Turned out to be a very expensive compressor. He told me it just didn't make sense to spend that much money to replace that old of a unit. He gave me a quote on replacing the whole unit, and didn't charge me for the capacitor, which I returned to him when he dropped off the quote. All I paid was his standard service call charge.

He cleaned the furnace and brought it up to date.

He came out the very next day. The price was reasonable. The work he did was good, and he was very professional. He calmed my concerns about possible damages. He also cleaned up after himself.

I am still amazed that Brian did not want to take any payment - he said that it was on the house. We have never worked with him or his company before this, and yet he has been generous with his time and professional advice. We will definitely call him again in the future for all of our heating and a/c fix-ups and maintenance issues.

He did an excellent job. He showed up about thirty minutes late, but he had a good reason as to why. He is very professional. He explains what he is doing very well. He informs you of what parts you will need and the cost before he does the work.

Mr. Leith was on time and performed the required tasks associated with seasonal servicing of an air conditioning unit in a timely manner. He thoroughly explained what he had done. In addition, he helped me by answering questions re: a heating problem I had experienced this past winter. (My previous AC/Heating company went out of business this past early spring and had left me with a potential problem). Mr. Leith asked if I had the coupon (from Angie's List) and discounted my original bill of $89.00 to $79.00. Needless to say, I was very pleased with the friendly and professional service and I would highly recommend Leith Heating & Cooling.

Called in the morning and came out same day as the A/C would not turn on. Brian tried several things, but, unfortunately the unit needs replacing. Brian is just a wealth of information and spent a lot of time explaining and answering our questions. The gal that took my phone call in the morning is also just super nice, as was Brian, he was very friendly and has everything handy in his truck. They are a great company and will use them when we will replace the unit, although they do offer financing, we just prefer not to go that route. Will definitely use them for fall service of the furnace for the winter season. My review really doesn't do justice to the service and information we received, he REALLY knows his stuff, and is very willing to share his knowledge.

He arrived on time. He started by laying down plastic sheeting on the areas on the home where he would be walking especially on the carpeted stairs and in the basement. Drained water as required from system so that old boiler could be disconnected and was very careful so that he did not make a mess. Removed all old equipment carefully so that walls and stairway were not scratched. Carefully brought down new boiler and other parts. No smoking or bad language in the home. All work done in a very professional manner. Workmanship was excellent. All plastic sheeting was removed. All areas where he walked was vacuumed and left as clean or cleaner than before he came. Mr Leith is a true perfectionist. He worked all day so that we could have heat before he left. This work was done in the last few day of December, 2007. After watching him for a while I was so confident in his performance that I felt that I did not have to watch him any more. His performance exceeded my expectations.

A top notch experience in every way and I strongly recommend Leith HVAC to list members. Brian, the business owner, came out on very short notice during evening hours. He asked several probing questions over the phone in an attempt to diagnose the problem. Upon visual inspection he verified his suspicion and performed the work immediately by replacing the old motor with a new one. The price was slightly lower than quoted over the phone and he was very cautious, efficient and professional. He showed me the old parts, gave recommendations for future maintenance and I plan to have Leith back in my home for annual HVAC servicing.

Brian was knowledgeable and listened to the details of the problem. He was efficient & thorough at resolving the problem.

The house I purchased in November did not have a whole-house humidifier and I found I needed one due to the dry Chicago winters. I phoned Brian's office to request an appointment was greeted by a friendly and charming woman who said she would have Brian call me to discuss my humidifier needs. Brian phoned me within 30 minutes and spent approximately 15 minutes telling me everything I needed to know about humidifier brands, types, installation techniques, etc. I selected Leith Heating & Cooling based on the strong A rating at Angie's List and the helpfulness of Brian and his assistant. Brian arrived slightly late due to a couple emergencies he needed to attend to after a big snowfall. He explained that he was using a bypass humidifier and provided the reason for using that type. After two hours, he was finished and walked me through the installation and operation of the humidifier going forward, with instructions to call at any time with questions.

Brian's level of information, service & professionalism were excellent from start to finish. We used Angie's List to locate Brian when our 1 AC unit went out over the summer. He came out on a Sunday & got the unit up& running, but warned us we were on borrowed time as our equipment was at the end of its lifespan. A few months later the other AC unit went out & we bit the bullet & replaced the entire system. Brian's pricing was very competitive, his follow through was excellent & he came back over after the job was done to explain the required maintenance when both my wife & I were available. Throughout the entire process he was very flexible with our busy schedules, and took the time to explain everything in detail.

I called Leith Heating in the AM. The person who answered the phone (I believe his wife) was very friendly. We scheduled an appointment for 4 PM that day and he was here 5 minutes early. Brian inspected the unit, determined that a few things could be causing the problems we were having and he addressed them and attended to them. He explained in detail everything he was doing and why he was doing it. He also showed me a few things to look for if the problem continued so that we'd be able to better diagnose the problem. Well, he got it right on the first try and we didn't need a second visit. Brian made a follow up call a few days later to make sure it was still fixed. He also sent a handwritten thank-you-for-your-business card...and his company also send a Christmas Card! He was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Excellent service from beginning to end. Even came out on a Saturday to perform the work with no additional charge. Family friendly company and employees. They took the time to explain the details of the work.

Brian responded very promptly to my email, coming out the same day to inspect the work area and answer questions. He provided us with a fairly detailed quote the next morning. We waited to get a couple more quotes and we chose Brian because he seemed very knowledgeable, fair price and the best service response time to do the actual work. Brian came out 2 days after we called him, which by the way, was on a holiday week, and completed the work in a day. Afterwards, we were very pleased with the job - we had much improved head room, aesthetics and we noticed no loss of air flow to the upper floors - if anything it was improved. Brian worked 3 hours longer than he estimated to make sure the job was done to his standards (we were very impressed) and did not charge a penny more for labor, even though he stayed longer than the estimate. He was thorough in answering questions and concerns. Really great work, call this guy if you need work done quickly and done right.

Brian was extremely helpful in explaining what was going wrong with my unit, even to the point of demonstrating the automatic shut down function when the compressor pressure reached "critical mass". I was not comfortable standing around that much pressure, but Brian assured me what was happening and how the unit was designed to function. We even discussed options for replacement of the entire unit as well as prices, versus this repair that should last for a few more years. I am presently selling my home and moving to Texas, but I would not hesitate to recommend this company for their friendliness, honesty, and professionalism of their work. I hope if I need another AC company in Texas, where it will be alot hotter than northern Illinois, I hope to find one as good as Leith. They do excellent work.

I called Leith after finding them highly rated on Angie's List. My first contact was with Brian's wife, who does the books and takes phone calls. She was as nice as can be. Brian promptly came out for a free estimate and diagnosed our heating problem. Overall, he's had to make a few trips to completely resolve the problem, but was able to take care of everything; including the last trip at no charge. He's a great guy and he's enthusiastic about his job. It's nice to deal with a family owned business that has pride in their work, in this world of corporate *expletive*. I highly recommend this company for heating and cooling issues in the Fox Valley area near Dundee. He even offers an email service called the "Filter Fan Club", where he reminds you to change your filters by email. Thumbs up!
