Extremely well! The Locksmith, Clifton Reed, was very attentive to details. He was very concerned about making certain that I was pleased with the finished product and knew how to use the locks appropriately.
Description of Work: The provider re-keyed both the deadbolt and the bottom lock since their was no key for the deadbolt. The bottom lock had two plates secured to the door. So, the locksmith recommended drilling the hole properly so that two plates weren't necessary. He also recommended that I purchase a heavier and more secure lock system, such as a Commercial lock. I wanted one key to be able to open both locks. Clifton Reed, the Locksmith, let me feel how much heavier the new locks were in comparison to the locks that were removed. Therefore, I felt more secure and felt that my purchase, even though expensive, was worthwhile.

They were great. The service tech Chris called ahead and showed up early. He examined the garage door and told me my problem wasn't going to be fixed by replacing the wheels on the door. He said the issue was the springs on the current opener. He said they needed to be replaced - that will cost me approximately $600. I told him that I had to discuss with my wife and he said "no problem - let me know and you'll get refunded the $ for today" That's what I would like to do - get a refund.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. The guys that came were very knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. They diagnosed the problem and came back a week or so to fix it. I did spend additional. I didn't compare the price. We had some problems with communication. I would use them again.

Service representative was nice but indicated service would cost $75.00 instead of the $19.99 listed by Angie's List. I refused to pay and declined the service. He called his supervisor and advised him of my decision. He said he was sorry for the mix up and left. I then called your office and advised your representative of the issue and asked for a refund of the purchase price.

It did not go well. The Tech counseled me to replace high security locks with a lower grade lock because he said he could not re-key them. He did not have the locks in his truck. So he had to come out the following day. He returned the next day with his boss. (Great) Not great. They informed me that they could not re-key my good high security locks and needed to install cheaper locks. After 3 hours they didn't have the parts to complete the job. They had to come back another day. The Tech came out the next day with the parts but something else happened that they could not complete the job. The Tech returned the next day with his Boss again (Great). Not great. They completed the work. I asked for a break in price for stretching the job out so long but they refused to budge. Then asked me to fill out an Angies List review in front of them. Is that normal???? I'm sure they knew a bad review was coming. Over all My home is less secure than it was before they came. They did not consult me on the best way to secure my home. They were motivated by price and not my best interest. At some point in the future I will have to get someone to undo what they did. The job was over priced and under supported. When I contact a professional like a locksmith I expect to get service that I can't perform myself. In the move to our new home we are relying on Angies list for for good service providers. I believe Angies List reviews mean something. So far the two service providers that we have used had major issues. We have paid top dollar for poor service.

The service was fine. I was very happy with them. It turned out to be a different service than the one I asked for, but the locks needed different service anyway. He was very good. The charge was more because it is a very old house and old lock that connects to a hand door knob, but he put in a new lock. So, it was fine.

WARNNG: This $75 coupon appears to pay only to get Keyed in LLC “in the door” at which time they pile on additional costs for actual service. This is the classic “bait and switch” in which the consumer is lured in with the enticement of low cost service but then charged much higher prices for actual service. In my case, I needed 4 basic Kwikset door locks rekeyed. As rekeying Kwikset locks is a relatively simple task,I thought the $75 coupon for $100 in services would pretty much cover the cost, but nooooo! Upon arriving 40 minutes late, the locksmith technician informed me that the actual charge for rekeying would be around $300+ I balked at this cost and the technician lowered the cost to around $200+. After some negotiating, I reluctantly agreed to pay an additional cost of $159. This made the total cost of a simple rekeying job come to $234 (i.e., additional charges + coupon cost). The actual rekeying job took the technician 25 minutes. $234 for 25 minutes of actual labor?! Okay, I'm willing to add 1 hour for his driving time from DC to Ellicott City, MD, but the fee was still exorbitant. This is definitely NOT a good deal. My advice: Hire a LOCAL locksmith, not a company that says it services a wide area. ... and make sure the locksmith tells you exactly what the cost will be for the specific services to be provided.
Description of Work: Locksmith technician rekeyed 4 simple (kwikset) residential door locks. The task that took approximately 25 minutes.

If you want prompt service but slow and faulty installations, KeyedIn is for you. We called KeyedIn after someone tried to break into the garage and jimmied the doorknob lock. We were locked out of the garage, and to their credit, KeyedIn sent a technician (Clifton Reed) that afternoon. Clifton arrived promptly at 1:00pm and after discussing the older locks on our house, we decided to replace the front and back door locks in addition to the garage. The technician was very slow, and after only installing one lock in three hours, called for backup. After six hours, the technicians installed 3 deadbolts and 2 doorknobs -- finishing their work just after 7:00pm. The total cost of parts and labor was just over $1,100. Two days later, our newly-installed front doorknob jammed and the door wouldn't open. The handle turned loosely, but the latch wouldn't catch. I called KeyedIn, and again they promptly sent over the owner, Shay Knaani, to fix the handle. Shay initially accused us of slamming the door and causing the issue, but ultimately realized the installation was faulty and replaced the latch. KeyedIn did not charge for this labor, but Shay also did not offer an apology even after trying to blame us for the issue. Seven days later, our new garage door handle jammed and we couldn't access the garage! The manager at KeyedIn explained that Clifton had been let go for a number of faulty installations and suggested we should get a partial refund. Shay quickly called and came out within two hours. He first, however, asked us to repeatedly push and pull the door handle and jimmy the key to try to get the door to open. He again accused us of slamming the door -- this time to the garage -- and causing the jam. Frustrated, I demanded that he come back and fix the new faulty installation. Taking another two hours from work, I met him that afternoon. Using a screw driver, he unstuck the door and tightened the latch. Again, he did not apologize for the issue or accept responsibility for the problem. It wasn't his original installation, but it was one of his original employees. He did not feel that we deserved any refund, even for partial labor, for our time or the bad installation. When I told him that I would write this up on Angie's List and Yelp, he accused me of trying to blackmail his company. Full installation has taken 3 appointments and 10 hours total .. and that's just in the first week. Who knows if we'll have more issues to come! Most frustratingly, KeyedIn and Shay did not accept any responsibility for two jams occurring from their installations. We have been in this house for nearly five year without any issues with our doors or locks (until the garage break-in). KeyedIn, while prompt in their service, did a terrible job delivering quality installation.
Description of Work: KeyedIn replaced three commercial deadbolts and two commercial doorknobs. One doornob was for the door leading to a separate separate garage, and the other locks were for the front and back of our house.

Dear Member, Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are sorry that you were not satisfied with our service. First and foremost, it appears that there was some miscommunication between you and our manager regarding Clifton Reed. Clifton is a valued member of the Keyed In team and is an extremely talented technician. He has received outstanding reviews from the vast majority of his customers and has been continuously employed with our company. Regarding the rest of your review, there were multiple external factors that affected your commercial lock installation, including a mis-installed door and a defective part from the manufacturer. Keyed In managers responded promptly to your concerns as soon as you contacted us with any issues, and we apologize that your installation was one of the few that took more than one outing to complete. As is true for all of our customers, we performed all additional work after the initial installation at no charge to you. The last time you spoke with a Keyed In manager you informed him that if you were not issued a refund, you would post a negative review of the company online. We declined to sacrifice our business's integrity in order to get a good review. Sincerely, The Keyed In Team

I bought a Big Deal Coupon for Keyed In and found out after the fact cost was incurred that it only covered their and quot;service calland quot; which is basically just the trip out and the estimate. It covered no parts or labor, which totaled $208.00. I needed this done quickly so I went ahead with the repair. The man who did the work, Roy I think, did great work. My problem is with the slickness of the marketing management.

The locksmith called before the visit to confirm that I was home. He arrived, identified himself and asked for identification to prove my identity. He provided the estimate which I thought was included with the service call. I am new to Angie's List and am discovering how the "Big Deals" work. He contacted his office and attempted to get a price break and one was offered but the price was more that I was willing to pay. I also asked advice for another potential lock situation that I had on my patio door. The locksmith was very courteous, and helpful during the entire visit. The overall visit and customer service was excellent even though the job could not be completed.

During a cold snap the key to my front deadbolt got stuck. I was worried I'd have to replace it, which would mean getting new keys for my dog walker and several other friends and neighbors who have keys to my house. Clifton was really helpful and outlined my options and was pleasant while working in the bitter cold. Turns out, he was able to clean it out and get it working better than it had for years. I'm very pleased and would recommend Keyed In LLC.
