Deck Specialist was a fantastic group with which to work. Marlon and his team were professional, friendly people that did the work in timely fashion and on budget. I asked for some adjustments in the middle of the job. Marlon discussed any pricing differences and made those changes quickly and easily. I couldn't give a higher recommendation for Deck Specialist. I've had three neighbors come by to comment on how great it looks.

Although we signed a contract with the company in mid June and was told that work would start within 2-3 weeks, they only began working on our project in August. The company installed a composite deck which we were informed by its salesman that this was the best type of deck due to its neat appearance of not having any nail holes, unlike wood decks. However, this was not the case. Every single screw installed is clearly visible, and although the installer informed us that he questioned the company regarding the type of screws provided, the company refused to provide an alternative. After several attempts of trying to get someone in charge over the phone, we were eventually told that there was nothing they could do and actually asked us to offer a solution. Further, the deck railing is incomplete as improper angles were sent in with the materials. We have waited too long for this to be taken care of. Because of the lack of responsiveness from the company and its negative attitude with us, we were compelled to file a complaint against the company with the Better Business Bureau.

Marlon was great to work with. We contacted him to get a quote on remodeling our existing wood deck and adding an addition on as well. He was one of several contractors we called to get a quote, but was one of the few to actually get back to us. We had a quote back within a couple of days from him. During the process of getting bids for this job though we had to make some modifications to our budget. When we shared this with Marlon he was very understanding & even came back out to see what he could do within our budget. Within a week of signing a contract & putting down a deposit, he and his crew (who were all very friendly & professional) were here starting on our deck. Throughout the whole process-from beginning to end-Marlon was great about returning calls/text messages promptly. And the new deck looks amazing!!! We couldn't be happier. We got exactly what we wanted. Their work is top notch!!

The deck build itself was of decent quality and built as expected. As part of my deck build some siding had to be temporarily removed. This siding was never replaced. The flashing behind the deck was also installed incorrectly and the post holes were not filled in. After inquiring about the issues, I was told someone would return to make repairs. I was again left waiting with no repairs made and an incomplete product. After a large rain storm that resulted in flooding. My basement was flooded due to the open space left by these repairs not being made. Steve came by my house and only then made the repairs. When asked about repairing the damages to my basement, steve told me "I didnt see any damage." This made it clear that he refused to be responsible for any of his work if there was an issue. I was left to deal with the thousands of dollars worth of damage myself. In the process of talking to contractors in the area to make the repairs, i learned that Decked out has a very bad reputation and it is not uncommon for them to be hired to fix Decked outs mistakes. I would caution anyone thinking about hiring this company. You may end up with a decent product, but if there is a mistake made, Steve will not uphold his end.

I called for an estimate to build a wood deck and screened porch. Their selected contractor contacted me and we set up an appointment. The contractor did not show up and when I called him he said he forgot, but did come over within the hour. He spent about 15 minutes with us, wrote nothing down and said he would drop off a design and estimate within a few days. His truck leaked oil all over our driveway. That was 3 weeks ago and we never heard back from him. UNACCEPTABLE.
