I did not use Above It All Roofing due their high price.
Description of Work: I called Above It All Roofing Inc. for and estimate and Michael Allen came to my home. I requested an estimate for repairing broken tiles and sealing any areas that may need re-sealing. Michael did not get on the roof but walked around the house and gave me an estimate of $1200 plus $20/tile. I was shocked since I had had the roof checked and replaced some broken tiles several years prior and the complete price was $400. I questioned him and he said he had a minimum price. I called one of his competitors (Weatherline Roofing and Repairs, Inc.) for another estimate. I did use Weatherline and they did a great job and their total price, including tiles, was $450. I would not recommend Above It All Roofing if you are looking for a fair price.

Response from Above It All Roofing, Inc
The Member called us last year (October 2011) and said he had a couple of broken tiles to be replaced. After setting an appointment I went out to meet him and inspect his roof. There was no need to go onto his roof and risk breaking more tiles as I was able to move my ladder around the home and get a complete view of the roof. There were many broken tiles, the felt paper was showing in some areas and most of the joints seals around the pipe and vent flashings were cracked or missing. There was a lot of work to do in order for us to leave this gentleman's roof completely uncompromised. I gave him a fair quote that included replacing all broken tiles, missing and damaged felt paper, sealing and painting all the flashings on all the roof penetrations with a warranty against any future leaks. This roof was 25 years old and appeared to be in very bad condition. I am not sure why the Member did not call the company that he had previously contracted with that replaced broken tiles and sealed his roof for $400 prior to calling us. I tell all my customers to call me if they "ever" have a problem with their roof, even if the warranty has expired. I have worked very hard to maintain the highest possible integrity of my company. We charge a fair price and give a warranty that actually means something. We will not take advantage of someone just to make a quick buck. I know that you can always get a cheaper price if you keep shopping, but it may come back to haunt you if you have a problem. It's been about a year since I quoted this job. It appears that the Member finally found a company willing to do the work for the price he wanted to pay. I truly hope his roof holds up this time and if he has a problem, this particular company that he hired will actually honor their warranty. Please remember that over 80% of the complaints the Better Business Bureau receives are from consumers who went with the cheapest bid. We only know one way to fix a roof, and that is the correct way. If you want excellent service at a fair price, then call us. If you want cheap, then I would suggest calling "the other guy".

Dave is great at returning calls and getting the job done. He fixed a leak for me last year and then put a new roof on in July. We had an issue with dust getting in to the skylights and he took care of it right away after I called. We are also getting solar cells and he has been more than willing to work with the solar company to make sure everything is done correctly.

I originally went out on my own and got 4-5 quotes from roofer contractors. At the last minute, I joined Angie’s List. Because of that, I was able to toss one contractor out immediately because of the poor rating. As I was poking around, I noticed Above it All Roofer with a very high rating. They received an A rating with over 120 reviews. With that, I hired them. Jay was very nice and professional. As the other contractors hounded me after giving me quotes, Jay just let the quote and the reviews speak for themselves. Right of f the bat I got a 5% discount for mentioning Angie’s List. Sounded good to me!! Jay and I haggled about the bottom line – you have to try and reduce the price, right !!? After agreeing on a price, I called Jay back a few days later to set up the start of the new roof. Originally, my date was a few weeks away, which didn’t really bother me, but somehow Jay was able to change the date to be in a couple of days. Fine. First day of demo and I got a call from Jay. That’s the last thing anyone wants to get. First thought is dollars signs. Turns out that the plywood that was quoted in my price wasn’t going to be needed and BAM another discount! YAY for my side!! In all my dealings with contractors, that has never happened! He could have easily screwed me on that one. I was very pleased that the roof was done in TWO days! Now, for the walk about. Oil drippings on the driveway along with what appeared to be tar – not a lot but some. An ashtray made out of a lemon, more tar spots on the back patio. Looking up you see that they used too long of nails so you see nails coming through the eaves - sporadically around the entire house. I must admit, my eaves had issues, a few wasp nests, spider webs, spider eggs, etc. Not pretty. Jay walked the house and took note of all my concerns. I was surprised that 2 days later a painter showed up at my door asking if he could take a look around to give Jay an estimate to fix the nails, patching and painting of my eaves. I have no idea when everything happened as I was at work, but one day someone came by to power spray my house (which removed all the oil spotting and tar as well). The next day the eaves were repaired and painted. I didn’t hear from Jay until a few days later. He never once asked for any sort of payment. He comes today. We haven’t discussed what the new price of the roof is – remember the plywood? Sometimes, stuff just happens. It all depends on how the contractor, Jay in this scenario, handles the situation. He was very calm (not sure I would be with some of the performance of my workers) and professional, always! He’s also a really nice person. I have recommended Above it All.
Description of Work: I had the entire roof reshingled. See below for blow by blow.

David from “All Above It All Roofing” was highly recommended and was one of the highest ranked roofers on Angie’s list in my area. I called for an estimate and David promptly came out the next day. He listened to my concerns and accommodated all my requirements and left samples for me to choose from. David was very attentive and available if I had any questions or concerns especially since we were simultaneously installing an air-conditioning unit. He consulted with the other contractor to coordinate the work. The crew was efficient, friendly and finished the job just in time before the rain came pouring down. They stuck to their original quote which was much lower than the other 4 estimates I had received. The results met my expectations. I would recommend All Above It All Roofing and will use their services again for my rental properties.

It's possible I could have found a "handyman" to make the repair for less money, and it is possible that the "tuneup" wasn't necessary, but water leaks can be extremely expensive and I'm pleased with the knowledge that the roof is in "like new" shape after this tuneup. Jay and his crew were punctual, polite and professional. Perfect group at have to your home.
Description of Work: I purchased a used home (12 years) in an 'as is' condition. There was a substantial water leak after the first rain and upon a closer inspection it was apparent that the same area had suffered previous water damage. Jay Gioia came to my home and looked at the areas damaged. He explained the cause of the leak and the potential fixes. He recommended a repair process and also recommended a roof "tuneup" which would include an entire roof inspection, replacement of any broken tiles, and resealing and repainting of all vents, flashings and pipes. Lastly instead of a time guarantee, he promised to return two times if needed for any roof problems.

The company was punctual and on time and finished when promised. Excellent foreman and workers. The roof passed all inspections by both the town and by my general contractor. Excellent workmanship and very clean. Kept me informed during the process and very easy to work with. Really a great company!
Description of Work: They completely reroofed approximately 2000 sq feet of an unusually shaped roof including full removal and installation of both shingles and a flat roof product. and did an outstanding job. Extremely punctual, clean and professional. They secured all the permits and inspections. Jay was on top of the code requirements unlike some of the competitors I received quotes from. My general contractor examined the work and found it to be top notch. Even though I had to delay the start date Jay accomodated my needs and began on the day I requested and completed the job on time. He kept

The repair team appeared at the appointed time, did their work within the prescribed time framework, and a great job. We were having some trees removed from around the house after the work was done. In so doing, a lot of tree debris was dropped on the tiled part of the roof. Jay sent over his foreman to clean if up at no cost.
Description of Work: Inspected roof. Pinpointed problem areas, both those that were obvious and those that were potentially problematic. Jay was very straight forward in his appraisal. It would have been easy for him to have been an alarmist and expand the job beyond what was needed. I was prepared for the worst and, thus, was pleasantly surprised when he indicated that the roof was in great shape and only needed some minor fixes and tuneups.

Showed up, fixed the tile, left. Great job! Since they gave me a much cheaper tile reset price, I'll certainly be using them when the time comes to have it done.
Description of Work: I called them to replace a clay tile that had fallen from my roof. They responded almost immediately and fixed the tile free of charge. The also gave me an estimate to reset the tiles (something which will need to be done soon and I've been asking about). Their estimate to reset the tiles on my roof was about 3000 dollars cheaper than other estimates I'd received.

I contacted Above it All Roofing by email and heard back from Jay the same day. I explained that we needed one tile repaired (a very small job) which Jay said he could look at the next day as he had a job close by. As promised, Jay did go by our house and reported back that we had several tiles that needed repair and provided an estimate. He also said that he could complete the job two days later which he did. His foreman arrived promptly and completed the job to my husband's satisfaction. This might be a little thing but since I read email throughout the day, it was great that Jay did too so we were able to communicate easily to get the job done. Thank you Jay (and your foreman); should we need additional repairs in the future, we'll give you a call.Barbara S.

Jay and foreman were earily to the Saturday 7:30 AM appointment. Foreman checked everything on the home inspection concern list. Verified correct installation in most areas. Observed incorrect installation of several feet of edge tiles. Foreman showed me the problem. Jay gave estimate to repair tile installation. The estimate and discount was quite reasonable. They said that they could do the repairs now.I asked them to proceed. They used the spare edge tiles I had from the original installation to replace tiles broken during removal and re-installation of 40 feet of edge tiles. Mastic sealing applied where needed. Start to finish under 3 hours and roof is better than new.

My clay tile roof was damaged in the Pasadena windstorm and I have finally gotten around to contacting 2 roofing contractors. I have a 3200 square foot home. Some of my neighbors went with unlicensed roofers who just replaced their clay tiles or shingles and others used licensed contractors who replaced their entire roof. I have a clay tile roof and I wanted it to be done properly therefore I selected the top contractor from Angie's List "Above it All Roofing" (after reading most of the comments) and another contractor recommended by my neighbor which I will write a separate report on. Dave a representative from "Above it All Roofing" was prompt, professional and knowledgable. He wrote up an estimate right after his inspection and the estimated cost was almost identical to the other company to remove the tiles, replace the paper and then reuse the existing clay tiles or replace new. Dave had any suggested that I speak with a neighbor of mine who had his company replace there roof with shingles. The payment plan was by far the BEST I have heard from any contractor. I was very impressed. Also, the workers are on the payroll. I selected the other contractor primarily because my neighbor with the clay tile roof had recommended them and I had watched them work on their house. The estimates were close.

We decided to go with another roofer who performed a partial reroof for us a few years earlier.
Description of Work: I wanted several bids for our 3-unit condo reroof job. Above It All was one of five bids. Jay was a regular, hard-working guy who was most personable. He was right on time for the estimate. He actually provided the lowest bid of all. We decided to go with the company who did a partial reroof of our roof a few years ago. Jay came out and gave us an estimate. He arrived on time and was courteous and professional. He left us with samples of the different roofing colors and was far more thorough than the others contractors who gave us estimates. The job was scheduled and had to be delayed twice due to rain. Each time, Jay was very accessible and we always knew exactly what was going on. When the job finally did begin, there was a 10% chance of rain on day two. Jay had his crew cover our roof in plastic so as not to have any chance of moisture affecting our new sheeting. Throughout the job, Jay was always willing to go the extra step to make sure the job was done well. The crew installed four new solatubes and two new skylights before finishing up the new roofing tile. Ruben was the foreman at the site and, like Jay, he was focused on making sure the job was done right. We had a couple of hiccups along the way, as these types of jobs often do. Jay always responded promptly and took care of whatever issues arose. He is very much a "the buck stops here" kind of guy and we appreciated that. In the end, the roof looks great, the skylights are beautiful, and the solatubes were done well. The crew even installed extra dormer vents, including one in the garage where there was previously none, so our house is cooler and more efficient than it used to be. Above It All Roofing does a quality job. And if any issues arise, you can be sure that they will be taken care of by professionals like Jay. You can't ask for more than that. Thanks, guys.

The experience was great and if we have any sort of problem or work needed on our Roof, there is no question that we'll be calling Jay.
Description of Work: Jay arrived around 10 minutes before the scheduled time and was ready to go right away. He was professional and explained to me the inspection he was going to perform and what he was going to look for. Once completed, he explained what he had seen in our roof and proceeded to make recommendations on when and what kind of maintenance the roof would need. I asked for a written estimate and he committed to sending it via email later that day, and he did send the email as agreed.

My experience is described above in "services performed".
Description of Work: No services were rendered. The Above It All Roofing, Inc representative, David Brunn, was very open and honest regarding my roofing repair issues and his solution of them. Very clear on all aspects of the prospective repair, no illusions regarding the initial cost and any subsequent expense if required. The quote was well within my expectations. Unfortunately, as with getting multiple estimates, I had to choose only one contractor. Was very difficult to make my decision. If anyone has a roof repair in their present or future I highly recommend that you contact Above It All Roofing, Inc for a straight forthright assessment of your repair needs.

I needed a roof cap repaired on my tile roof. I called the company and Dave came out too assess the scope of work. He was very polite and professional and on time. We set up a time for his crew to come out at 7am on Wednesday. They were very prompt. The crew leader (Renaldo?) was very efficient and professional. They found 2 additional roof caps that needed repair which he addressed immediately at no extra charge. They also applied sealers aaround the vent openings as needed. They completed the repairs, cleaned up the area, and were gone within the hour.
Description of Work: This was a general roof tune-up. Work also included repair of one visible cracked concrete ridge cap on tile roof. The scope of work included application of mastic and paint to seal all roof openings and adjusting tile as needed. Work was quoted as a lump sum tune-up including 2 call-backs.

Jay returned my call the same day I emailed to request a quote for repair of our leaking roof. We agreed he would come on Tuesday to give an estimate. He arrived on time and scheduled to complete the repair on Friday. He showed up for the repairs on time with his crew. After starting the job, he realized there were other factors that had impacted the leak. (Our home is a manufactured home with a constructed addition.) The repair took twice as long as originally anticipated because of these other factors, but Jay only increased the cost $300 above his original estimate. His crew did the clean up and I was very pleased with the results. He provided the option of guarantees for the work, and we chose two return trips in the event the roof leaks again, and he agreed it is transferable to the new owner when the home sells.

"Above it all" estimated the work on Tuesday and made the appointment for repairs on friday. The men that came to the house were very professional and knew their business. They replaced broken tile, sealed around all flashing openings in the roof, and replaced some missing tile and did it all in about 2 hours. The guy that sold the work also came with the crew to oversee the project. Very professional. Made a warrenty commitment after the estimate for 1 trip return if something went wrong, after working on the job changed the warrenty to 2 visits. Excellent.

Over a period of time we developed several leaks in our roof. We decided to hire an independent home inspector to inspect the roof and determine if we could just patch the leaks or whether we needed to replace the entire roof. His recommendation was that the roof be replaced. Since we have always had excellent results with everyone that we have hired from Angie’s List we again turned to them to find a roofing contractor. We chose three companies and set up appointments with all three of them for estimates. All of them were fairly competitive in price but we decided to go with Jay from Above It All Roofing. The first deciding factor was that all of their reviews were excellent and secondly Jay was very knowledgeable and professional. His estimate was very specific as to what was included, they offered a discount for being an Angie’s List member and offered a much longer guarantee than their competitors. Jay was in contact with us through the entire job and his foreman, Ruben, kept us informed daily as to everything that was going on. Ruben and his crew were always friendly, hardworking and conscientious. They always came when they said they would and cleaned up the worksite at the end of every day. The job was scheduled to last 3-4 days but was completed within 3. They all did a great job! We really can’t say enough about how much we appreciate how honest, caring and trustworthy they all were and know that you will not be disappointed if you decide to hire them
Description of Work: The company replaced all damaged wood and felt paper underneath our tile roof by first removing the existing tiles, repairing any damaged wood, putting down the new double felt paper and then replacing the existing tiles, which included replacing any damaged tiles with new tiles.

They told me the tiles were okay and they only needed to replace a few. They did a lot of repairs. A lot of the tiles had slipped becuase the origional construction guys did not put a nail in every tile. Instead, they had only put a nail in approximentaly every third tile and because of this the roof was leaking. Above It All Roofing put nails in every single tile, replaced flashing, repaired plywood that had an damage from an animal, chimney work, and many other upgrades. Everyone was polite, consencious, and hard working. They were all top quality! I am happy with their services. They are going to come back at a later date for some roof cleaning.
Description of Work: I hired them for large, extensive roof repair.
