Baker Elman Plumbing

Very poorly. They said the toilet was the wrong size for the fitting (the wrong rough) and told me where to buy a new one to have them install it. When the new one arrived they came back and said they'd been wrong - the current toilet was just fine. All of this wasted more than a month of time. Was able to get most of my money back from the toilet I ordered, but it was a terribly frustrating situation. And they expressed no regret about their mistake.

The price included a part in which he went and picked and he came right back and fixed it.

Terrific! Excellent! Very well. David and Cheryl were great to deal with on the phone, very knowledgeable, very cordial and professional, very responsive. David asked me to email him a photo of the valve so he could buy parts in advance, saving both of us time and money. We set up the (non-emergency) appointment in a couple of days. The work was done quickly, cleanly and with great results. Their pricing structure (low per visit cost + charge per 15 minutes) makes it comfortable to call them for small items. We have a new plumber.

They called to tell me that it would be delivered late. I asked a lot of questions, and they were just fantastic. The two women who work in their office were also great.

The plumber kept me informed and he diagnosed my non-functioning toilet, so I knew what was going on.

They cranked through a lot of work for us, hooked us up with great counter contractor and organized the process exceeding well on a budget that seemed reasonable.

The experience was anxiety free. The plumber was polite and checked with me before doing any work. He ended up doing more than I hired him for. The cost was reasonable and the work done was of excellent quality.

I was very satisfied with their responsiveness. The time between placing the service call and their arrival was reasonably prompt. The plumber (Jamie) who responded to the call was professional, knowledgeable and quite pleasant to deal with. They are on my list to call for future plumbing issues. Simply put: Satisfied and will definitely contact them again regarding plumbing or heating issues.

While traveling on the opposite coast, I got a call from my wife that she'd noticed no hot water, went downstairs and found the water heater had busted and was leaking a puddle into the basement. Consulting Angie's, I found Baker Elman and gave her the number to call. Exactly three hours from when my wife first noticed no hot water, we had a brand new water heater installed and the BE guys out the door. Fast, courteous and well done.

Made appt. via email (fabulous) and arrived exactly when promised. Some questions came up when scheduling the work, all handled thru email very rapidly.

Fine work and reasonable prices. The plumber was late but I'll excuse it because of weather. He also smelled like cigarette smoke.

All right but would be hesitant to use companies referred by them. Answered all of my questions/concerns. Do not refer people to the other company. Plumber told us we were 3rd case where they had to fix problem caused by the other company.

They were very helpful over the phone, giving me several ideas for doing basic troubleshooting myself in order to isolate the problem to the shower/sink or to the water main coming into the house. Their perspective was if it is a simple fix, I can do it without them coming out. Otherwise, I'll call them back.

They were nice and seemed like they knew what they were doing. I was not happy with the price since they did no actual work.

The are my new plumbing angels! Did just what they said they would. Had tools to work on plastic pipe that 2 other local plumbers did not have. Came when promised. Neat & tidy work.

Excellent. First, they were so respectful of my time, calling me back promptly and scheduling the service call at my convenience. Second, they were very respectful of my budget, reassuring me on the first phone call that what I thought was a replacement probably was just a repair. Finally, the plumber who showed up was professional, courteous, prompt and educated me briefly so that I could do a few repairs on my own w/ home improvement store parts. I'm a single mom with my own home and it is really important for me to hire work that is in budget but also the service men are polite and don't make me feel creepy : )

Excellent. Our water heater started leaking Friday night. On Saturday, we were bringing our new baby home from the hospital. I called Baker Elman's 24 Hour Emergency line, and John Elman responded immediately. I called him at 9AM, and we had a new water heater working by noon. John did great work and even took our old water heater away.

We had had another company in to do maintenance work on our heating system, including flushing the air out of all of the radiators in our house. They were unable to get the heat working in the living room and told us we should call a plumber to check the valve on that radiator. I found Baker-Elman on Angie's List. I called them, along with at least 3 other plumbing companies. They returned my call immediately, listened to my story, and made an appointment for that week. They asked me to go home that night and try to identify the valve diameter and suggested that I take digital pictures and email them if I couldn't see a clear marking of the valve size so that when they came to make the repair, they would be sure to have the correct part and not have to schedule a 2nd visit. This was a great idea. I sent them the digital pictures, they figured out correctly what to bring, they came and fixed the radiator. It couldn't have been easier. I would highly recommend them.

Our kitchen faucet had a flexible hose that was leaking profusely. A Baker Elman employee determined that the old faucet needed to be replaced. Having been without water in the kitchen for 3 days already, I went out and picked out and purchased new faucet hardware (and a new instant hot water heater for the kitchen). Knowing how much we wanted running water in the kitchen, Baker Elman was very responsive in getting someone out to install the new faucet and instant hot water heater. The job was done well and in a timely manner at a reasonable cost.

The plumbers came about 40 minutes late. They were very professional and courteous. They did a great job creating the gas line and connecting the dryer, but they switched the location of the washer and dryer without asking me despite the fact that I was here during the entire job. This was a major inconvenience (the doors bumped into each other when we opened them), so I called the company back and Mr. Baker himself came right out and switched the washer/dryer back to their original positions for us. His responsiveness and professionalism was quite impressive. The work did seem incredibly expensive.

I am very happy. They were very responsive. He was on time. He knew what he was doing.

They came on time, were very friendly, and did a good job.

Sheryl Elman and I did quite a lot of emailing back and forth before the actual toilet was chosen and then installed. (I became frustrated at the time it took for them to actually get the ball rolling.) Nevertheless, once I was able to choose the make and color of the toilet, I set up an appointment time with the company to have the item installed. The toilet was delivered to them and they brought it to my house. The man who put it in was very vivacious and seemed enthusiastic about his job. He was also very personable. Despite the fact I had not been told that the job would be "COD", I paid the amount due anyway by check, gave it to the workman and left home to return to work.

I was disappointed. The truth is that hooking up the water to my fridge was going to be problematic, having to go along the kitchen wall, its floor (about 10 ft), from the bathroom (15 ft), or even from the basement. I prefaced the conversation with "I know it's going to be tough", but instead of investigating and talking about the options, he simply agreed and said, "Yeah, it's tricky and not going to look good." I just wanted options! As I had waited 3 hours for what had been described as the "1st morning appoint." I then asked him to check on a running toilet. I actually saw him sigh (really!) and after adjusting the water level, he told me that the handle should be replaced, and that it was easy to remove. I said I was en route to Home Depot and waited to see if he would offer to take off the handle, but he never did. He seemed like he wanted to get to next appt or begin his weekend! A 15 minute visit was $100-as I had been advised-but it turned out $100 was for very little.

Great - two guys came in diagnosed the problem and fixed both of them.
