"I have to apologize for not finishing this review before now. Had large move to Tennessee and instead of what went wrong it was what couldn't go wrong. I've used a lot of contractors in the various places I've lived. There was a period of moving about once every two to three years. In fixing that needed it usually was minor stuff but in my current house for sale the previous owners combined 2 bedrooms into one large one to use as a master BR which was fine when we bought it during the last housing boom in 2000. We had to move due to be able to become primary care giver for my mother in law but her getting real sick and then suddenly passing away we were half way into the move and decided it was best to go forward with the sale and move. Our dilemma was the house was a two bedroom instead of a 3 bedroom. So I hired Jacob and Kevin to do the work, I loved the reviews so I contacted him for a bid. Best thing that I could have done during the whole ordeal. From the get go I got a real sense I had my man to do the work. He introduced himself with a consensual handshake ad after a few minutes of conversation I decided to hire him right there and then. The project was my wife's as she had some very specific things she wanted. During the whole job he consulted with us about problems and had very good advise that my wife was very grateful for. If you knew my wife this was the hardest part but was done with care, concern, and honesty. Can't get better than that. The bedroom came out gorgeous and we had him do other things to fix up the place. What a great team. Jacob and Keven cannot be praised enough and they are the kind of team you can give him directions, leave for a vacation in Hawaii and when you got back you would be completely blown away. What craftsmen. I swear he learned his trade from Norm and the boys from This Old House. My problem is how to say thank you so that it conveys my wife's and my gratitude. Simply saying thanks would never be enough. How do you let the world know about this talented young man and the quality of work he performs. I guess the best way for now is to give him 5 stars (10 if it were possible) and hope I have contributed a small thank you for what he has done. For me, if I were ever lucky enough to hit a sizeable lottery (keep in mind I have a better chance of getting stomped by a white Rhino in my driveway) I would totally back him with no reservations. I hope this does him some justice as I promised him a dissertation of praise. Again Jacob I'm so sorry that I was late in getting this done. Say hello to Kevin and all our best to both of you. You are a great craftsman my friend."

The average cost to hire a woodworker for a project in your home is around $65 per hour, but hourly rates can range from $35 to $250 or more, depending on the experience and skill of the woodworker. Your total woodworking project cost will depend on the complexity of the work, the type of wood, the number of projects, and any other materials your project requires. You could hire a professional woodworker to create everything from a custom cabinet to ornate, unique staircases.
Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.
Every woodworker has different skills and experience, so we recommend asking the following questions when hiring a woodworker for your project:
How long have you been in the woodworking industry?
What experience do you have with my type of project?
Do you have customer references I can speak with?
How long do you expect my project to take?
What is my recourse if I have an issue with your work?
Do you charge hourly or per project?
Will you work on-site or in your own workshop?
Does your fee include the necessary post-job clean-up?
While they perform similar tasks, a carpenter is responsible for the woodworking that goes into construction—like framing, installing sheathing, and hanging kitchen cabinets—while a woodworker tackles more intricate and custom projects—like building custom furniture and installing wainscoting. Based on these definitions, most woodworkers can tackle the jobs of a carpenter, but you should always ask about your specific project when choosing a woodworker to ensure they have the necessary skills to tackle the job.
It may seem simple to install trim, wainscoting, and other finishing wood in your home, but the work is complicated and often frustrating. Getting small trim pieces to line up evenly without gaps and look streamlined in a finished product is a real challenge for DIYers, even if you have the necessary tools. We recommend hiring a professional woodworker for these more intricate projects. They’ll get the job done more quickly, and they’ll have the experience necessary to make everything look neat and clean to add more value to your home.
