Tire swapping in Fairbanks can be a long process when you're trying to get it done in the height of the season. This is the case for this transaction --- so nothing unusual about dropping my car off at 7a.m. and finding out at mid afternoon that they were finally getting a chance to swap my tires over.
I found out at about 2p.m. that I needed *new* tires for two of my wheels and that they refused to put my old ones on, and that was going to cost me additional fees. No complaints there, I mean, they didn't want potential liability, I understand that. And I guess there wasn't a waiver I could sign. But I was pretty upset, because I what I didn't understand was why a place wouldn't just sort of look at the tires immediately when they first rolled in to see if a customer could afford to have their car in the shop all day and find out they need to buy tires so many hours later. I also couldn't afford the tires and my parents had to help, I although I wasn't mean to her, I was emotional b/c I'd taken the day off of work and hung out all day around downtown with my 6 month old baby in order to get tires on my only mode of transportation and they'd been sort of rude and abrupt and made some assumptions about my finances and ability to just pay for more than what I thought I was bringing my car in for.
My complaint for unprofessional-ism is that when I walked in to pay for the services (and the new tires) the lady behind the counter was talking snidely about my situation and the conversation she and I had over the phone.
She didn't stop hollering to the guy in the back about it until she pulled my name up and realized I was the customer in question. It left me feeling pretty butt-hurt. And then a little outraged, because I felt that it was sort of ridiculous to bad mouth a customer in front of another customer in the first place. Regardless of it being me that I was hearing about.
As it was, my car still wasn't finished like she said it would be and I had to hang out feeling foolish for another 20 minutes. Pretty lame.
Anyway, I found a different tire shop to take my car too and I'm sure to ask them to let me know in advance if I'll need new tires every year when I bring them in. Lesson learned.

I take my cars to American Tire every fall to have snow tires put on and every spring to have the summer tires put back. I buy my new tires there when the old ones wear out. They always tell me exactly what it will cost and when my car will be ready. When everyone else in town is trying to get their tires changed on the same day-after-the-first-snow, these guys are always pressured to do as many cars as they can as fast as they can. Even with all that, I've never had a poor job. They treat everyone with respect, even the whiners.

We came in and ordered tires, really nice and courteous, told us about coupons on certain brands, etc. Once we ordered tires, they gave us an estimated time frame for getting them in. Dropped car off to get tires put on, they were really busy but they got to customers quickly. They gave us an estimated time frame and said they would call. We ended up having to call them, and one guy wasn't in a very good mood but helped us. Everything was done when they said it would be, they just weren't very good with calling. When we came in to pick up the car and the other set of tires we had to remind them about the mail-in rebate offers, but they were busy. Our tires are great! Overall we had great service with them and will use them in the future.

These guys stay busy, but they were able to get me in a reasonable amount of time. I have used them previously and I have never had any issues with complaints about them. I am always confident that my tires are balanced and all is well, so I can focus on driving on the roads not worrying about problems related to what they did, and trust me, I have had some serious issues with some other tire people.

Excellent customer service

This was a routine switching out of the tires. It was pretty straight forward and uneventful. However, one exciting piece of information - I found a 10% off coupon for this company right here on Angie's list, which saved us $50 - thank you AL! I checked the 'Deals' category on a whim, and it payed off, so would always recommend checking that before you go in for a service.

The service was exceptional, and the price was 2/3 of what I was quoted from another shop in town. They took the diagnostic of the other shop, but did their own just to check. They found that many of the services the other shop had to do were not necessary but were smaller procedures rather than major replacements. They got my vehicle back to me in about a week, which is great for the amount of services they performed on it.

Additionally, this business is military friendly and goes out of their way to help servicemen. I'll definitely use them again.

They were really honest and that was very much appreciated. I was happy with the service. I will continue to use them in the future if necessary. Sometimes they are very busy but I choose to go there anyway.
