I am a woman, and was shopping alone for a car. The previous 3 dealerships I had gone to had either ignored me or treated me like I had no idea how a car worked. At every single one their first question was what color I was looking for. Seriously.
I contacted Martin Nissan after seeing a few favorable reviews for them, and made an appointment to go test drive a car. I was met by James Culpepper, who was very straightforward with me, asked me what I had been looking at and what I wanted in a car. He took me out to see what they currently had on the lot and showed me all the features on the car, including opening the hood and talking about the engine (which no other dealership did). We took the car out for a test drive and on returning to the dealership I thanked him for his time and said I would think about it, expecting to get the and quot;what can we do to get you in this car right nowand quot; speech. He didn't pull any tricks and gave me his information and told me to call him whenever I liked.
I ended up liking the car so much I returned on a Saturday to buy it. The weather was good and there were a lot of people there, but James took care of me and got me into the car I wanted. They had one on the lot that was exactly what I wanted but with an accessory package I didn't need, but was a nice bonus. We negotiated for a while - I gave a reasonable amount to purchase the car at based on my internet research and they agreed to it. The only snag was that there were so many people there it took a while to sit down with the financing person, so there was a bit of a wait. I told them what my bank had offered as a financing rate and they managed to beat it. The financing manager was good at explaining what everything meant and was very clear in answering my questions.
With a new car purchase they offer free lifetime oil changes as well as free lifetime car washes, which is a great deal as well as good business sense. I previously had brand loyalty to a different manufacturer, but I think I may now be a Nissan customer for life.
