Alterations/Sewing/Decorating
Had a long sequined prom dress that needed hemming. The work was
completed by the time promised (5+ days), but the hem was crooked and
even folded in one part. Luckily I took it to my daughter (two hours
away) for her to try it on a week before the prom. The dress was very
noticeably longer on one side than the other. It also had a portion
shorter in the back than the front. It no longer had the flowing motion
that it had before the hemming was done. Terrible. I took the dress
back to the shop and the woman said my daughter would have to come in
and try the dress on. That was not possible given that she's away at
college. Besides, she had tried it on for the woman in the first place,
and the results were terrible. The woman just kept repeating that my
daughter had to come back in. I asked if we could lay it out on a table
and look at the obvious issues. She finally did it and said we could
pick it up late the next day. There was no apology. My husband picked
it up the next day and got and quot;the silent treatment:and quot;. Very disappointing
and stressful. I wish they had told me if they were not good at hemming
long sequined dresses.

Alterations/Sewing/Decorating
5 Months ago my best friend told me she was getting married. I was happy for her. I was even happier for her when she said that I would not be subject to wearing a strapless dress made out of a terrible material. A month later, this size 18 curvy girl is buying a short purple strapless dress made out of....cotton sateen. I was boggled as to what I needed to do in terms of the kinds of alterations I would need to have done to ensure that this morning church wedding didn't turn inappropriate. At the time I was working at a Plus Size clothing store. Several of my customers told me that I needed to enlist the help of Margaret and Sheila at Sew Perfect Alterations. I had heard of the business as they had been around for as long as I have been alive and several girls from High School had used them for prom alterations sooooo many years ago. I had already called around to several other places to get time and cost estimates and was very discouraged when I realized no one wanted to mess with this fabric as it can be very unforgiving.
A day or two later I call Sew Perfect....twice...and spoke with both Margaret and Sheila. Each time they listed to me explain what the dress looked like, what my concerns were regarding the dress and the areas of my body that I wanted to either highlight or not highlight. They basically talked me off the ledge and helped me become more comfortable with the dress. When I asked how long It would take to alter, I was given an estimate of 3 weeks since it was a lined formal and the dress would be altered during a high volume time for them (Prom!!). I ordered my dress and when it came in I was almost 40lbs lighter and my dress was at least a size too big with the potential of it becoming even bigger as the wedding day approached. I called Sew Perfect to find out how I needed to approach this situation. Seing as the wedding is in May, they advised me to bring my dress in the first week of May. This would allow them the 2 weeks (I was happy to hear it wouldn't take 3) they would need to alter the dress and accommodate the ongoing weight loss I am experiencing.
So in 3 weeks time I will be taking my business to Sew Perfection and will gladly post a follow up review regarding the work because their customer service thus far has been AMAZING! That combined with their speediness and reasonable prices...I'll be using their business exclusively. As a small business owner myself, it pains me to see good businesses getting a bad wrap by customers who have never actually used the business or service. Margaret and Sheila have been amazing and answered all of my crazy questions, taken the time (several times) to talk with me regarding a plan of action for the alterations and assured me several times that they would be able to meet the deadline for the wedding. Not once have I had to leave a message and not once have I had to have them call me back. Overall I am happy with my experience thus far and am confident that they will be able to make this whole bridesmaid dress thing work for me and for the bride.

I was told that I would need to bring a dress in the week that I called if I wanted to get it back within 2 months when all I needed was a simple hem.

Lady took only 3 minutes or so to pin up back of the suitcoats. She took my phone number and estimated they d be done ins week. They might have been but I didn t get a call. When I called about 10-12 days later, they were done and looked great.

Paid the $20 up front, came back a week later to pick it up and it was done perfectly. No hesitation to go back to Sew Perfect for alteration needs!
