I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and professionalism of Four Seasons, as well as by the range of home services they provide. They really seem to have integrated services and expanded well beyond HVAC. We had some corrosion on the vent from the gas hot water heater and needed this rebuilt. The plumber who arrived, Dave Prutsman, was a real gem. He knew his stuff and was a total professional--from putting covers on his shoes to informing me what he was doing and why. He even offered additional advice about certain aspects of our house plumbing, including a valuable tip about taking steps to prepare the outdoor water lines for winter. He was pleasant, professional and clearly dedicated to doing a fine job. If more people were like him, not only would these home repairs go smoother, but the world would be a better place. We were so impressed by the service that we signed up for preferred membership ($25 for 5 years--a deal) and also scheduled a air duct cleaning for later this month. This seems like a company that can provide us with good service for years to come. That's what we hope anyway, based on this initial good experience. A+

Furnace was out. Called 11 am. Was told someone would be able to make service call between 3-8 pm. Got a call 7 pm ish - was here w/i 30 minutes - and gone by 8:30. The 'A' rating for punctuality was because they at least set expectations they could meet. But I find it odd with 500+ employees, that it takes so long to get someone out to look at a furnace... 'Don' and I didn't hit it off from the beginning. No shoe covers and a real smart-aleck. I have a dual zone system and he asked which one was out. I replied, "The upstairs". And he asks which one and I honestly reply I don't know whether it's the left or right. He tells me to turn them on. I reply they are both on. He shoots me a disgruntled look and says, "Then they're both out." I say, no, the lower one works otherwise the house would be 58 degrees, and instead it's 70. He again asks me to turn them on. I again respond that they are both 'on', it's just that one doesn't blow hot air. At this point it should be obvious that I don't understand his use of the term 'on'. But instead of explaining he wants me to turn the thermostat higher so the one functioning furnace will 'cycle on', he just stands there arguing with me and making snide comments. When I finally understand what he wants, I leave to up the thermostat and my husband takes over. I don't see him again 'til bill time. I was going to cut Don some slack when I found out he had been working for 12 hours straight - but honestly, for a person who does this all day long, he should be used to people not necessarily understanding his terms. Turns out the igniter was dead. He had one in the truck and once diagnosed, it was fixed in minutes. Then I printed out the Angie's list coupon - and found out it expired 6 weeks ago... Don nicely agreed to honor it anyway - and we figured out why later. Bill was $85 for service call plus $223.00 for the part and its install. We were about satisfied with the job 'til my husband looked the part up on the internet and found it's available for <$25. That's an 800% markup. I saw another post about this earlier and now I feel the same. No wonder they graciously accepted the 15% discount - they were overcharging me by a mile from the get go! Bottom line, it was great to get the furnace fixed the same day I called. But the attitude has got to go, and the insane markup is borderline immoral. We'll order another igniter and keep it on hand for next time. I really wonder about all the 'A' ratings - do these customers not know how much the parts and labor should cost? Unless you are desperate and this is an emergency - call another company who won't gouge you!

The salesperson was named Kevin and he was ok, but a little light on the help and information side. He was a bit too "salesy" promising help with the rebates, but then not responding when I asked for help. It took me 3 phone calls to Kevin and also the office to get a clear copy of my contract for the rebates, as the original was scanned/email and it was fuzzy. I haven't gotten my rebates yet from Nicor or Lennox, so not sure if they will even go through - which is worth $1750.00 that I am waiting to get back. So don't believe Kevin when he says he will "help" you. On the other hand, the installers were 2 wonderful brothers who worked extremely hard to do a big job and got it done in one day. They were here from 10:45am to 11:00pm. They were neat and clean and so far everything seems to be working well - but we have not used the furnace yet.
Description of Work: We purchased and had them install a new furnace, air conditioner, and hot water heater. It is high end Lennox equipment and a Rheem tank water heater. We also had them move our outdoor A/C unit to the other side of the house away from our patio and the system required a new horizontal exhaust. We also got a programmable iComfort thermostat and a humidifier.

I called Four Season to clean all of our duct work after a fairly extensive rehab. The guys showed up on time and acted quite professionally. They explained the process to me and then set off on the job. When they got to the furnace in the basement I told them to make sure that they did the dryer vent. I had a W/D installed that morning and the installers said the vent was really dirty. I was told they would make sure to get it. As they were packing up, I specifically asked if they had gotten the vent. One guy, I can not remember his name looked me square in the face and said, 'Yep'. I used the new dryer today for the first time. It did not dry my clothes, and the inside of the dryer was wet. Previous experience tells me that the unit is not venting properly. I unhooked the vent tube and it had not been cleaned. To make it worse, IF they had cleaned it, they would have informed me that the vent line was a 'dummy' line that terminated at a stud inside the house. I had a different contractor here that day who could have run a new vent line for me while he was there. Now, it will most likely cost me another service call to get someone to do that for me. I am really unhappy with this service, and it makes me wonder about the quality of the duct cleaning job that they performed for me. I have used Four Season for several years. I spent just over $6000 with them last week on this job and a new A/C unit. I know I will need another new A/C unit most likely next spring. Four Seasons may not get that job. I am so ticked off about they technician lying to my face... Update---Four Seasons gave me two free coupons for either A/C or Furnace tune ups. Value was roughly $400. They did what they were supposed to do and they made me happy.

Withing 6 hours of the air conditioner failing, a service tech from 4 Seasons arrived and diagnosed the problem as being a shorted winding in the compressor. Since the unit used an older type of refridgerant, he said I had to replace the entire unit as parts were not available to repair the old unit. Faced with 100 degree forecasts and a dog I did not want to leave locked in a hot house, I agreed to replace the unit. They gave me a discount of $100 because I got their number from Angie's List. Within 24 hours a crew arrived with a new unit and began the installation. They worked from 5PM till almost midnight to finish. I was impressed with the work they performed. The air conditioner has worked perfectly since the intallation. Several days later, I checked on the internet and found parts for the old unit ARE available. A neighbor had recently had the same problem and had their entire system replaced for almost $1300 less than I paid but with a lower quality unit than the Lennox I purchased. They performed a beautiful installation with a high quality unit that works well and is warrentied for 5 years and did it VERY quickly. Still a replacement compressor at $900 plus installation would have saved a lot of money. If you are looking for fast, quality service, warrenty and can afford it,4 Seasons is great. If you are looking for the best prices, you may want to shop around.
Description of Work: Air conditioner compressor shorted out during the Chicago summer heat wave. Technician who diagnosed problem said entire system had to be replaced since it used old type of refrigerant. Old system was removed and new system installed.

Two days after moving into a new house, both AC's stopped working. I called Four Seasons at 8:30am and was told someone would come look at them "in a few hours" - at 11am, someone from Four Seasons was at my front door, and immediately went to work. He determined that one system had a dead circuit board, called his office to request the part, asked someone to hand deliver it to him ASAP, and got that system working again. For the second system, he determined that the system had a refrigerant leak, and proceeded to undertake a complex & time-consuming process to figure out where the leak was located. He was at my house for 8 hours, working hard the entire time. When he was done, he told me someone would call me two days later, between 9am and noon. Two days later, at 9:15am, someone called and said they'd be there in 15 minutes. That technician checked all the pressure gauges the first guy installed, and found that the one on the evaporator coil had dropped quite a bit - there was our leak. He called in a request for the part, and said he would get the repair scheduled ASAP. 20 minutes after walking out the door, he called to let me know someone would be there between 2pm and 5pm that same afternoon. At 2:30pm, the repair guy arrived, and got to work restoring the refrigerant line (the leak test involved cutting it up to install pressure gauges) and installing the replacement evaporator coil. He worked non-stop through the afternoon & evening, and left at 9pm only after thoroughly testing the system and completely cleaning up after himself. All three of the guys that came to our house over the 3-day period were unfailingly polite, friendly, courteous (all put on shoe covers before setting foot in the house, even when they were constantly running to their van to get tools/parts or going up on the roof to work on the compressors...much appreciated), and hard-working. They all made a point to ensure that I understood what they'd found, what needed to be done, what my options were, how much it would cost me, and how I wanted them to proceed before they did anything. I've found that Four Seasons' prices are a bit higher than some other local companies', but for the responsiveness and quality of service they offer, they'll continue to be my go-to for all HVAC- and plumbing-related matters.
Description of Work: Replaced the main circuit board in one system's blower. Identified a leak in the evaporator coils of a second system, and replaced the coils. Tested both systems to confirm full functionality & proper refrigerant levels.

I hired Four Seasons Home Services to do some tiling in my bathroom. I realize that my bathroom was lasted tiled in 1986, but they were able to find the exact tile, since I was only doing the shower area. Kudos for finding the exact tile. I was quoted a four day job, which turned into a nine day job, that did not make me happy. One of the issues I have with Four Seasons is they sent out three different handymen for the same job, instead of having one person do the whole job. Because of this, it created some issues in my bathroom. This job turned into a comedy of errors. However, the third guy they send out was excellent, his name was Tony. Tony cared enough about the job to make sure that everything was done correctly. Tony made sure that the window sill was slanted as we requested, something the other 2 did not do. When Tony came to finish the job, the previous handyman brought brown grout, so Tony thought that what was suppose to be used. However, our bathroom has white grout, so he had to remove the brown grout and replace it with white, like the rest of the bathroom. These are small mistakes that made this job longer than it should be. He also actually stayed past 3 pm, which is more than the other 2 guys did. The other 2 guys left by 3 pm, 2pm on Friday, where do I get a job like that? Tony realized there were some issues, and he did everything in the world to correct them. The company's owner was extremely supportive in getting this job done correctly. He made sure that we were happy, in the end the bathroom looks much better than when they started this project. Would I use them again, yes, but I know exactly which handyman I would be requesting and that would be Tony.
Description of Work: Rip down old tile and wall in bathtub/shower area approximately 5-1/2 feet wide by 8 ft tall around the tub. Check the wood on the wall with the window, replace any wood that is rotten, replace wall and tile, make a slanted window sill at the bottom of the window, and grout the tile. Doesn't sound to hard - does it.

Four Seasons Home Services has a plumbing division, if Kevin is the type of plumbers they have in this division, they are on the road to success. Kevin did an excellent job with our plumbing. Do I think they are a little pricey, yes, but I don't mind paying for quality. Kevin made sure everything was working properly before leaving. I also added the 2 toilet problems while he was here - he did them without complaining about the extra work, and only charged me a nominal fee for those repaires. The fact that we have a 1 year warranty makes me even happier. I would recommend their plumbing division, and I would ask for Kevin each and every time.
Description of Work: Plumbing work in my kitchen and bathroom. Fixed the plumbing under the kitchen sink and to the dishwasher, installed shut off valves under the kitchen sink. Also replaced the plumbing in the bathroom - tub/shower needed new facets in tub. Fixed 2 toilets because they were not flushing properly.

Ken shared all of the pros and cons of replacing just the air conditioner without replacing the heating system. The compromise of just replacing the air conditioner was just what I wanted, needed and could afford, and Four Seasons even threw in a free thermostat! Arrangements were made the replace the air conditioner and the servicemen were waiting at my home before the appointed time (and I arrived from work early). They completed the job quickly and were professional in all of their interactions and I am now sitting in my cool condominium! When it is time for me to have my heater replaced, I will return to Four Seasons without a doubt. It is good to know that there are companies out there that will listen to the customer and accomodate their needs without trying to upcharge them. Four Seasons is a Class Act Company!
Description of Work: I had my air conditioner checked and cleaned by a competitor of Four Seasons and though it was an older unit, the repairman gave it a clean bill of health. However, approximately two weeks following the check-up, my old unit completely failed and I needed a brand new air conditioner! After receiving several estimates for repairing the unit, the consistent feedabck provided was that since I have an all inclusive electric heating and air conditioning system, I would also need to replace the heat syatem as well. This would result in twice the cost of what I anticipated paying! With my son's college loans to pay, I was in no position to pay for a new heating system when the present one worked just fine. I asked all of the companies that provided estimates if there was any way that they could just replace the air conditioner without replacing the heating system and the answer was always the same, it just could not be done. My last estimate came from Four Seasons and their representative, Ken. Ken, was knowledgeable and professional, and the only person that tried to see how he could accomodate my need to have just the air conditioner replaced without the added expense of replacing the fully functioning heating system at the same time.

My experience with Four Seasons was excellent. The guys showed up on time and were very professional. They explained to me everything they were going to do and also explained about the equipment they were using. The cleaning took them three and a half hours to complete and I have a small house. They were completely thorough with the cleaning and showed me afterwards the crap that came out of the ductwork. Gross! I could not believe the stuff my family and I were breathing. They really didn't make a big mess but they cleaned up after themselves anyway. I know the price seems like a lot but that's what it costs to clean your ducts, supply and return. If you want it done properly and completely with no hidden costs. That's how much money you should spend to keep the quality of air in your home clean. I won't need this service again for a while but I plan to use Four Seasons in the future for whatever comes next.

We are extremely happy with all of the services that we got from 4 seasons. From the start- scheduling an estimate was very easy and fast. John, the salesperson who came out, was extremely knowledgeable and took his time making a thorough assessment of our home to see what type of A/C unit would be best. The technicians who came out for duct cleaning and to install the A/C unit were professional, efficient, and very skilled. We couldn't be more pleased with our overall experience, and our unit works great!! We would highly recommend 4 Seasons to everyone.

I am extremely sastisfied with the buisiness overall.
Description of Work: I was not sure what kind of problem I had but I noticed that I had a leak coming from the room where my furnace and water heater are located. I first asked that the Heating / AC guy come take a look and he noticed that it was most likely a plumbing job. He suggested I call their Plumbing Division and also gave me a coupon. The plumbing guy came out, Steve, and he was wonderful. He explained the issue to me in terms I could understand. :-) He suggested replacing my water heater and gave me a GREAT price including installation, etc. The scheduling was a bit off but that was during the extreme heat days and I completely understood. I was updated appropriately about it and updated on time frames. I will definatley be calling these guys again when the need arises and have also referred them to others. THANKS GUYS! Paula

Our house was not cooling properly, so we called and within a few hours, a service tech (Dan) was at our house. He was thorough with both of our units and gave multiple options for each, along with his recommendations of what he thought was best and most cost effective. We ended up deciding to replace one of our units, and he gave three options with varying prices and options and was zero pressure about us choosing the more expensive options. We were able to schedule the installation for the next day. The other unit just needed repairs, which, again, he was very upfront and gave a few options. He was thorough, friendly, and incredibly helpful. I'll be writing another review for the actual installation of the new unit, and I can only hone that they are as wonderful as Dan was.
