Transmission
What a nightmare this place was. My transmission went out and I was referred to Callaway Transmission by several people. At the time, I didn't know that Callaway Transmission was sold to these people. E&C Auto Repair is running a facade due to Callaway Transmission signs are still on the building. Also, the picures online do not depict the current status of this shop. I was quoted on the phone that the job would take 6 days. Well that 6 days turned into 7 weeks. I was quoted a price of $1700-$2000. When I talked with the owner on the phone he told me that it was going to be $2400. After telling him what he had quoted me, he then changed his tune. He then told me that if I pay cash then he would only charge me payroll taxes but if I pay with a check then he would have to charge me sales tax. After getting my vehicle, the engine light was on and the boot from the steering wheel to the motor was missing and my vehicle still shifted hard from 1st - 2nd. I took it to my mechanic and they knocked off the engine light and fixed the boot. I took it back 2 times and was told that the hard shift was normal as the transmission had to be broken in. This week, I took my vehicle into my mechanic and was told that the right axle boot was busted presumably when they took out the transmission and that the right outer tie rod end rubber boot was missing. This cost me another $601.29. Just an FYI, they don't do transmission work on their premises. They farm it out to Madison Transmission. Right now with my transmission still shifting hard from 1st-2nd, I don't have much faith in Madison Transmission either. It is hard to understand how anyone could lay down at night knowing that they intentionally lie to customers and rip them off.
