Description of Work
This physician treated my mother when she was an inpatient at Bradenton Healthcare. He dismissed my sister's concerns when my mother vomited and aspirated during tube feeding. Dr. Hernandez decided that my mother could wait until the next day or so to get a chest Xray. The night nurse on duty sent my mother back to the hospital, she had bacteremia, line sepsis, osteomylitis, and aspiration pneumonia. My mother had only been a patient there for 3 weeks. After this my mother was cared for at home and got better and was living independently, was misdiagnosed by another physician and ended up in the hospital, where this Dr. Hernandez decided to over rule the hospitalist and send her home when they were aware that the soonest I could get to Florida, as a prior arrangement was on the Sunday after she was discharged by Dr. Hernandez on Friday. The hospitalist wanted to keep her for another 3 days. My mother objected and they called me and demanded that my mother leave as she was feeling better. I spoke with my mother and she thought that it would be OK for her to be at home as long as there was some contact and of course she has the button to call for help. I do not think that Dr. Hernandez is a particularly good judge of patient health, as he has never even placed a stethscope on my mother's chest in all the times he has seen her and known that she has respiratory issues.
