They had excellent service, and their clean up was great. I needed a water tank and they were able to give us one in 24 hours.

Called, he called back the same day. Came up for to see what kind of work I needed. He was honest about the work, but I'm going to wait having it done at this time.

Ferro P&H replaced a cracked cast iron pipe which drained from the second floor bathroom. Since the pipe was behind a wall, Mr. Ferro told me it would be difficult to even give an estimate because he did not know if there was a problem in the junction underneath the bathroom but above the first floor ceiling. He also made it clear that his services did not include repairing walls and so forth (obvious to me but clearly experience has taught him to tell people such things). He said we could find our own carpenter or he could recommend one. Since the pipe drains from our main toilet, replacing it wasn't optional, and Mr. Ferro seemed honest and professional, I hired him. When I engaged him for the service, he told me it would be the first job on Monday. He called me that day telling me that he would be late due to an emergency call he was dealing with. When he did show up with a partner, they were very professional and got right down to business. He apologized again for being late. After opening the wall, he discovered that the pipe was only damaged halfway down the first floor. However, while removing the section of pipe, he discovered two things. First, the pipe was secured to a stud. He told me this before he cut it, in order to get my approval, and told me that a carpenter would have to reframe the stud. The second thing he discovered was that the pipe was very thin all the way down through the basement level. Here, he said that he could either just replace the broken segment or replace the whole business beneath the broken segment, which included several junctions. The first option he said would be roughly $500 and the second would be about $1100. He warned me that with the first option, the frail original pipe might break during the clamping of the new segment, and might even drop a piece down the pipe where it could not be retrieved. He even offered for me to put on some gloves and feel where the pipes were weak. Figuring that the rest of the pipe was due to break soon anyway, and not thinking I was being oversold on anything, I asked him to do the bigger job. They were done by early evening. The work looks solid and tidy, and they cleaned up (in the dirt floor basement!) thoroughly after the job. Ferro's partner even suggested I take a photo of the pipe in case insurance might cover it. It's only been two weeks after a job meant to last a good long time, but I am confident that we got excellent service for a reasonable price. I would like to emphasize how impressed I was with their professionalism and their agreeable manner.

I had an old steam boiler that needed to be replaced. I originally contracted for the work with a plumber who ran into scheduling difficulties and sent Steve's company to do the job in his place. This slightly unusual introduction proved to be good all around -- I couldn't be happier. The original contractor had said that the work would take four days. It proved slightly more complex, but Steve kept me posted the whole way on what to expect. Though the installation of the boiler was completed early, the electrician ran into something unexpected that took an extra day. Then the inspector was on vacation, and when he did come, required an inspection and certification of the chimney liner. This required getting another company out, and they found a section of the outtake that needed replacement. Steve took care of everything within the original estimate, including scheduling the chimney inspection and the repair of the outtake. I did decide to add a fresh air intake that wasn't included in the original estimate. This added $400, which seemed fair to me. More importantly, Steve kept in communication with me and did things on the timeline he told me to expect. In short, I found S Ferro professional, practical, and competent. Though I can't say I'm hoping to need their services again any time soon, I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

I had a very old gas boiler that worked when it wanted to. I know I needed a new one and got three estimates. Ferro Plumbing came in with the second highest bid but with good references. I was told it would take approximately 4 days to get the boiler and other needed materials and they would call me when they were ready to install it. In 3 days I received a call from Ferro Plumbing stating they were ready to install the boiler. We agreed on a date and they were to arrive by 8am. Ferro Plumbing arrived on time (actually 30 minutes early) and had the new boiler up and running by 8pm the same day. The new system is running perfectly and they left the basement cleaner then they found it. A professional organazation that actually cares. It don't get any better then that! I have used them 2 more times since on smaller projects and have never had a problem.
