. I'll definitely go back there in the future.

100,000 mile check up. The car ended up needing 2 new tires, rotation, and alignment. Also, new spark plugs, air filter, and coolant replacement.

Service was good, and done in a timely manner. I used the convenient drop-off box to take my car there before the shop opened, and picked up car by noon. They are very responsive and answer the phone quickly, which isn't always the case at some garages. Have to give kudos to them as they actually referred me to another service provider a month prior to this work being done, and they saved me $300. Any place that tells you another place can do it cheaper (transmission work) deserves future business. Honesty is definitely rewarded and a welcome attribute when dealing with service providers. The only slightly negative thing is it took 4 days to get my car in, but what would you expect when dealing with a garage that does honest work at an honest price? Thanks Steve Steeb!

Just did a repair for my Honda Accord 1998. Like the guys at the moment I walked in. I researched the prices and time needed to perform disc brake and caliper change - after my repair was done (unfortunately). They charged almost double what this kind of work including parts should be. Can't comment much on quality, so far brakes are working fine. So, if you like to overpay for your service - it's might be a good option for you, otherwise I would stay away.

This "customer" and his car do not appear on either my hand-written schedule or in my customer invoice data base. I had hoped Angie's List might pull this review when I pointed out this fact to my Angie's List salesperson, but they haven't. So I will respond since the stated facts are incorrect. We are a NAPA Auto Care Center and an ASE Blue Seal shop so we have only highly-skilled, Nationally Certified technicians working on cars. We typically use premium parts when there is a choice and we feel there is a legitimate difference in the quality which we feel our customers would notice. Quality parts alone for the job cited in this review would be around $436.00 without any labor, supplies or tax. Had we actually performed this repair (remember, I don't believe we have ever seen the car so I am not certain of what was actually needed) I would suspect the bill would be in the $650.00 - 700.00 range with wheels torqued, brakes bled and new parts road tested and bedded-in. So if you want a shop that considers your safety and the quality of the work above the price; you should probably still consider us.

He is very reliable, trustworthy and honest. I have been taking my vehicles not him for the past 10 years. He saves you money when ever he can. He finds the problem and explains to you the best options.

We have dealt with Steeve Steeb on several previous occasions. This last event was very routine, but on the previous occasions he has recommended that we go to other, more specialized, service providers for brakes, tires, electrical, or 4wd drivetrain work. (I believe that he can actually do all, or most, of the above, but that he sends us where he thinks the others will be better, cheaper, and/or faster than he can be. This is a very unusual, and, for me, a highly valued work ethic in the automotive repair arena. He's very interesting to talk to, and extremely straightforward about the task(s) at hand on the vehicle. So, it seems, are all of his "sidekicks" there.

I brought my car in because I noticed it was leaking a lot of oil. After looking at the car they told me it looked like the valve cover gasket was bad and a bolt was pretty loose on the cover as well. I also had them put a muffler strap on since my old one rusted out. They also changed the belt which needed to be replaced as well. Due to the amount of oil on the engine I was expecting to have to replace several gaskets costing me a lot more money. Steve was very honest and only had my replaced the one gasket. Other shops would probably have tried to charge me more because of the nature of the leak. Steve was very honest and even asked me to bring the car back after a few weeks so he could check the leak again. My father has used steve for years and never has had a problem. I would highly recommend his service. He also had my car fixed the very next day I was expecting it to take a few days at least.

Car was making loud low-pitched whine at highway speeds, problem diagnosed and repaired (u-joints), as well as general overall maintenance. Advised changing transmission fluids next year. Never pushy about adding other services not needed at the time. Shop is busy, so you need to schedule in advance.

I have been taking my cars to Steve Steeb Service for over 15 yrs. He will offer an honest assessment of what needs to be done on the cars, what can wait, and great sense of humor. We have had a variety of work performed on our cars, and he gave honest opinions of used cars we planned to purchase. My children are older now and they use Steve Steeb Service for their auto needs.

My daughter's car quit unexpectedly at an intersection in Ann Arbor, and we had it towed to Steve Steeb based on the reviews on Angie's list, and we were not disappointed. They had a very full schedule, but did squeeze it in. They were honest and very, very fair in their pricing. If we ever have trouble with my daughter's car again in Ann Arbor, we will definitely return to Steve Steeb!

It turned out great. He is friendly and is really great. He gives me an honest opinion and if he cannot fix it, he does not charge me for it and also does not charge for looking just over my car. He is very fair with his pricing and he calls me back when it is done. I would refer anybody and everybody to him; he is marvelous.

It did not go well. When I got there, the place was very primitive and small. The only cars in the lot were domestic cars and I almost changed my mind. He had my car all day and found nothing wrong with it. I had a rattle in the back so he fixed that, as I was driving home it started again and I took my car to the dealer and they fixed the rattle, because I needed new bushings. He could not diagnosis the cars problem. It was a hassle because it was a waste of the whole day.

Having Steve and his guys work on my van is the first totally positive experience I've had working with a mechanic. Everyone was honest and the estimate was thorough. They got my van done on time and charged what I was quoted and they didn't down talk to me because I'm a woman.
Description of Work
I had a whining noise under the hood to the left and the van started shaking when I drove over about 30 mph. I know nothing about cars and the last mechanic I went to (the dealer) was obviously a con man, so I decided to try Steve.

We have been taking our cars to Steve Steeb for about 5 years and will continue to do so because the service is fantastic.Steve and his team are always honest about what needs to be done, what can wait, and what we can skip altogether. They have never charged to investigate a problem or come up with an estimate. Most recently, in late October we took the car there for an oil change and to get a weird noise checked out. We were leaving the next day for a 2,000 mile drive. They told us that the A/C blower unit was responsible for part of the sound, and that the brakes were basically wiggling side-to-side in a not dangerous way for the other part of the sound. They went on to say that even though it was just the A/C we needed to get it fixed before the trip because the car's engine relied on the power of the belt in the A/C blower. They also told us that they don't repair A/C units, but they referred us to another shop that does and helped us get an appointment that day. Steve didn't charge us anything for the investigation, and told us it was more important for us to get the A/C unit replaced than have his shop fix the breaks, which could wait weeks or months.That is typical of service there. Honest, prompt, above and beyond the call of duty helpful. After the trip, we took the car back to them to get the brakes fixed.

Steve himself answers the phone and checks you in and out. Like that this is a small local business. He was originally recommended by someone but I never used him until I read the reviews on Angie's list. I would definitely use him again and have already recommended him! I am glad to finally find a good mechanic!

I brought in my 2003 Jeep Liberty because I drive it more in the winter and the check engine light had been on for awhile and it was starting to make a loose engine noise. Steve pulled codes and fixed the throttlle and replaced some hoses and replaced the serpentine belt for around $300. A dealer in the area quoted me $500.00 to fixed just one of these things.

I called Steve based on his Angie's list ratings and his distance from my home. I had to wait several days to get my car in, but thought it worth taking the bus if he was good and honest like the ratings said. He was. He fixed my car, we had a small communication breakdown but he responded to the situation in an amazing way.

I had problems with squeaking fan belt(s) after a routine maintenance job at another shop which couldn't seem to fix it.. I took it to another shop which charged me $47.86 just to look at it and said that I needed to have the power steering pump changed for $450.00. when I took it to Steve's shop they just tightened my belts for $21.91. I was so happy I gave the mechanic a tip! Excellent service and friendly people!

After I had my timing belt and other belts changed as a routine maintenance job at another shop my belts wouldn't stop squeaking and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I then went to another shop in Ann Arbor who charged me $47.86 just to look at it and then said that I needed to replace the power steering pump- a job that was estimated to cost $450.00. When I took it toSteve Steeb Sevice they fixed it for $21.91 saying that I just had a loose belt. It's been 3 wks now and I haven't had a problem with my belts squeaking. I would highly recommend this shop.

He recommended the Cabin Air Filter be replaced but I thought 50 way too expensive and declined. He said ok we'll clean it and put it back in. When I changed it myself later (in 2 minutes for 12) it was full of leaves and debris. I thought 75 for an oil change was way too much but decided to try them based on a few Angies's List reviews (MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL THE REVIEWS) and his assurance on the phone that they check everything thoroughly. In the end their checklist wasn't any more comprehensive than other places I've been. The check boxes for oil, filter, air filter, and cabin air filter were left blank. Neither Replaced nor OK were checked. It feels uncertain. I can get uncertainty at any other place for a lot less cost. The brakes seem fine and I can see that the pads and rotors were indeed changed.

He fits me in for appointments convenient to me. He is very honest and supportive. He did an evaluation and assured me that my tie-rod would be ok for another couple of days and then scheduled an appointment to take care of it. He has been honest in doing only necessary work or none when he says the car is good to go. I know I can count on him and trust his judgement.

I took my car there for service originally for an evaluation for necessary repairs. I had a leak. I've been back more than once since then. Another time for a tie-rod and flushing of the cooling system.

Steve and his guys did a wonderful job with my car. Steve provided me with an estimate that was very accurate, and they performed the work when they said they would. Steve seems like a very honest guy. The price of the work wasn't too low, but considering the quality of their work, their professionalism, and especially the fact that they seem like trustworthy guys, I think the price was more than worth it. I will definitely take my car to Steve in the future whenever it needs work.

I called Steve about service on my foreign car. He answered my email within minutes, and then we spoke over the phone. While he does not (at the current time) provide service for my car, he did give me the name of a great mechanic in town who does. He was delightful - honest and straightforward. I can see why he has such high ratings.

Great experience. I sat on a chair to the side and looked up at a race car's undersides which I later learned belonged to the owner. Just the type place I am looking for, with an owner who is personally involved with his business. Steve also recommended just putting high grade gas in the car on the trip, helping to clean the engine, rather than buying a fancy product and dumping it in, also commenting that as often as not the mid grade gas is actually the higher grade anyway. I'll go back if there's anything I need looked at.

They got me in last minute on a busy day right before I was leaving to go on a 5 hour trip, and they did the diagnostics for free. I was concerned about my engine running rough. Steve assured me it checked out fine and was completely safe to drive, pointed out a gasket(?) that was dirty and might have a positive effect if it was cleaned, so, at $50, I decided to go ahead. I liked being right there in the shop where I could see the work being done, knowing exactly what they were doing.
