This was the best experience we have ever had with a contractor from start to finish (and that is saying something!). Shirley came to give us a quote and it was like your favorite aunt coming to visit. She is personable, knowledgeable, friendly and NOT PUSHY!!! She is down to earth and knows her stuff (she's been doing this for 35 years!) She measured every window in our house, pulled out her calculator and gave us a price...simple! The price she gave us never changed, and EVERYTHING she said would happen did. It took three weeks for the windows to be made (in NC!) and they are GORGEOUS! Jennifer, Shirley's daughter-in-law, runs the office and is SO PLEASANT and friendly. She called a couple of times to keep us posted on progress and to answer any questions we may have thought of. Every phone call was professional and enjoyable. Jacob, Shirley's son, and his helper, Kevin, came exactly on time and explained what there were doing. They were so easy to work with and have around the house, it was like your brothers were out working on the house. They were sweet to our dogs, watched out for our backyard chickens when they went in and out of the gate. and were generally awesome to deal with. We like to talk and be friendly with people that come to the house to work, and the four of us just hit it off. We LOVE Jacob! I can't wait until he comes back to replace our siding next year. My recommendation? DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT HIRING ANYONE ELSE! Shirley's quote was LESS THAN HALF of the one we got from Reece Builders, and that didn't include the large bay window. The customer service is OUTSTANDING! This is a good quality and HONEST company... hard to find

We continue to get offers for 2 windows for the price of one. When we did the initial checking it out we figured out they had the best windows and best deals. We never had any problem dealing with them they came out on time. Everything was done perfectly. They did come back and redo a window that was like an 1/8 of inch gap at the bottom and they came right out and replaced it. Both times they did all the windows in 2 days and they were fairly large double glazed they got done much quicker than i thought they could. When they came out the first time they did a check to make sure there was no lead in the paint on the outside of the house that they were disturbing. We will use them again within the year to replace some other windows

The windows seem to be good windows. The crew that installed the windows is very professional. However, the sales person never showed up for the install or even followed up with a phone call. I was surprised because I would think if someone spent $10,000 with you, you at least should get a telephone call to see if you were happy. This is not very professional. Also, I wish I had asked for a copy of the warranty up front. The warranty was later mailed after the job was done. The warranty did not reflect what the salesperson said (yes, I feel he was deceptive about the warranty). I had already spoken with Sears and I went over what the Sears warranty offered and was told l it was the same (it’s not). If I had it to do over I would have brought from Sears who had the better warranty. Right now I like the windows and having no problems. If I do, I will right another review and let you know

We had water damage in our upper floor bathroom and wanted an honest assessment of the cause and solution. After finding Hearthside Home Exteriors on Angie's List, we contacted them and explained the issue. We received a prompt visit from the owner, Art Hudgins, who inspected the area and identified the likely cause as the gable vents which were damaged. We asked for a quote and received one via email the next day. Mr. Hudgins brought some samples by for us to select the style and color. The professionalism and no-nonsense approach of Mr. Hudgins were impressive and we decided to hire him to provide the service. Everything went according to plan. I have been wanting to hook up a rain water capture system for several years. Had everything in place but the connections from house downspouts to 1500 gallon tank I wanted the water routed to. New 6 inch gutters with leafguards last year, slopped to one end of the house, new downspouts. I had several people come out and look at what I needed but no one wanted to do it because they had "never done something like that." I tried to do it myself but quickly realized that I could not do it. Contacted these guys. They drove down, looked at the project, had some doubts, but gave it some thought. They decided they could do it and scheduled the work. They arrived as scheduled with everything they might need. They were here about 3 or 4 hours. Without supervision they went straight to work routing and installing my rain water drainage to my tank. Upon completion I was very pleased to see that the work was done very well, well thought out, well installed. No fuss, no bother, no complaints about the job. They just showed up and did the job as requested. I have had my 1500 gallon tank for 4 years now. It is finally connected to my system. Just got in a new Cub Cadet tiller. Ready for a new garden. These guys are very good, smart guys. They do replacement windows, gutters, vinyl siding, all since 1985

I've been leary of Sears for many years, long story, no bearing on this rating. The tractor, a Craftsman TS2100, was purchased about 2 years ago as a returned unit with full warranty and a 5 year service contract. The first time I had the unit serviced, the tech was quick, friendly, and I was impressed with his knowledge. He never showed up again. The second man, a nice guy who did not seem to have the same level of knowledge, visited three times since and the unit just did not seem to last until the next schedualed service. This last time, however, a new tech showed up. This man was the service manager for Sears small engine shop in the Greensboro area until Sears closed that shop. As he was also a trained teck for lawn tractors, he has transfered into this area as a traveling tech, showed up early for his appointment and finished the work on the tractor quickly and easily. He fixed the belt guide, which had been positioned wrong by the last tech, tightened the steering in less than three minutes, answered my questions easily, and finished just in front of one of the numerous rain showers we had been having around that time. I have had no trouble with the tractor since. I am highly satisfied with the work done and will now have no trouble recomending Sears and their service to anyone

I called AAA Roofing in the morning, because we concerned about the roof of our screened porch. The AAA Roofers arrived the same afternoon, and found that an area of our roof required sealing. The AAA representatives were courteous, and professional. Not only did they seal the area that we were concerned about, but they looked over the entire roof and found a vent that also needed sealing...which they did. We will absolutely use AAA Roofing and Siding in the future for the services that they provide

My wife and I attended the Home Improvement Show held at the Civic Center in Raleigh with the objective to meet replacement window dealers. To be totally honest, within an hour of arriving at the show we both felt overwhelmed from the exposure to numerous window sales people and how their window was the best. We then walked up to the Metal Works & Improvements , Inc. booth as they had windows and metal roofing (another product of interest) on display. David Logue, VP of the Company, introduced himself and utilized a low key, non pushy style to determine our interest and then provided features and benefits of the products he represented. David suggested the next step would be to arrange an appointment at our home, to fully demonstrate the Simonton Windows and take measurements to enable him to provide an estimate. We agreed to an appointment the following week. The appointment with David Logue of Metal Works & Improvements turned-out to be my second appointment of four I had scheduled with window dealers. David arrived a few minutes early for our appointment which demonstrated professionalism and a respect for my time. David's initial approach was to promote his company, his experience and the fact he is a licensed contractor in North Carolina. He took additional time to explain why it would be important for me to select a licensed contractor to perform my work whether it was with his company or not. David answered all of my questions and never tried to push anything on me. We agreed to allow him to measure my windows to enable him to work-up a quote. I received the quote by e-mail the following day. Over the next week I e-mailed David many times with all kinds of different questions. He responded to every e-mail and at one point I apologized for bothering him with so many e-mails. His response was to tell me to keep sending my questions until I had the information needed to make my decision. David never pushed me to make a decision and never used an aggressive sales tactic. My wife and I decided to purchase the windows from Metal Works & Improvements. David's crew of four installed all of our windows today. The crew arrived at the appointed time, were friendly and worked hard all day. David came by and spent a couple of hours to make certain I was happy with the job progress. The installation was prefect! After completing the job the crew leader conducted a walk-thru with me to ensure everything was too my satisfaction. They had even cleaned and vacuumed! The experience of dealing with David Logue and purchasing from his company, Metal Works & Improvements, Inc. has been a total positive experience from the first meeting to completion of the window installation today. I was so pleased I have decided to purchase vinyl siding and metal roofing from David which I will report on after those jobs are complete. Obviously, I am very pleased and can highly recommend Metal Works & Improvements, Inc. for your new windows

They did a very good job. There was an issue. They did have to come back out because I did not like the way they did the underpinning of the vinyl on the windows. He admitted that they did it wrong. They were to rush, but eventually instead of one day it took two days. It ended up being perfect. They made it right very quickly and apolegetically. There the most expensive out there. It's a higher quality product and installation. I would go with them again.
