I took my car to Fox and Fox for a regular oil change and, as it turned out, to repair several oil leaks. They didn't have a part, so I had to make an appointment to bring it back the following week. In the meantime, they didn't reconnect the alternator and the car broke down on the roadside the following night. They fixed and apologized for the error and there was no charge for the tow.
When I brought the car back to have the repair completed the following week, Fox and Fox did not have the car ready when they said they would. The techs don't work as fast during the hot weather, I was told. Then, at 5:40 p.m., they called to tell me that the part was broken. They arranged a rental car at no charge, and I picked my car up the next day. A few days later, I discovered two oil puddles under the car and had to bring it back. Again, it was not ready when they said it would be (although they deliberately did not promise). I got there at 5 p.m., closing time, and waited another 20 minutes while they checked everything over. No charge.
Overall, this shop seems very inefficient; a lot of information doesn't seem to make it from the back shop to the folks up front. More than once, when I called to check the status of my car repair, I was put on hold for several minutes. In one instance, the person finally came back on and said she'd call me back when she found out. That took a good half hour. Also, when I dropped off the car, the person checking it in stopped twice to answer the phone even though there were two other employees behind the counter who were not on the phone or serving customers. On pickup, it took anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to round up paperwork, key, and car.
It's all very sad, because these are very nice folks and it's a family-owned business that has been around for 50 years. They did try to make things right, but the continued mistakes and needless inefficiencies have destroyed my trust — and I have to be able to trust someone who works on my car.

I really want to like Fox and Fox and I've used them for many years but I don't think I will be going back. Quality of work is highly dependent upon which tech you happen to get. After the above work was performed the car drove worse than before. In their defense, I did call them and they agreed to look it over again but I chose to go to Stemen's Alignment and Brake. Stemen's found 3 of the 4 wheels off by 2 oz the best was off by 1 oz. The alignment hadn't held because one cam lock was installed backwards and the other was held on by a bolt that was not even finger tight. I get it stuff happens, but when you're paying shop rates near $100/hr with significant parts mark ups you expect it to be done right, and sometimes it is, depending upon who does the work.
The other and quot;sour tasteand quot; again dependent on who you get are the constant upsells - injector cleaning, power steering flush, transmission flush, brake flush. All declined and verified by another independent shop to be perfectly fine.
So for me there are too many other good choices that will get my business from now on.

Had to make multiple appointments. Ran neumatic air wrench and twisted off two bolt heads on skid plate. Not what they used to be.

My car was dropped off with them on Wednesday the 16th for a quoted six day repair. After receiving no phone calls on the afternoon of the sixth day I called them to find out if my car was ready, It was not, they told me another day was needed. The next afternoon again after receiving no phone call I called and was told my car would be ready Monday. On Monday morning I called to find out if and when my car would be ready and was told to pick it up after 3:30P.M. I arrived shortly after 3:30 and was told I would have to either wait or come back in an hour because my car was not ready. So punctuality and communication with the customer was the first aggravating part. The second was when I got into my vehicle and my check engine light was on ( it was not on when I had dropped the vehicle off ) I went inside and informed the rather rude desk clerk about the light and she told me to wait with my car and some one would be along shortly. The gentleman that came to help me happened to be the same man who had given me an estimate which included pictures of the car including the dash while the care was running ( this will be important in a moment). He had a mechanic hook a device to my car to see why the check engine light was on the device showed that my #4 and #6 cylinder was miss firing. The gentleman informed me of that and kinda brushed it off. I asked will they be fixing that as the light was not on when I dropped the car off. And in a very demeaning manor the man said and quot;imagine thatand quot;. I said excuse me sir but aren't you same man that did my estimate that included pictures of the dash with the car running, so if the light was on please show me that picture that had the light on. Now mind you while we were and quot;talkingand quot; the mechanic had simply removed spark plugs and dried them off because they where sopping. wet we started my car and no check engine light, which would be great if the man had not already made me out to be a liar. If he hadn't been so rude I probably would have let the rest go and not even write a review.
I will say that other than the check engine light my car looks like it did before the deer and runs great. But Fox and Fox gets and F from me for rudeness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came with a list of problems to look into. I was then given a quote on a diagnostics fee. After the diagnostics, we were to discuss the various issues and decide on repairs.
In my opinion, they simply forgot to do one of the minor issues. Rather than admit the mistake, I had to argue with the guy for a while about it. He gave some reasoning that didn't hold much water in my opinion. Basically, he claimed I never wanted him to look into that during the initial diagnostic. If I understand his logic properly, he thought I wanted to pay them to diagnose the suspension issues and then pay ANOTHER diagnostic fee to figure out what was wrong with my horn. (A line of reasoning which doesn't make nearly as much sense as the simple and quot;I'm sorry sir, it was a minor issue and it got overlooked. Let us credit your bill or do the check right nowand quot;)
They ultimately refunded the diagnostics fee. But while getting to that point, they lost a customer. In my opinion, I had my intelligence and integrity insulted.
On top of all that, the man rarely smiled and was not too friendly.
Bottom line, this was not the worst experience I've ever had, but I left feeling very unhappy. Their business is within walking distance of my employment and I joined Angie's List specifically to find a good mechanic with whom I could establish a good relationship. Both of my cars are now 7+ years old. They lost the chance to service both vehicles due to their inability to own up to a simple, honest, and easily fixed mistake and unfriendly attitude.
On the plus side, there is a woman who works there who IS super friendly. I wish I could give her my business.

, I was very please with the service expertise and professionalism. They also found that there was a broken motor mount that needed replace and the intake manifold was starting to leak. I was given estimates on both of these repairs. I have since repaired the broken motor mount myself and will be having the repair done on the intake manifold shortly. I was very please with the work they did.

They are very honest and reasonable. The environment is not that great but I prefer going to them. I prefer not to pay a good fancy place. It is good for us.

I have all of my car needs done at Fox and Fox. I have almost 100,000 miles on my care and cannot afford a new one! Fox and Fox keeps my old vehicle driving like new and most importantly, they keep me safe. This was a typical visit for me.I took my car in after the bus picked up the kids and they shuttled me back home (to do housework). They came and picked me up when it was done. I was home with my vehicle before the bus brought the kids home. At my previous visit, I had alignmentwork done. I had to replace a sway bar. Over the holidays, I took a trip and flew out of Detroit. I left my Durango at my brother's house who lives in Detroit. He gave my car a thorough inspection while I was away. He said, "Those guys did a good job on your sway bar." This is significant because my brother is a perfectionist and if he just says something is "all right", it is a compliment. He is an airline mechanic and works on 747s.

I have used Fox and Fox for many years(20?) and highly recommend them. It is a family business, many of the employees have been there for several years and I know them by name. What I like about them is their honesty. They will tell me what I absolutely need to address and what can wait. I frequently see Mr. Fox there thanking the customers and making sure we were content with the service.

Their estimates are always right on target with what they end up charging. They provide good quality customer service. We go to them because of the quality of their service. They will only do the work that is necessary or suggest getting work done that is necessary.

I went to Fox and Fox for a side mirror that had cracked and was barely hanging on. The service tech came out took a look at the mirror and said that he felt that we could get by with just replacing the mirror itself instead of the entire side mirror and case. He went back inside to investigate on how the parts were sold and gave me two estimates one for replacing mirror only and one with entire case and mirror. He said it would be my decision but he strongly felt we could get by with replacing the mirror only and save $100. So I decided on the mirror only. He ordered the parts and called me back about 2 days later when they came in. I scheduled the repair time, dropped car off and within 3 hours the car was ready again. They did a great job with the repair it looks original and I have had no problems with it. I really appreciated their professional opinion on how to best repair it and how professional the service was from start to finish. I felt the pricing was very reasonable b/c the dealer was charging $300-$400 for the same repair. We will use them again.

Very well. They spotted the brake line during an earlier oil change and pointed it out. We heard the compressor grinding and they diagnosed and fixed it. Didn't try to sell us a new/rebuilt compressor.
