Cuevas Lumber & Fence

I got together with 4 neighbors to obtain quotes to replace the common fences between our properties. We tried 3 other suppliers first, and had some issue with all of those quotes. Based on the Angie's list recommendation I then contacted Cueva's. We were pleased with the quote process, and felt like this was the best way to go. Our experience was consistent with the high reviews, and I will break down as follows: 1. Overall punctuality and Responsiveness: (A) Excellent. Hugh is very responsive, the scheduling is efficient, all arrivals were on-time, and the work was done very quickly. 2. Quote process: (A) very smooth. Fidel provided a hand-drawn diagram, with each section labelled and the cost broken out separately. I used that to build a spreadsheet to assign the cost per neighbor. 3. Price (A-): this was not the lowest quote we received, but it was close. all things considered we made the right decision to use Cueva's. 4. Execution: (A+) These guys are good !! 5. Extra mile (A+) ouststanding. One of the neighbors has a dog. The crew put up a temporary fence along that property after the initial demolition, and then prioritized that section higher, and got it done first, very quickly. 6. Repairs & Warranty: (A) We got a verbal 5 year warranty which I noted in the contract. A couple of months after the initial work was done, one of the boards split. I called for repair, and emailed in a photo. Within a few days the repair was complete. Overall excellent experience. My neighbors also declared themselves satisfied, and at least one has used Cueva's for other work. I highly recommend Cueva's Lumber & Fence.

I got them from Angie's List. They were very prompt and their work was well done. It was a good experience. The fence has been good. I have had no problems or issues with it. Their price was good and very reasonable. Their professionalism was also good.

I was extremely pleased with the entire process with Cuevas, from bidding to removal to installation. Prompt, professional, and very competent. Their bid was quite competitive and lower than the other bids we received given that we spec'ed con-heart rather than standard redwood throughout. The removal and installation was a two-day process and went smoothly and efficiently. We were particularly impressed with the skill and efficiency of the workers that removed our old fence and installed the new one. They were fast, very pleasant, and clearly very good at what they do. They were prompt, and worked very hard. The materials are first rate. On completion they did a very good job of cleaning the worksite. All in all a first rate job. I would definitely recommend Cuevas to anyone needing fence-work.

They did what I wanted for the cost agreed to. I am satisfied with the quality of the work. They did what I wanted. I let them pick the date. There was a problem with them getting lumber and that delayed the project a week, with no warning to me. They were much more punctual about collecting the final payment.

Although it took nearly a month for the company to install my fence, Cuevas crew arrived right on time on the appointed date. They conducted themselves in a professional manner (minimizing damage to my property during removal and great clean up job after installation), I highly recommend Cuevas for any fence installation. Their prices are fair and reasonable. Thank you Cuevas Lumber & Fence for minimizing my stress level!! My neighbors thank you as well for the aesthetic look of the final product.

The work started on time, went as planned with good quality lumber used. The board on board 6' fence looks sturdy with both hand nails and nail gun use. I've received comments on how great the fence looks compared to others just installed at other homes.

Arrived early and finished the job complete in one day. Installation was as instructed and no problems encountered. Entire job went smooth.

!I called Cuevas because of reviews I read on Angie's List. On the phone I told the woman that I didn't need a complete fence, just 1 foot lattice added on top of an existing 88 ft fence. She scheduled the estimate for 3 weeks out, which was the first available time. This was ok with me because the company had such stellar ratings. Kevin Delamore came to my house to give me an estimate. He was on time and professional in his manner. In addition to the lattice work, I asked him to include removing a gate and replacing it with a panel of fencing, replacing 20 boards that had knot holes, installing 1x1x5 side post trim on 13 posts, installing one 1x2x6 "gate stop, and after looking at their condition, replacing 4 - 6x6 post caps. It took him a very long time to write up the estimate and I soon discovered why. The total quote ended up being for $1748. The gate was quoted at $96, 20 boards at $270, the side trim was $132, the post caps were $140 and the gate stop was $10. All this added up to $648 but here was the clincher - the lattice was quoted at $1100! That is almost double what other bids were just for lattice. In addition, Kevin told me I had to accept the entire quote of $1748 or they wouldn't do the work! Their total quote is $850 more than the quote closest to them! Clearly my job was too little for them to take during this time of year when they had lots of other more profitable work to do. This leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. If they didn't want to do this small of a job they should have said so up front.

I got quotes from a number of companies. Cuevas was the most professional. All quotes were in the same ball park. Cuevas a little higher, but the most together. They called a few times in the weeks after I got the bid to check if was still interested. The other companies were flaky. I spoke to Hugh at the Cuevas office. Very friendly and helpful. He had a cancellation, so on Monday, I booked for Friday. Called him a number of times during the week in arranging the job with additional questions. Hugh put up with my repeated question really well. On Wednesday, I called Hugh again because I was a little concerned that the quote didn't mention dirt to be dug out along one portion of the fence, and I didn't want to have them show up in 2 days and say, that wasn't part of the deal. So Hugh made a special effort and sent out Fidel the next day, (Thursday) to check again and confirm everything. Fidel was great and said all was good and he would stop but Friday during the job. He didn't make it Friday, but talked to the guys by phone. Also, I appreciate the fact that on Thursday, Hugh actually called me to let me know, Fidel was running late for our re-check appointment. A nice touch. They arrived a little late, but that was due to traffic and the fact they are located 45mins to an hour away. We discussed exactly what was to happen again and they went to work. They did a great job and finished the fence in one day. It looks really nice. My last fence wasn't put in correctly and blew over in a wind storm.. This one is guaranteed for 5 years. They didn't get to to the gate posts on Friday, so I said, give me a call tonight to let me know if you are coming tomorrow or during the week to do that part of the job. They didn't call, but just showed up Saturday. Was surprised early, but they did a good job. A good experience. I will use them for my other fence.

I received my quote from Kevin on the spot. The job was scheduled within two weeks. The crew showed up on time and was professional and did an excellent job replacing my old fence.

The experience was great. The contractor that came out was on time and answered all my questions. The bid was not only comparable it was right on the button. There were no hidden fee's. The workers were on time and did a fantastic job. We are very pleased and will use them in the future.

It was great! They guy who did the first quote was very thorough. What I liked was while they were building and even after, if I had a complaint they would do what I wanted without any question. They finished quickly and cleaned up their mess. They also worked very well with my neighbors. I was very pleased! I chose them for the A ratings on Angie's List and they were the lowest of 3 quotes that I received.

It went very well. Kevin came out and gave us a quote. He went over the design of the deck and the different kinds of wood options with us. He sent us the drawings of the deck to us via email. I then sent them the deposit, and they got started. Everybody was here on time. The builders were great. They were neat and clean, and actually finished ahead of schedule. They did a wonderful job. I highly recommend them. They builders were great and so were the people in the office I dealt with.

To start with the summary: I don't know that they could have done any better than they did!! I had numerous special requests and details that I wanted to them to follow in our yard, regarding removal of unwanted attachments to the fence, and in particular to be very careful about various native plants that we had planted recently; this was tricky, because they had to distinguish between invasive grasses and plants that I don't care about, and the native plants that I DO care about. When the workers showed up, I went over the various issues with them; the person in charge of the group acknowledged each point that I mentioned, but due to slight communication issues, I wasn't certain that we were really on the same pages... I needn't have worried !!! They did a superlative job, the fence is gorgeous!! The gates are expertly built and seem very solid. They could have done a little better job at cleanup; nails and screw were left scattered around the yard, but it's not enough to ding them over, especially given how well everything else was done. I should also mention that one of the impacts of all my restrictions, was that some parts of the fence were a little tricky to access, but they are professionals, and did an excellent job without harming anything that I cared about. I highly recommend Cuevas Fence... Later note, November 2014; Well, I called them back because I need repair work done on my fence (a portion of the fence which they did *not* install). Unfortunately, Kevin declined to come out and discuss the job with me; they only do complete fence replacement, not repair services. I am disappointed by that, especially considering that I am a previous customer. Hopefully I will be able to find a service who *will* perform the work that I need. I would prefer to find a competent contractor who will provide *all* of my needs, not just the ones that maximize profit for them.

I was made aware of this company from a friend and Angie's list. They came out and provided a bid. They then installed the fence about a week later. It was a back fence that I shared with my neighbor who paid half the costs. It was very easy to contact them, schedule the installation, and handle an issue after installation. They were punctual, efficient, and professional. They finished the work in one day. The installation of my fence compromised the fence of my next door neighbor. They responded to fix my neighbor's fence at no cost to them or myself. I would highly recommend them.

The work they did was beautiful. They were punctual. They came out and built the fence in a day. Then I called for an estimate and the guy was just there and so helpful and very reasonable. I was very impressed. He came out and gave us a quote, I said go ahead. They were just on top of it. They had a crew, they installed the fence and it looked great.

Large crew (about 5 or 6) removed old fence and installed two new ones in one day. ARrived on time and immediately started removing old fence. Crew worked quickly and efficiently, but glad I, and my neighbors were there to watch, given the crew were not very cognizant about watching out for the plants bordering the fence on both sides. There was quite a lot of plant damage - but I guess nothign that won't grow again - but, nonetheless, as a gardener, rather distressing to watch. A little difficult to communicate - only one worker (apparently to be the foreman) spoke some English. I would think you would definitely want to be around the whole day to make sure they are doing exactly what you expected. I had some "design" problems with the smaller, front fence -resolved after some calls back to the Company - might have been a mistunderstanding at the time the first visit and quote was given. WE had to have them return to add a further, small kickboard at the bottom of the fence in a couple of sections, given the fence installed didn't quite touch the soil of the 2 flower beds, and soil would doubtlessly wash through from my neighbor's flower beds, and soil would doubtlessly wash through from my neighbor's higher bed when watering or if raining (property slopes very slightly). They did return and fixed the problem quite satisfactorily. Give their prices were by far the best of the 3 quotes, my neighbor will be using them again to replace another fence on her property quite soon. We were both quite happy with the job.

Called Kevin twice and left voice mail and no return. Business must be good when you don't even bother to return phone calls.

It was a terrific experience from start (the initial contact and estimate) to finish (actually getting the work done). Everyone was very professional and responsive.

great customer service, no waiting, quick response, great work! We had them do an IPE outdoor bench which they normally dont. Since ours was a big one and we needed it in 2 weeks they did it right away and were finished on time. The work they did was very good, the superviser kept on checking back and watching the work and wanted to have us be satisfied at the end. This was very well accomplished. We got lots of complements so far Thank you!

Very well. Replaced with good quality lumber. Workmen were on time, neat, and cleaned up very well after work was completed. Very nice quality work.

They came about 5-10 min late. But got started immediately, worked quite efficiently and got it done in time. We were hoping for a reminder the day before the work, which they did not have, but wouldn't hold that against them. The quality of the work seems good so far.
