Sila was great - incredibly professional. It was amazing how much better they were than our previous heating company. We had to hire Sila to fix a problem with our boiler and they found numerous issues with the work others had done in our house. They were incredibly professional and good at what they do. The only complaint is they are expensive but you get what you pay for.

they came as scheduled , but said that couldn't do much to tune-up my system , becouse there is so many problems . Best if I replace the whole thing for 9 k dollars , or change some components for 3.5 k . I got scared , called another contractor for second opinion , it turned out it need 175 dol worth of work and it is all tune-up and ready for the season . Check-up, tune-up, and adjustment of settings on gas-fired boiler. Work was thorough, not rushed. Detailed all work performed and explained the needed adjustments as well as what to keep an eye on.

John from Sila was very friendly, just informed us that they would not be able to perform the service on our heating system.

Furnace cleaning & tune-up: excellent service

They came on time. The technician was nice and explained the process.

We hired Sila for doing an inspection of our heating system through the Angies List promotion. We just moved to this home and wanted to get ready before the winter. The technician, John, showed up on time (early in fact, which was great) and did a good job with the inspection. A tune up never is a tune up alone - as expected, he found some issues that he classified into must do and preventative. He gave a quote and he worked on the must do's immediately. Within three hours, he was done and he ensured everything was working well before he left. | |We did the tune up, changed a couple of valves. | |Some tips: |* When you sign up for the "tune up", be prepared for repairs that they are going to suggest that will cost you $$$$. They scare you enough by saying what will go wrong if we don't do the repairs, right then and there. (I am a mechanical engineer and the explanation scared me also). |* Also, they have two rates - to repair right then and there, or if we choose another day, which is way higher. | |Overall: Extremely courteous, very professional, punctual, know what they are doing.

The technician who came was fine, professional, and did a good job. That said, he found a problem that he felt was beyond his powers to fix. I have no problem with this; in fact, it's better that he admitted this than if he tried to do a service he wasn't comfortable with and caused a mess. He told me he would contact the home office (which I have no reason to believe he didn't do) and that they'd get back to me about the larger issue. They never did. A week later, I called to check up on this, they said they'd get back to me, and they never did. Eventually, I just went with a different company. If I have any issues in the future I will go with the different company, and NOT Sila.

The technician was very nice but was more of a sales man and told me the vent that vented the furnace outside (which was clearly broke) see email below: Valerie, I have attached the proposal for the replacement of your boiler and toilet. It needs a maintenance and the expansion tank, backflow preventor/auto feeder, pressure relief and air vent need to be replaced. Once the system is opened up and purged some other parts may need to be replaced as we discussed. Also the boiler was left off and is not safe to operate until the venting piping is repaired. The costs are as follows: (All repairs are parts cost plus labor at $180.00 per hour.) 1. Expansion tank, pressure relief, air vent, backflow preventor/auto feeder partscost is $537.50 (3-4 hours estimate) 2. Venting parts cost is $45.00 (1 hour estimate) 3. Additional problems found are extra. The cost to replace the toilet if the boiler is not replaced is a flat fee of $920.00. The cost of preventative maintenance on the boilers is $169.00 per system. I looked up the manual on your boiler and it is ok to vent the boiler with the 2" pipe. It will reduce the boiler output some but I don't think it is a problem. It may effect how fast the hot water recovers but if you haven't had any problems you should be ok. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Thanks again, John Bisesti He also was very critical of my furnace which was installed 3 years ago by a very professional company at 1/2 the price he is estimating for a furnace for my tenants apt. IF I was to replace my tenants furnace which I did have the vent repaired in 10 minutes by a licensed HVAC repairman for under 20.00 I would not pay their prices. I paid 1/2 of his proposal amount for my furnace (two family home) which is a high efficiency furnace that I got 1500. rebate for and runs beautifully. So I'm confused if this "Tune-Up was not just a reason to come by to look for business. By the way the furnace (tenants) is running beautifully no problems!

They got the work done on schedule and I have no complaints at all. They did a great job. Their proposal could have been more exact though, it didn't include about $900.00 of the electrical cost.

We are very pleased with this vendor and the workmanship. They did not give a strong sales pitch, so our expectations were fairly low for what we considered to be a compromise home cooling solution. So we were very pleasantly surprised with the results. Even during the hottest weeks this summer (>90 degrees) the system did not work hard to maintain the house at 73 degrees. (This might seem warm but with the low humidity of central air most folks wouldn't want to set it cooler). I have no doubt that the system could keep a cooler temperature if you set the thermostat lower. Although they promised to make 'balancing' adjustments if we found hot or cold spots in the house, we have not found it necessary to request this service. Again, this is not what we expected so we are pleased. As a matter of fact, the only post-installation request that we had pertained to compressor documentation which the company did provide after we requested it. The workers were very professional, explaining what they were doing every day, and did not seem to mind the 'sidewalk supervisor' behavior of the owners. They cleaned up each day such that you would be hard pressed to detect work in progress. They left the attic much cleaner than if was when they arrived. We give them a B for price just because it seemed high. We did not consider other solutions such as cooling units in the exterior walls that would be less expensive. But we are very happy with the value and truly believe that this system will 'pay for itself' in many ways in future years. Note that the price did not include electrical hookup but they recommend an electrician. We ended up using our own guy.

They came mostly to clean out my water heater, and did that well. I asked them to take a look at my toilets, as that was part of package, and was very impressed with the way they solved my toilet problem. Before they came, one of my toilets was not working at all, and had thought I needed to replace it. The guy who came looked at it, and found the problem to be a minor issue, and fixed it beautifully, and it worked just fine. I was quite doubly impressed that he showed me the problem, and how it was fixed. I learned a lot from the man who came. He was very professional and down to earth. And I was not charged an arm and a leg as other plumbers would have. I truly respected his honesty. He saved me the need to totally replace my toilet. I'm grateful for the work he did and would use them again!

They were prompt in responding to calls and scheduling the appointment. The service person was very friendly and the price was reasonable.

Great! No problems. I was advised as to replacement options as the furnace is beyond its life expectancy.

First, they were very responsive and got a service rep out to us immediately. Further, this was a much more complicated repair than we originally envisioned. The service rep had to first determine that the burner on this very new furnace (3 years old) was corroded beyond repair due to condensation of the exhaust gas back into the high efficiency gas furnace. He then had to contact the manufacturer to determine that this was indeed expected and that the repair was necessary. Further he had to finely adjust the gas supply pressure to confirm that the gas pressure was within the manufacturers specifications after the repair. The bottom line is that this was a very complicated repair for which a highly knowledgable service rep was required. He kept us informed of the process as he proceeded and provided options along the way. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and knowledge of the service rep. Well done!!

So this turned out to be a way bigger project than I had expected. John arrived on time at 7 am and got to work on cleaning the two furnaces that are different ages and the whole house has a lot of history. So no big surprise when he quickly informed me that he found things to be repaired. John was engaging and fully explained what he found and shared the options for the work to be done and allowed me to decide on the scope ie do some remedial work or do it all. He was knowledgeable and came over as very experienced. He was with us for most of the day and had his company bring him spare parts, so he did not have to leave and lose time driving around. He left work area was tidy and the furnaces clean and operating efficiently. I would recommend John and Sila to anyone and I will be talking to them again in near future to seek options for service and replacement of my hot water tanks. I only give a B on the price as a reflection of the surprise, as the cleaning was only going to be a few hundred $. The extra work was well worth it but it was well over my planned expenses for that day.

The technician was on time, very personable, gave me a complete description of what he found along with presenting multiple options. Overall he was extremely professional and I would certainly use Sila again.

We continue to be impressed by the dedication and professionalism of their team. Their staff came promptly, diagnosed the problem (death of a furnace) and gave us options to either do temporary repairs or to do a replacement. We decided on the total replacement. On the scheduled day, they arrived early in the morning and stayed until late in the evening to get the job done. It was a major job and, with some complications that an older home can bring, they stayed on task explaining each part throughout their work and afterwards gave a complete summary. We would recommend them without hesitation. You may pay a little bit more, but you definitely get what you pay for.

I added 4 toilets to the Angie's List Special at 20.00 each. I was disappointed in the amount of upselling that went on during the visit. The technician tried to upsell me on water heater valves and told me that I needed all of my toilets rebuilt. My home is 13 years old and has had very light use. After the technician left one of my toilets continued to "run". I called to make arrangements for them to return to fix it and the technician told me that he could come on a particular day. The office called me later and said that the date that I set was not doable. As yet, they have not called me to try to make further arrangements and the toilet continues to need fixing . I called their office and told them that I did not want another of their technicians to come to my house and instead wanted the 20.00 extra that I paid for the toilet that was running refunded to me. The gentleman who answered my call was apologetic and I promptly received my 20.00 refund check. Overall, I have doubts that the quality of any of the work done was there. I especially feel that extra work on the all of the extra toilets was done. I do not want this summary printed. I still am looking for a reliable, reasonably priced plumber.
