One of the best surgeon that I’ve ever encountered. His personality was fantastic. Bedside manner was outstanding. He had a slight joking manner.

My experience with him was good. I went through different doctors saying different things until I went to an actual stomach doctor. My mom is a nurse, and she told me that I needed to go to a stomach doctor instead of beating around the bush with everybody else. Finally, I did. As soon as I went in, that's exactly what they told me. It was a whole year. I didn't hardly eat anything. I was eating only crackers for five months. It was horrible. I couldn’t eat anything, and if I did, I had the worse pain ever. Then I got pregnant, it went away until at the end of my pregnancy when I got so big and everything was pushed. Every time I would eat anything, it would hurt so bad. I had to go to the emergency room every time. I felt like I was dying and could not breathe. I would refer him to others. He is very thorough with his procedure. He didn’t waste any time. He said that they were going to go ahead and get me an appointment for surgery if that is what I chose to do. He explained everything to me. He got me right in the very next week. He did the procedure, and everything went great. I didn’t have any problems.

My husband's appointment was at 11:30 a.m., he was running behind and called to let them know that he was going to be around five to ten minutes late. The receptionist snapped at him, that his running behind had nothing to do with them, but Dr. Gilkey had even arrived to work yet, so don't speed. He arrived at 11:34 a.m., Dr. Gilkey finally arrived at her practice around 1:00 p.m. WOW, already an hour and a half wait, surely it wouldn't be long. At 2:30 p.m., my husband, still hadn't seen the doctor. His comment to the office staff was, "I have got to go, I've been here for 3 hours!" He was then told, to and I quote, "Get back in here, she'll be in, in a few minutes!" The office staff is unprofessional, rude, hateful and down right mean-spirited.

Dr. Hanke is excellent, he's mine and my mother's doctor. He takes his time and is very concerned about his patients. We're very lucky to have him, and he always addresses any concerns we have. I'd highly recommend his quality care.

He is thoughtful and doesn't run more tests than he needs to. He doesn't rush the patient. He is also very thorough for a family physician. He has great bedside manner and is a good communicator.

He is dedicated, concerned and knowledgeable. He is very personable. It has been very easy to get an appointment with him. Once I got to know him I really enjoyed his manner. Others may not like his manner. He is very polite and to the point. It isn't anything negative, he is just very direct.
