Desert Podiatric Medical Spec

My whole toe was completely sterilized by the doctor's assistant and numbed by the doctor.  The needle for numbing did not hurt at all, only a little discomfort.  The nail removal was painless.  My toenail area was covered with an oil-immersed gauze so it would not stick to the nail bed and toe was wrapped.  An antibiotic prescription was called in to my drug store, and I picked it up on the way home.  I was directed to change the dressing daily, applying an antibiotic ointment and using a small piece of the oil-immersed gauze over the nail bed, under the bandage.  I was able to get water on the toe the next day; so showering was not a problem. 
On third day, I was to begin airing the toe without a dressing.   The whole experience was very comfortable and the doctor very professional. All my questions were answered.  A return visit is to be only if needed due to pain or any other concern.  I called the office the next week with a question about anti-fungal topical ointments and my call was returned within a few hours.  The healing has been uneventful with minimal pain which is responsive to Aleve.

Dr. Funk treated my on going problem with one injection. He said that it would feel better within two days. All pain was gone after two days, and it has been three weeks with no pain!

This doctor did the best he could for me. I knew that his services would not make a great improvement in my condition, but I thought anything he could do would be a help. The orthotics have made walking in my sports shoes somewhat easier. Unfortunately, with other types of shoes the orthotics cannot be worn. My Dr. Scholl's sandals, without orthotics, work just as well.

support......PLEASE this is not necesary.....when a surgeon or podiatrist starts talikg about cutting your feet without even taking a look...This is bad practice...very scary!!
Oh by the way my husband and I are both medical.....so it was obvious that Dr. Funk only wanted to make money off of us, and not do the more conservative approach like some simple ORTHOTICS!!!! There is no way in heck I will ever go abk to him or any other PODIATRIST!!

He suggested coming back after the Christmas holidays since I was traveling to have time to recuperate. He was very prompt, personable, and friendly.

I give him top grades across the board.

I think he's super.  He's a great guy whose concerned and he knows what he's doing.  I feel really comfortable with him and I also know he's going to be around for a while which is important to me.
