Description of Work: I referred this company from the ratings on Angie's list to my family when they smelled gas and the gas company confirmed they had a leak. The repairman arrived late in the day and basically checked for leaks. They told my son that it would cost them over $500. My family had a newborn and it was one of the few days we were at 0 degrees and below so they had to go ahead. All they did was tape a few pipes, after calling the manager my son was able to negotiate under $500 if he agreed to some maintenance program. Then when my son smelled gas again a few days later he called the company back and they just gave him the run around. I had another plumber check out the work after and he said it shouldn't have been more than $100 -$150 for the whole thing. Basically this company took advantage of the situation to the extreme on overcharges. All the work took place in the basement so they did not even have to go outside. This was blatant robbery and this company should be ashamed!! I will never recommend this company to anyone. Very poor ethics! If they will do this to a consumer what won't they do. They obviously have no concern for the people they serve what so ever!

Description of Work: I paid Angies List $40.00 for a $79.00 service call expense. I made an appt with Service Plus for the early morning of Feb. 16 to replace a seal on a toilet. I received a call around 7:30 that morning and was asked if I would be willing to have them come later that morning as there was a family without water. I said yes. I had to call back around 11:00 and was told I was up next. I called back at 1:00 and they couldn't give me an estimated time so I rescheduled to Feb. 20. So, wasted time at my expense. |They did come first thing Friday morning. Their service person (Dan) checked out the toilet and then went back to his truck to get me an estimate which took him at least 20 mins (felt like I was dealing for a new car). He returned with a cost of $295.80. Yes, $295.80 plus the $40 Angies list charge! I certainly couldn't hold Dan at fault as he had no control over their pricing. I did accept the terms and was obviously fully aware of the charge, but my options were limited as my time is valuable and needed to return to my office by 10:00. He proceeded to pull up the toilet, then came back to inform me that he needed to warm the wax seal in the truck, another 20 mins. It took him no more than 20 mins to replace the seal and reset the toilet. So, they spent a total of 1 hour and 15 mins. at my house. Did I say that Dan smelled of cigarette smoke? Possibly reason for most of his time spent in the truck. I think I paid Service Plus almost the same amount in 2012 for the installation of the same toilet (including price of toilet). |I did send two separate emails to l ServicePlus with my complaint with no response. |So, my message to anyone who has a leaky toilet around the base, you most likely need a new wax seal installed. It really is a very easy process. Don't be as silly as I was and pay some exorbitant amount of money and don't call Service Plus.

Description of Work: The tech said he would be there within the hour, he was two hours late, He performed the inspection and cleaning but told me the system was in need of repair. The quote he gave me was $2,000.00 We paid for a second opinion. That company said there was nothing wrong with our furnace that would even suggest any repair that would require work totaling $2,000.

Description of Work: Furnace service and cleaning. The technician did his job okay, but always feel like these things through Angieslist are just another sales opportunity. It was either spend several hundred dollars for new furnace motor or buy all new furnace. My present furnace is only 4 years old. This has happened a few times with different contractors.

Description of Work: I bought a deal for a water heater flush and plumbing inspection. According to the tech, our water heater was too old to risk flushing and it might start leaking if we flushed it. I felt like the $50 for just a plumbing inspection was a little pointless. The tech replaced the aerator on a faucet and gave a few pretty obvious recommendations but we live a 100 year old house and I was a little surprised. Plumbing inspection did not include video footage of the drains. Overall, would use this company but not this specific service again.

Description of Work: They were suppose to unstop a drain but after running the snake through it still did not stop the water from backing up. They said they was going to bring a longer snake the next day but did not and instead sent a camera that located nothing that impared them from unstopping the drain. However I was told by another plumber on the phone that it may be my plumbing vent on my roof, instead of saying that they tried to sell me a $600 Jet flush. If nothing was in there why try and sell me anything before they knew what the problem was. I will never use this company again. When they left they left my front storm door pushed all the way open and it took me a while to get it back closed.
