I was referred to honey solar by a 3rd party. Initial experience was good. I was promised information and coordination. However after chasing Thomas for 3 months I still have no estimate, and I was asked to provide $1000 retainer fee to I quote "A good start would be about $1000, to get my full attention" -- When previously there was no mention of this when we spoke at any time prior over the last 3 months. Posting this review so others will not waste their time on a business with shady practices, and that demands money to get their attention

It's too bad the rating scale does not go to A+. My first contact with Joe Sheffield and his business was about 5 years ago. I had a solar electric and solar hot water system installed by a different company and the entire system failed (the install was so poor it actually caught fire, but thats another story). Joe came out and repaired all the flaws and expanded the system for me. He also took detailed photos of the entire process to record all the defects for me to help recover my money from the original contractor. Pricewise he was very reasonable, showing me options throughout the process to make it economical. He did all the paper work involved, not just the permits and construction, but all the dealing with utility company. Quality of work was outstanding, never cut corners. Always made certain to show me details of install as it progressed. Even hidden work, like pulled cable he always went a step over to make it neat and efficient. Communication was thorough an ongoing through the whole process, I always knew what was going on and what was coming next. But beyond the quality of work and reasonable cost is the customer service. Any time I called Joe, he always made time to discuss my questions and help solve any issues. My most recent contact with him was just last week. My solar hot water system tripped the ground fault and was not running. Even though all my equipment is well past warranty he went through possible causes, told me a couple things to try and told me if that did not work to call him back and he would come check it out. (BTW, hot water is up and running again,thanks) I recommend Joe and his company highly. Not just because his prices are reasonable and the work quality is outstanding, but because of the customer service after the job that he provides. It truly provides peace of mind on a project like this to know that he will still have my back for any issues

Tony Havemann advertises himself as owner, general manager, veteran, or sales rep, depending upon what fits his target. He posts ads which fraudulently claim substantial solar panel installation rebate programs from the states of NC, or SC; from Duke (or other) Energy companies, and from solar panel manufacturers (in my case Panasonic). He claims some of the rebates have deadlines which are designed to entice the mark to fork over several thousands of dollars as a deposit (in my case $2250). It's all a scam. The rebates are used to solicit a down payment, and/or substantial loans which an unsuspecting customer will encumber to pay for the solar panels. Check out the business rating on BBB. Havemann has also operated in the past in NC and SC as Solar Tek Energy with an accomplice, Aron Muckenfuss. The web site for Jarhead Solar claims locations across NC (Fayetteville, Raleigh, Asheville, Greensboro, & Charlotte) but does not list any addresses other than a PO box at a UPS store in Asheville, NC as of this writing. Havemann also claims to be a master certified roofer, and to offer Heating & Air Condition services and insulating services

I am not sure how relevant this review now is, since he is no longer doing these installations. However, he remains in the solar business and so I have chosen to provide this review. He was professional and personable in his work with us, but... 1. He insisted that locating the panels at a low spot on our roof was sufficient. After inadequate hot water for some time, especially in winters, we paid another excellent company - DG Solar - to move the panels to a high location, with fine results. This failure of Honey Solar to locate the panels properly at the outset cost us an additional $900. 2. In the process of relocation, we discovered a deteriorating place in one of the panels. Honey Electric first said and quot;we will make this right,and quot; and now has declined to be engaged in warranty initiatives, even though the panels are still under warranty

The installation of the system went well. Once the system was installed, it took two weeks before the system was actually turned on. I had to call them to ask why the system was still not operational. When I did, they told me that I needed to turn it on myself. About two years after the system was intalled, the monitoring system quit working after a severe thunderstorm in our area. It took 4 months, constant follow-up on my part, several appointments that were broken by their staff, and more aggravation than I have ever experienced with poor customer service before the monitoring system was finally restored and operational again

We would recommend him him to anyone and the solar route is a very good way to go, even into 2009 with the tax credits having been extended (remember a tax credit is real money, unlike a tax deduction)

Denis with Natural Home Lite was at our home yesterday (5/13/2020) to install three sun tunnels, two 14-inch and one 10-inch. This work was scheduled following a visit from Mike on or about 4/7/2020 for a cost estimate. We also received a cost estimate from our local Solatube reps; the costs were about the same. We chose Velux because we didn't like the idea that the reflective coating in the interior of the sun tunnel would fade over time, which we understand happens with Solatube. Denis promptly arrived at 0900 and went right to work. The job was done by 1630. I inspected the area around one tunnel in the attic and discovered a lot of leftover debris from cutting through the roof as well as one of the light "cans" the sun tunnel replaced. Denis helped me remove the debris, but it would've been left behind had I not inspected. The other two tunnels were in a very hard to reach area of the attic, so I didn't venture in further, but I assume he left the associated debris in there as well, so I marked down Quality from A to B for that. The sun tunnels themselves are AMAZING! We had them installed (1), in darkened entry of upstairs guest bedroom, (2) above 2nd floor catwalk, and (3) above 2nd floor hallway near stairs. We have so much light now that we reach to turn off the light switch when we leave the area when no lights are on. Very impressed with the amount of light they bring in. As a bonus, we also received a gateway device and newer model remote opener for our existing Velux skylights, which Mike took notice of when he did the quote. The remote pairs with the solar-powered shades on the skylights to allow you to open/close the shades and the gateway allows you to download a Velux app and control the shades with your cell phone. All that work, which added an extra hour to the job, was done for free

It was a great experience overall. During my first conversation with Chris when I explained what I needed to accomplish, he suggested an alternative to what I thought I needed that was a better and less expensive solution. He was flexible when I needed to adjust the timing of the work to coordinate with my gas company and the Municipal inspector. On the day the work was done, Luke arrived promptly at the time arranged and was professional, polite, competent, and skilled. He worked quickly and efficiently and did an excellent job. Before leaving Luke explained and walked me through all the changes and how to switch from grid to generator and back. The final bill pretty much matched the estimate I was given. I can’t recommend Elia Electric highly enough

We had an excellent experience getting a new roof with JTC about six years ago, and to be fair I meant to jump on and write a very positive review then. However, we've since had some serious water damage along one section of eaves / soffit, to the point where we've now had water run down through our wall/flooring and into our HVAC ducts. I've emailed twice and called but haven't gotten any response at all. At this point, I'll try someone else, but I did have a very positive initial impression and would have thought that JTC would have at least come out to take a look at the problem for me

They were quick to set up a time to come out the next morning and call call a half hour prior to arriving just to confirm someone would be home. The two guys quickly went into the attic to start working on the issue. They were unable to locate a leak. Next step was going outside to check the unit and after attaching various devices they discoverd the compressor was the issue. Based on the age of the unit I am researching replacement (with them as well as quotes from others). Both guys onsite were very kind and seemed really concerned about making sure we were happy with the provided service - they did offer to help out with the service call price if they were chosen to put a new system

It went quite well. Weather hampered the installation, but installer kept me up to date. Installation was done quite professionally. One panel was producing only two-thirds of the others, so installer replaced it without hesitation. Am very happy with the job they did. My only negative is that they indicated my installation would just about zero-out my power bill. However, my average usage is about 30 kwh/day, and my maximum production is about 30 kwh/day. But many days produce less than the max. -- cloudy, pollen covering panels, rain, etc., so my quess is that the system will produce, on average, only half to two-thirds of our energy usage. Time will tell

Work has been scheduled for early in 2019, but they could not have been more helpful and professional in explaining our options, how our home would get the most out of the panels, and how much we are likely to save. They were explicit about costs and available rebates. We were instructed to apply for a rebate from our local energy supplier and they literally walked us through the time specific rebate procedure. We made some minor changes to their standard contract and they accepted those changes without question. I can only assume their work will be up to these standards when we do the actual installation.
