Furtastik

The main issue with this business is the demeanor and professionalism of its owner. I brought my small dog in for grooming at 9:30 AM, for a 9:30 AM appointment. I was greeted by a groomer and we discussed what was need for the grooming. At 12:30, I returned to be told by the owner that the dog would not be ready for another 30 min. Upon inquiry, the owner told me that the reason was the groomers never come until the earliest appointment at 10 AM and that I should never have been given a 9:30 AM appointment. Interestingly, there was another customer there picking up her dog who also had a 9:30 AM appointment. When this untruth was pointed out, the owner then told me that the reason it was late was because the dog was too squirmy. She then went on to indicate that I should not have scheduled a grooming on a day when I had to be at work by 1:30, and other unsavory comments. Upon review of other feedback on yelp, it seems there is a pattern of stating untruths and putting blame on the customer. The owner takes what seems to me to be a disturbingly aggressive stance against customers, writing aggressive and unpleasant responses, and perhaps even to the point of threatening legal action. I would definitely go to the groomers again, as the work itself was fine, but issue of honesty is a big enough problem that I will not return.

Warning!!!!!! My dog was going to daycare at Furtastik and had a major incident happen to her. While under Furtastik’s care with their employee and with their equipment while going for a walk she somehow got off her leash. Instead of the employee trying to retrieve her she went back to Furtastik to tell the owners. By the time they found her she was struck by a car right by their intersection. They took her to their hospital and she needed 24 hour a day care for roughly 36 hours. She then required a full hip replacement surgery. This left her immobile for 3 months and costs thousands of dollars. They initially offered to pay for everything and said they would file with their insurance for a full refund of the incident cost. I told them I would cover the initial expenses and they could pay me when their insurance claim went through. Their insurance claim was denied and when I asked for financial support they flat out refused to help pay for a single dollar of the costs. Furtastick denied any wrong doing in this matter and said they were not responsible for any aspect of this incident. Furtastik employee laughed when I told him he should accept responsibility for this incident. Their website says they promote a safe environment but this does not seem to be a safe environment based upon my experience. I have since looked into a few other day care facilities in the area and they all have stated they cover any medical expenses that a pet may incur under their care. I would strongly recommend other local day care facilities based on my experience. Please be very careful and think if you would like your pet to be under this care.

Drop off and pick-up is easy. Even though they are located on Ashland, there is a loading zone area right outside their front door so there are almost always empty parking spots. They are open early and stay open late so pick-up and drop-off before / after most work days is very easy. They also do a solid job with basic grooming. Overall, I would highly recommend Furtastik!
