Central Carolina Air Conditioning

Took 5 hours to respond to a 'water of' situation, at 8 A.M. Had to turn off all water to house because shower would not turn off. Excessive cost. I am a long time customer of Central Carolina Heating, A/C. We have used them for dual whole house systems. The service has been good and prices high, but overall fair. Based on my long term relationship with them, I started using their plumbing service. Our opinion of the company has dropped based on their plumbing service. It has been over-the-top in pricing, and uses their position in our whole house service, to extract inappropriate service fees. We have an annual Plumbing contract to keep our system operational and prevent problems. We have used the plumbing service to fix things and replace two toilets. Today, a shower would not turn off. I had turn off all water to the house. This emergency happened at 7:30 AM. I called them at 8 AM. The service man arrived at 1 PM, 5 hours without water for a long time client, DURING THE DAY! The replacement cartridge to fix the problem, sells for less than $40 at Lowes. The charge to repair the problem was $224, for 20 minutes of work. It should have been $100 less. This does not give me a reason to use their service again

Plumber arrived as scheduled and began to remove faulty valve cartridge. There was no local cut off, so water had to be cut off to entire house. He had trouble removing the cartridge but eventually got it out. Next he went to his truck and luckily had a coulple of spares. I'm not sure what his plan was if he didn't have any - leave us without running water until he was able to find one? After much trouble he was able to get the replacement cartridge in. It didn't work properly and so he removed it and put a different one in. That one didn't work either. He tried putting the original back in, I guess to learn how they were suppose to work. By his own admission his experience was with installing new plumbing equipment rather than repairing old. Rather than let the service meter continue to run I suggested that he just replace the entire valve assembly. While he cut a hole in the wall to access the valve I went and bought a new shower valve and faucet fixture. Afterwards, he was able to get the new one installed without any trouble. The plumber was a nice guy but didn't have the experience needed to repair the bad valve. I ended up paying for extra labor time as a result

Take the smallest and darkest bathroom (walls painted eggplant and ugly brown vinyl tiles on floor; too-large vanity and cast iron tub whose frame for shower doors made it dangerous to step high up and into an unsafe slippery surface; a tiny medicine cabinet stuck in the wall beside the tub (opposite the wall where the vanity was located), a door that had to be closed in order for one to get to the toilet or tub/shower, and finally, a floor that sloped down toward the tub. What you have is a depressing little room that you want to get in and out of as quickly as possible. Within two weeks, Tom, a true professional and master of many trades, and his excellent crew--Josh and Chris--transformed this horror of a room into one that is lighter, more spacious, and more beautiful than we could ever have imagined. Now you have a room that feels so luxurious you never want to leave it! We love the gorgeous matching tile in the shower and on the floor, and the Carerra marble perfectly matches the vanity top. The new toilet is taller than the old one (a real plus for older folks), the floor is now level, and Tom's perfect moving of the door so that it now opens out instead of in adds to the new spaciousness and convenience of this small bathroom. Tom, Josh, and Chris laid dropcloths every morning from the front door back to the bathroom and cleaned up so perfectly every day we could hardly believe they had been here working. This was such a first class professional job at a very reasonable cost that we would not hesitate to recommend Tom. We feel very fortunate that we found him on Angie's List
We have used them for years. The service went nicely. The technician was on top of everything and did what he was supposed to do. He was nice and sent a report to my computer.
Matthew Hayden arrived on-time, assessed the areas that needed work, left to p/u supplies & upon his return worked for 5 hours taking care of everything! He even went above & beyond when he found that the main water line was originally placed behind the water heater, making it impossible to shut-off should the need arise. He explained the work, which I authorized, and re-routed the line so that it's now easily accessible. Matthew was pleasant, hard-working, and diligent. I was so impressed, that I already have another job in mind for him. I'd refer him anyday
They did an excellent job. I was surprisingly impressed which is the reason I am leaving a review. They had to take tile off and cut a hole in my drywall to get to the shower valve but when they were all done you could not tell at all. They also cleaned up exceptionally well when they finished which is uncommon from my experience. I will use them from now on for any of my plumbing or remodeling needs
They had to come out twice, but they fixed it. I suspect the pricing is about the same as other places, but I really don't know. Some businesses now are run by a person on a cell phone. The person doing the work is the office and you may or may not get them. They have an office that you call and schedule an appointment, so it's very convenient. They come when they say they're going to
