PG&E replaced our meter due to some issues we'd been having with power fluctuations. The new meter didn't fully resolve the issue. We contacted Got Watts who discovered that we had an arcing breaker which was practically soldered into place. We ended up replacing all of the breakers for a reasonable price. (We weren't scared into replacing the rest of the breakers and didn't feel pressured in any way. We simply felt it was the safest thing to do given the age/condition of the other breakers.) We were very pleased with Got Watts' professionalism, service and pricing and would recommend them to anyone needing an electrician.

I originally purchase an Angieslist deal for a basic house fan and when contacting the contractor, we decided to go with a more powerful whole house fan. I was so happy; there was no pressure at all and I was presented with three different fans, the more expensive they got, the quieter and more efficient they were, so we decided to go with the top of the line, given the price difference was not huge. Our install was scheduled about a week out. On install day, the guys came and they were so professional and tidy and fast, I was amazed. The whole process was completed in under two hours and they removed all of their mess, showed me how to operate everything and left. Once they left, I did notice a very small chip in the corner of the wall. I did not think it was a big deal, but knew my hubby may think otherwise, so I called Jeremy, the owner, and one guy returned within 30 minuted to re-texture the small area - about 1 inch by 2 inches. I thanked him for coming back for something so small and he thanked ME for calling and giving the opportunity to make it right. This, to me, speaks volumes of their professionalism. When you have any work done, you need to expect that little things may happen, like a scuffed wall, and if the service provider makes it right with little to no inconvenience to you, then I feel they are still in the excellent category! :-) I would confidently call them again for any electrical work that we may need.

Have used them twice and am very happy with this company; they are very professional and answer any questions. They have been very helpful, even checking with their contacts to help determine whether my dryer should be repaired or replaced, replacing the outside breaker (no charge) and swapping out overhead kitchen light fixtures gratis when they were not working the way they were supposed to! I highly recommend Got Watts!

I had an old Federal Pacific Electric main electrical panel and the house inspector had recommended that I had upgrade it. I was budgeting to do it later in the year but I was having a problem with flickering lights in the house and called Jeremy to have Got Watts come take a look. Jeremy came out personally and spent about 2 hours going through and debugging things (without charging me!) before coming up with 2 suggestions: 1) They could start billing and going through all the connections in the house to track down the problem 2) They could replace the main breaker panel now (FPEs have been known to cause flickering) and if the flickering was still present they would do a few hours of free debugging work. I chose to do the second option. The crew came out ready to go on the scheduled date and did the job in under the estimated time (on the hottest day of the year so far!) The installation looks amazing, they really do make a bunch of metal look really d*** nice. Unfortunately the flickering was still present. The foreman came out (Jeremy's cousin) and did some work, replaced some breakers and found some really weird wiring problems (it looks like there is a shared hot somewhere.) It looks like a whole house rewire may be in our future but for now I replaced the light fixtures with LED ones (the LED didn't flicker, only the Halogen/Incandescent) and will be putting in AFCI breakers to protect myself against any potential arcing. I would absolutely recommend working with Got Watts for any electrical project and will be calling them when it comes time for a whole house rewire. (This was all after having another electrician come out and do one of the biggest hack jobs I have ever seen. That's another story for another time)

I knew the main and sub panels needed replacing, but planned to do the work later in the year or possibly early 2016...then things began to go wonky after my home was sided and Got Watts had a great promotion, so I called Jeremy. Within 48 hours of my call, he was at my home! I told him the problem and together we looked at both sub panels and main. We were both dumbstruck to see signs of arcing and original fuses falling out their connections [wish I could attach photos] in the main! While the sub panels had horrors of their own; wiring was ?slip-shot?, jumbled, even some not even connected and touching the metal box, along with frayed wires; so it came as no surprise when Jeremy informed me I could NOT wait. Within a week, a PG&E worker rang my bell and we looked at the main; ?no problem in moving it, most people just move it and then ask.? Two or three days later, Troy and his two-man team showed up on time, friendly as ever, and ready to work?only they too were awe stricken by state of the ?patch? jobs that were done. At one point, they asked if any of the previous work passed inspections?let alone insured! As they worked, they informed me on what they were doing and why, which Jeremy had already explained, but it was great to ?see? what was explained, it made perfect sense?and allowed me to take pictures of true before and after! The job took two days, but I had electricity by 4 pm the first day so I would not be in the dark all night. They worked efficiently, professionally, enjoyed the work and me playing photographer. Since the old thin plywood could not be reused after they combined the two sub panels in the garage, they returned a third day and installed better and thicker plywood to fit around the new single sub panel and heating duct...they even matched the grain of the new wood to some existing, now I even have a new garage! Jeremy, Troy, and the team that did the work are professionals by every meaning of the word; friendly, but not intrusive; quick, but not careless, not to mention they clean up after themselves! Just another through stress-free superb job I have come to expect from Jeremy and the gentlemen at Got Watts. In addition, Jeremy?s pricing saved me a ton on what could have easily been a finical nightmare from some other company [thank you Jeremy and Angie's List for the promotion]. NO one will ever touch my electric if not from Got Watts! If you need ANY electric work, do your a favor and make one call?Got Watts? You will not regret your decision or their work.
Description of Work: Replaced an aging and dangerous Sub Panel, upgraded the equally dangerous and outdated Meter Main Combo to 125 Amp and moved it after obtaining PG&E's permission for relocating it behind the gate. They also installed an AFCI Breaker, Surge Protection and grounded my 1930s home in two places.

Jeremy was at our door at 8am, and after a quick walkthrough prepped our living room and laid a tarp to catch any dust. His coworker arrived a little while after (Sorry I can't remember his name) and got right in there. I was blown away by how quickly they were able to get the ceiling light installed in our living room. I wonder why someone would have covered it up in the first place?!? Best part was how cleanly it was all done. No scrapes, or marks on the plaster wall or ceiling! Incredible. The second job was the installation of a very rare antique wooden chandelier. They removed the old electric box and replaced it with a fan rated one to support the weight, and installed a custom ceiling mount that we had fabricated for this purpose. I am SUPER HAPPY with how this went. Not one speck of damage to the plaster ceiling. Pristine!! These guys worked so cleanly. We LOVE how it looks in there now. The third job was the removal of some hideous iKea track lights and then the rewiring of our exposed beams and installation of 2 new light fixtures in the kitchen. They got up into the attic, and pulled the new cables to the wall outlet and out into the beams. Jeremy carefully used a round saw to cut the openings over the area where the old track lights were mounted, avoiding leaving visible holes in our beams. Again, I am so impressed how it came out. The total time they were with us was almost exactly 4 hours. They did a lot of work in that time. This was by far our best experience using Angie List, and I look forward to being able to work with these really cool and super professional guys again.

Excellent. We have contracted with Jeremy and the Got Watts crew before, so we didn't hesitate to call on him for the electric car charger (we were lucky that an Angie's list deal was available, but we would have called on Jeremy even without the deal). The crew was prompt, knowledgeable and completed the job in no time. They are even approved by Tesla for this service, so they notified the Tesla company when the job was done. On a side note, at this same time we were at the beginning of working with a company on a solar install for our home. Jeremy added a set of very knowledgeable eyes to the solar plan and directly contacted the solar company, on our behalf, to tweak the plans a bit to make the install more efficient. The solar is up now and everything went very well.

Jeremy came to our home to give us an estimate on a whole house attic fan, as well as a few other jobs that we have been meaning to take care of for years. The estimate was clearly written, and he even offered to separate out the house fan work from the rest of the repairs in a separate estimate, but we told him it wasn't necessary. We were impressed by how thorough he was (and he's a really nice guy!) I wasn't home for the installation, but my husband raved about the professionalism of the installers. The house fan installation went smoothly, and they quickly installed/replaced a backyard light fixture, as well as a couple of outdoor GFCI outlets. Most impressively Abe and his co-worker (sorry his name wasn't on the receipt) spent a lot of time trouble shooting planter box lights that haven't been working in over a decade - and got them up and running! We are starting to put our whole house fan, and, given the energy savings, are glad we didn't install air-conditioning. Got Watts is a first-class company from start to finish.

We purchased a new home in Oakland in November 2014 and simply wanted to install some recessed lighting in place of the super ugly florescent lighting that was in the house when we bought it, and fix a few "small" electrical items that our home inspector recommended. I reviewed Angie?s List and Yelp and saw all of the 5-star reviews for Got Watts, so we had them come out to give us a quote. Jeremy promptly came out to the house and was very honest, friendly and informative when going through our plans with us and letting us know what our limitations were and what Got Watts was able to do. During the process, Jeremy told us that we would need a power panel upgrade to bring more power into the home since there was simply not enough power to provide enough electricity for the home (we were already previously informed by our home inspector that this was a possibility). So, this would require us to install a bigger power line from PG&E coming into the home, and also a new power panel. We chose Got Watts for the project and they proceeded with the job. After completing the installation of the recessed lights and the new power panel, it was (quite unfortunately) discovered that the new power panel was not compatible with the wiring in our new home, which was 70% knob and tube wiring. The presence of knob and tube wiring was never discovered by our own home inspector and not included in our home inspection report! Jeremy tried to find a fix for us so that we would not have to rewire the house (i.e. remove all of the knob and tube wiring). He spent 12 straight hours at our house on a Sunday, looking for the culprit section of knob and tube wiring that was causing the circuit breaker to trip when challenged. He was unable to locate the problem, but while in the process of looking for the problem, he discovered even more poor wiring deep in the recesses of the house, which was a further safety hazard. We discussed our options with Jeremy and concluded that a rewire was the only option left if we wanted to pass the final permit approval from the City of Oakland for the new power panel. By this point, it was around Dec 18th and we really wanted to move into our new home by mid to end of January, and still needed to have the walls (which would have giant holes in them due to the rewire) patched up and painted before moving in. So Jeremy and his crew worked on the rewire project all throughout the Christmas and New Year?s holidays, fitting us in wherever they had openings during this time. We were so appreciative that they worked so hard, spending time on our home when they could have been home with their loved ones over the holidays. The final outcome was better than we could have imagined and we are so happy with the finished product. We now have a safe and fully modern wired home. We even had Got Watts install high-speed Ethernet, digital voice and cable jacks in several rooms since the walls were already opened for the rewire project! Throughout the project, Jeremy, Troy, Abe, James and other Got Watt team members were true professionals and always answered our questions. They took the time to explain to us why certain previous wiring in the house was done with total lack of safety, and how they were going to fix it. Jeremy said to us during the process, ?this house is the worst house we have ever seen from an electrical standpoint in 15 years of doing business.? In addition to managing their timeline perfectly, Got Watts? team brought in boot-covers to wear to install fixtures that arrived late after we moved in, and they were extremely careful not to dirty our newly cleaned floor and furniture. They straightened the crooked switch plates (installed by previous owners) whenever possible for a better aesthetic and provided other valuable design related suggestions from the electrician point of view. They left their master lock box for our painter to use to make our painting process smooth while we were not at the house. They are true professionals that offer the highest level of service and experience. Despite the massive hurdles we all had to overcome, Got Watts did the job and finished on time! It was an expensive and much bigger project that we had anticipated, but in the end we were very happy that we chose Got Watts to complete the project for us. We highly recommend them to anyone who has electrical needs for their home or business.
Description of Work: 1. Installed new energy efficient recessed lighting fixtures, new bedroom ceiling fixtures, and new outdoor lighting fixtures on the front and sides of the house. 2. With support of PG&E, Got Watts ran a bigger power line to the house to add more total amperage to the house. 3. Installed all new power panel in the home and removed old panel entirely. 4. Removed all of the old existing knob and tube wiring and then rewired the entire house with modern wiring and circuitry except for two rooms which were already updated. 5. Also installed high speed ethernet, cable and digital phone jacks in three rooms. 6. Installed wired and connected fire alarms throughout the house 7. Installed new closet fixture lights in every closet 8. Installed extra outlets on every wall in the home except for one room. 9. Fixed all old existing wiring issues from previous owners/handymen, etc to ensure total safety of the wiring throughout the home. 10. This was a permitted job through the City of Oakland and we passed all inspections.

The subtotal was $3,765.92 and then I got a discount of $451.91 and then I had a down payment of $1,699 because I bought a coupon. He was great to work with. While he was working on it, the heater quit working and he sent out one of his people over and they jump started it so we had a little bit of heat at least for a couple of days until it went out again. Then I had to get the other person in to replace it. They were so nice and they came and got it going again. It really wasn't his fault that the heater went out. We thought maybe because electricity was off so they did this. He bent over backwards to come and make sure everything was going for us.
Description of Work: I had a 200-amp service upgrade by Jeremy Carlock of Got Watts Electric. I had an overhead meter main combo, 816 panel, CU conductors, and extended the ground in to the main waterline. They got a permit. They removed the old damaged panel and put an EV charger 30 amp or 50 amp.

We had to pay an additional amount, because it was a pretty major job that we ended up doing. We moved the electrical panel because it was not up to code. They gave me 10%or 15% off of the entire project price. They take exceptional pride in their work such that it was not only functional, it was upgradable, and it even looks nice. They were taking pictures, they were bragging about it, they were sending the pictures to their colleagues, and they did very impressive work.
Description of Work: I had purchased a big deal for Got Watts Electric and it turned out great. They replaced the original panel, it was moved to the garage from a non-code location, they replaced a sub panel that was not up to code as well, they added 2 circuits to my kitchen, and they added two circuits with conduit in my garage.
