They sealed the cracks and filled the cracks with epoxy all the way to the top. They were very good and did a marvelous job. The price that they charged was reasonable. The quality of their work was excellent. Their responsiveness was very good. They also came and did the work when they were supposed to. Their professionalism was excellent too. If need be, then I would use their services in the future too.
Description of Work: I used the services of Perma-Seal Basement Systems about a couple of weeks ago to fill two cracks that I had in my foundation.

They did the job in one day. The system has worked great until power went out during the most recent storm 5/13/10 and water entered the basement but drained very quickly after power went on. Am investigating a back up generator.

My ugly 4' crawlspace smelled from years of moisture and occasional water backup. It had persistent damp gravel, had foundation cracks, and certainly not useful for storage. Great, on-time service by a team of 5 nice guys. Couldn't believe they finished everything under 8 hours. Spent a lot of time explaining everything to me. I had no problem with them eating the lunch they brought on my front lawn next to their 2 vans. It occurs to me now that they never asked to use my bathroom. Cleaned up so nicely, hard to believe they were ever here. I have so much storage now, its like a new giant room under my home. Cable guys and plumbers will like working under there now since its no longer dark, hot, and smelly.
Description of Work: Permaseal consultant was punctual and knowlegable. Gave us several alternative solutions at different costs. We got the dual sump pump w/ battery backup, air cleaner/sanitizer, and they dug and installed drain tiles all along the perimeter, and installed 2 outlets to expel water and radon gas to the back yard. Installed an on-ground thick padding and very thick plastic liner with foil layering underneath. The Liner went on the floor and up the walls. They sealed all the foundation leaks. Perma-seal has a 25 year transferrable warranty too!

The salesman listened to us closely to understand the problems. His inspection appeared very thorough. He drew up clear specifications. The installer came and without talking to us, did not include one foot of drain tile, which we found out about when he was already done. When we asked about it, he said he makes such changes on site all the time. He said it wasn't necessary. We should not have accepted that. We should have called the office immediately. The next rain, we had flooding again, right where we were missing that foot. The company sent out another installer who gave us a quote for an additional $500 because we no longer had an economy of scale job to meet the previous price. That is, this company was expecting us to pay for their mistake. This installer came and claimed we had a new crack, blaming that for the problem. There was no new crack. The previously installer did not install the total footage that was necessary, and had been designed intot the plans by the original salesman. He was trying to come up with an excuse for the mistake. We told him we were happy to pay for the total footage in the contract, which included that extra foot and we should pay at the rate agreed to in the original contract. This installer refused. We asked him to leave and we called the office. After lengthy discussion, the office agreed to install the additional foot at the original rate agreed to. We asked them to send a different installer as I didn't want either of the first two in my home again. Another installer came, and was very professional and got the work done quickly, neatly, and of utmost importance, we no longer have leaks or flooding. This company gets a C because their product works ----- but they caused us quite a bit of totally unnecessary aggrevation and worry. This company should require installers to include a QA/QC step before making changes to an agreed-upon contract. Perhaps a senior engineer should come out to review any design changes before an installer makes the changes. At a minimum, any changes should be clearly discussed and reviewed and agreed to in writing with the client. In sum, carefully watch the installers and make sure they do everything in the contract before they pour the cement, which is the final step. Don't hesitate to call the home office immediately if you are having a disagreement with the installer. The home office should add in some additional management and oversight of their field installers to improve customer service. Perhaps the salemen should be overseeing the installers in the field when work is progressing to ensure there aren't problems like this in the future.

Perma-Seal promptly came out for an estimate. I scheduled the installation initially for two cracks and then found 2 more cracks and had to reschedule the install. The installer arrived as promised. Installation took about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Have not had a problem with leaks in those spots since. This is the 2nd time I have used Perma-Seal and have not had a problem with them. I think the cost is a little high ($1,400+/-), although it was lower than the other company that I had come out for an estimate.
Description of Work: I had 4 cracks in the foundation of the house, which would periodically leak water in heavy rains. Three of the cracks were vertical floor to top of foundation. One crack was horizontal for about 5-6 feet. They injected resin into the cracks to seal them. Haven't had a problem since.

Apparently they did really good work, but we haven't had a huge, huge rainstorm since they did the work, but we haven't had any leaks during regular rainstorms. They were very professional. They found another crack when they were out and we had them fix that. They seemed very reputable and knew what they were doing. They charged several hundred dollars per crack and it was really expensive, but we had looked at other options and had them fixed before and they had leaked again. We wanted a reputable, big company that we knew would not disappear overnight to do the work. We have a warranty that if it ever leaks at any time, they will come and fix it at no charge. It was expensive, but it was probably worth it. They explained exactly what they were doing and why.

So far it is so good. Two guys did the work. I have an outdoor outlet. One of them didn't ask me if he could use it. It tripped my breaker. He was running an extension cord from his truck. It didn't have anything to do with the work. It was to hook up a microwave that hey had in their truck. It was kind of a surprise. That is why I didn't not use them again.

My wife was here when they did the work and there were not complaints. I did notice one spot on the carpet. However the basement carpet was there when we moved in, and sort of a gray and multi-colored to hide stains. I can see this easily being overlooked. I got a couple of quotes and this seemed to be ball park what a major chain would have charged. It seemed a little pricey as I have known people who are handy who have done these sorts of repairs themselves. It came with a guarantee though if anything did not work they would come back and fix it. Before this it had flooded several times under very heavy rains with seepage through these cracks. If the ground was frozen this could get very bad. Since this was fixed there have been zero problems. This was done over a year ago and I have not had any issues. Summary: thought it might have been a little pricey, but they did extensive work filling the cracks and no problems since.
Description of Work: Sealed 2 separate wall sections with foundation cracks which extended all the way to the ceilings. The cracks had many several branches along both walls.

The drainage system is like an inside gutter jacked into the concrete that would draw all the water and take it to the sump. They were very good. It was professionally done. We haven't had any water problem since then even with a lot of serious rainstorms. It has been fully guaranteed. They have been good about coming back every year to make sure that everything is working properly with the dehumidifying air filter, to test the system and change the filter for us. It was expensive, but it was worth it.
Description of Work: Perma-Seal Basement Systems put in a new sump pump with a battery back-up and they did a whole interior drainage system so that we wouldn't have any more flooding on the floors. We also did a special dehumidifying air filter.

I liked them and I think that the work went on very well. They were very nice and clean. They cleaned up after themselves. There had been a little bit of a glitch because I had changed something in the order. However, when the workmen actually got here, they didn?t have that piece on the truck. So they called their office to make sure that the piece got here in order to complete the service. I had a little problem with the drain in my yard as it seemed like it had come up. They came out not only to fix it, but they said that they put a new piece in even though there was nothing wrong with it. I didn?t compare their price with anyone else. I didn?t have any questions. They were just about 15 minutes late and that was not a big deal.
Description of Work: I used the services of Perma-Seal Basement Systems about 3 years ago in November. I had them encapsulate my crawlspace. They added a drain system from my gutters and from my sump pump out to a French well in my yard. They also added a sump pump.

They had a problem with a second one that was going to be around a drainpipe where water had been coming in. We had a problem with that because the pipe has rusted through so we had to get a plumber. We've been satisfied with the work that they have done. They had a bad experience but we don't think they could have broken the iron pipe; it was just one of those things. They cleaned up and told us to call a plumber. We called and they had to do a lot more extensive work. The price was what they had estimated and they didn't charge us for the other job that they couldn't proceed with. Their responsiveness and punctuality were good. You have to wait until the rainy season to be sure if there are any problems. They had done the other one a couple of years ago and nothing came through with that.
