Didn't think they were professional.

I was a little apprehensive about using this company for handyman work after what I expected to be about 3 hours of work, was estimated at 9 hours. I went ahead and booked them though, thinking that they probably just didn't want to commit to work they may not be able to complete and were just very heavily overestimating, using some kind of predetermined generic estimate guide. I knew enough about what would be required to do the work to trust my own estimate over theirs, but I have to admit that it made me start out being very mistrustful. In the end, the workman was excellent. He knew exactly what to do and how to do it, and finished all the work within 3 hours. He even taught me a thing or two. I would definitely use them again for work I knew something about. I don't know if I could trust an estimate from them on work that I personally didn't know anything about, fearing that they may be way off.

Bob from JW did an outstanding job. Expectations were exceeded. We love the work.

We had to have the insulation in the crawl space removed and replaced. A really dirty job. Angel came in a did a great job, was very efficient and didn't waste time.

I have used JW before on various handyman services on my rental properties but it has been probably 2 years since so I did not remember their hourly rate. I was given different information at the time of scheduling the estimate of the job and the project manager I spoke with wanted to go through the phone recordings to verify this. I have no issues of him doing so since I was not lying about being told incorrect information on the minimum hours for a job or that they would honor a current promotion going on, but for him to do so makes it feels like the customer is not always right and only extended me this one exception because there of the recording and. Customer service is obviously not a strong suit for JW nor do they care to retain any past customers. Their pricing is the same as other companies so if you want a more professional company, go elsewhere.

I never let them perform the work because he arrived one hour late and then when he got there, basically told me that they couldn't do the work in the time frame and made it very difficult. I fully understand that I have several projects but rather than working w/ me, he just said what they couldn't do. Even went so far as to say he didn't have supplies... It was pretty remarkable. Wouldn't recommend them for anything. The one positive is the two women I spoke with that answered the companies phone could not have been any nicer and they tried to be helpful.

Great. There was a tiny problem but ED made the correction and also gave me a gift card for $106. ED want above and beyond to see the job was done properly. FRANCISCO was the worker and he was terrific. I would definitely hire them again. And I'm almost ready top.

Jason and Chris installed the lighting and the bathroom cabinet. They arrived exactly on time, and quickly got to work. I had purchased the main equipment (cans, downlights and dimmer switch) and I showed them where I wanted the lights installed. They worked very quickly, first moving our furniture and covering it, then the installation. After installation they painted the ceiling and wall. They finished in about half the time I expected. So I asked them to install a bathroom cabinet I had purchased and intended to install. They carted away all debris and left me the surplus equipment I had purchased. Fernando and Jesus also arrived on time. I showed them the railings and together we looked for paint remnants I had kept from past paint jobs for the right color. They went off and bought the right color and type of paint (exterior, for metal). Then they stripped off all flaking paint and sanded rust spots. They got to work (needed a ladder as the exterior deck barrier is about 15' off the ground). Once they had finished the deck they painted the garden barrier -- all very professional, well done, and they also left the place neat and tidy. I was really impressed with the work. It's true we have in the past found workmen cheaper than JW Home Improvement, but my experience (it's the second time we've used them) is that the extra money is really worth it: in terms of quality of the work, cleanliness, and professionalism. I will certainly use them again. Thanks Justin, Chris, Fernando and Jesus.

The estimator arrived on time. Initially the estimator was very friendly but later the estimator got angry and blew me off. Did not give me an estimate. Did not bother to tell me where his anger was coming from. Very rude young man.

Based on the verbal estimate the price was twice as high as other quotes we received.

Very professionally done. The handyman arrived on time, was well prepared and did a quality job. He reinforced the drywall seams with extra screws, taped the seam, applied drywall "mud," primed and painted the areas. Made sure that the paint blended well and cleaned up when he was completed.

Not well. They agreed to refund a site inspection fee when I canceled the appointment they agreed to refund their $75 site inspection fee. Never got that refund.

Estimate provided promptly, work started and ended on time, great job. Was able to adjust work to stay within budget. After work started I asked to limit finishing work and instead perform electrical work within the same budgeted time.

We had the work done quite a while ago so unfortunately I don't remember everything that was done. What I can tell you is that that Josh was the estimator who we spoke with about what we needed to be done. He was very responsive and knowledgeable. Wilfredo was the technician who came out to do the work. Everything went very well and they were able to get most of what we wanted done in the time we had. What I am most impressed with however is the follow-up we have received. Quite a while after the work was done, Matt called to see how everything went. I told him that we were having trouble with some work that was done to a door (door sweep) in that we could no longer lock or unlock the door without difficulty (I had been planning to call but hadn't gotten around to it). Matt offered to have someone come out to try to fix the issue. That weekend, Angel came out, fixed the door and it's been working properly ever since. I would definitely use their services again. The only thing I'm sorry about is that it took me so long to write this review.

They did a fantastic job. Glenn and Wilder (sp?) were great. The job went over the quoted price but that was partially because we agreed to some of the great ideas Glenn had to make the project better. Only gave professionalism a B because daily clean up could have been better. Will definitely use them again.

HOW on earth has this company received all these positive reviews? My experience with them has been TERRIBLE. The estimator arrived and took pictures of the deck. He then sat himself down in my living room and alternately talked to me and into a recorder (as if to cover his backside) in terms of the estimate. I have a VERY small deck. 2 or 3 boards need to be replaced because the dogs have been clawing at them and the whole thing needs to be washed and repainted. When the estimate got to me there was a swing of approx $400 in terms of what the job would cost me. And, I was fairly sure that I would end up being charged the higher end of the range. I emailed them twice for clarification on what I regarded as an unreliable estimate and finally had to call them. She found my emails right away, put me on hold and said she would ring back. In the meantime the power washer called me to find out how big my deck is as he was coming tomorrow. I will be contacting Angie's list to refund the big deal and also my credit card to get the deposit (that I should NOT have paid) refunded. They seem untrustworthy and disreputable to me. I won't do business with them this time or in the future.

Excellent; did the job without trying to add on unnecessary items.

The JW Home Improvement engineers went to work and completed the above tasks very efficiently with outstanding results. Water problem in the kitchen sink, next to the dishwasher, was diagnosed which required a hole cut in the hall bathroom to re-align the pipes, ending a problem which could have gotten much worse. (There is no one in my building who would have known how to handle). I am grateful to JWHI for assigning me two excellent and very knowledgeable men to take on the work assignments and knock them out in a focused and professional manner. Thank you.

I did have to pay for parts but I can't remember how much more. It was good work. They guy was on time and he was polite. He did what he was suppose to do. It was a good first impression.

I think it was a difficult job to do and they did a good job. My windows are vinyl windows that are wrapped and they didn't disturb any of that while they replaced the rotted wood.

Disappointing and over-priced. PRICE The job cost nearly twice the estimate. There were no changes to the original plan and no materials upgrade. BILLING PRACTICES Billing is out of control. Inexplicable charges for random materials appeared on the bill. The bill was sent several times with "corrections" and each time new errors crept in adding more to the cost. Materials were not itemized. By comparing each invoice to previous versions I noticed that materials from another job had cropped up on one of my invoices—which was quickly charged to my card before the project had been approved. I was charged for nearly an entire day spent waiting for materials to be delivered. JWHI did partially resolve those excessive charges with a credit but they buried the original “stray” materials charge error in the bill. Lastly, I was charged to have the carpenter return to fix dripping along the attached side. It leaves me wondering how much I was cheated. WORKMANSHIP An excessive number of rafters were used but not enough cribbing. 3 months later the panels are now bowing and need additional support.

During the initial visit, Bob, a master carpenter, provided a thorough explanation of the options available for installation of crown moulding to in part address a crack near the ceiling/wall joint, and submitted a prompt estimate. On the day of installation, Bob returned with Alfredo, an assistant carpenter. They did an outstanding job installing the crown moulding. From set-up, to installation, to clean-up, their work was exceptionally professional. We are very pleased with the final result.

The team from JW Home Improvement did a fantastic job: from the beginning with Josh Metz, Project Consultant who did the initial estimate; Chris Mulligan, the Project Coordinator who did the scheduling; the outstanding team of Raymond and Chris who did the on-site repairs, and the young man who collected the post-construction debris for disposal in the rain, this firm is worthy of the highest rating as far as professionalism, knowledge, courtesy, willingness to take the extra step to insure that the entire job was not only completed, but completed far beyond the owner’s initial expectations. I would unhesitatingly use the services of JW Home Improvement and have (and had) no reservation in recommending this firm’s services to at least three of my neighbors.
