Brooks Construction

I paid them $6000 to pay my driveway. They burned down the shed at the end of my driveway. I tried to contact them for nine days without any success I mailed them. I texted them. I love comments on their Facebook page. I uploaded a video of my shed on fire. Finally, I stop payment on the check on the 10th day. RUFUS BROOKS showed up at my home asking for a new check. He says he has insurance but that he does not intend to give me that information and it’s not going to turn it into his insurance company because he doesn’t want his premiums to go up, he still expect to be paid the full amount and contact me through voicemail and text messages asking what I intend to do about the money that I owe him. It cost me $950 to dispose of the burned out shed. It cost me over $4100 for a new shed. I haven’t even started calculating the cost of the items lost inside the shed. He spends a lot of time talking about God and his integrity but has done nothing to rectify the situation.

TERRIBLE! After the asphalt was put down, we had water flowing into our garage. We contacted them and they came back, acknowledged the problem and put a trough in front of our garage. There was a 6 - 8 inch gap that needed to filled in with asphalt around this trough and we called repeatedly to get them out to do this. They came and did it when we were not home along with application of a sealer on the driveway. Fill in was terrible, the sealer that was applied was absolutely a joke! The sealer that was applied was sprayed all over our plastic white fencing, our stone blocks and sidewalk concrete,. Very little sealer was even applied, and it washed off at the first rain. Andy, one of their supervisors came out and looked at the job and agreed that is was a TERRIBLE JOB! Andy said they would be back to correct it all! It has now been months and about 20 or 30 phone calls from us to them, never answered and of coarse his voice mailbox is full and no message can be left. We just applied our own sealer to the driveway, two coats to try to fill all of the coarseness and get the driveway ready for winter. We can't wait on them because they will never call us back. We paid $10,000 for this job and feel we were not given a proper job. We had problems in the past with other paving contractors which we related to Rufus Jr. who looked us in the eye and said "Oh don't worry we will do you right, we don't work like that". Well, we found out different! Rufus Jr. bragged that he was with Angie's list, that is why I felt like you should be aware of how they operate. Yes, they put asphalt down but had no regard for its proper application in our situation and certainly don't warrant or correct their mistakes, instead they simply stop taking your calls. Also, they do not put a mailing address or other form of contact on their paperwork so they can not be contacted. I have not used Angies list before however I would think you would want to know about one of your listed contractors.

They were really good. I will using them again in September.
