Precision Garage Door
1.0
I am building a 12 foot by 12 foot shed. I wanted to install an 96 inch (8 foot) wide x 84 inch (7 foot) high garage door, insulated, 4 raised panel per section with an exterior handle and locking mechanism. I call Precision Overhead Garage Door of Greensboro in order to obtain a quote, and rough opening dimensions. I informed the phone representative that I was doing a cost analysis to determine if it was more cost effective to have them install the door I wanted, or to buy a door kit at Lowe's and install a side entrance door as well. I informed her that I could not lay the block foundation until I received a quote to compare as I would have to leave an opening for a side door if necessary. I submitted an online quote request on 13MAR2018. I received a call back within the hour. I informed the phone rep of my needs and was told that I would be receiving a call from the local tech the next day. on 14MAR2018 at 7:51 AM another phone rep called stating that they had received my online quote request. I told her that I had already spoken to someone the night before and that I was waiting on a call from the local tech. I never received the call from the tech. On 15MAR2018 I called them again and asked why I had not received a call from with a price quote. I was told that an attempt had been made to contact me. I told the rep that was not true as I had my phone in my possession all day and they never called. She placed me on a "high priority" list and that I should have receive a call on the 16th. I never did. I called them tonight (16MAR2018) and let them know that I found their lack of follow up as unprofessional. I also told her that it was obvious that they did not want my business, I also told her that if anyone asked me for a referral, I would have to be honest and not recommend them. I finally asked that they call as I was no longer interested in their service

It started when a representative of Dutch Barns came to the house to discuss the project and what options we wanted installed on the garage. We were given a basic estimate that broke down the costs of the basic structure, plus the additional expenses of the extended driveway, septic tank relocation, 12?x12? roof, brick veneer and foundation, thicker block, hurricane straps, electrical (including a 220V outlet), interior and exterior lighting, attic with access, phone line, cable, insulated door, side door, insulation, and drywall. From the outset we were given the option of selecting any sub-contractor we wanted, but aside from the electrical work, we let Dutch Barns select and manage them. Construction began with relocation of the septic tank, then the footings were poured and the foundation was built. We specified 8? block around the foundation even though code only required 4?. The block was set, but they used 4? instead of the 8?, but offered to fix the problem without hesitation. As a result, the garage foundation has 8? block inside 4? block inside brick. The foundation certainly isn?t going anywhere. They then built the structure with a 12? by 12? roof and attic with floor. Brick veneer was attached to the front wall and all around the foundation to match the house. We selected the same electrical and security system contractor which did the house but Dutch Barns still managed the process. We selected the interior lighting and bought the exterior fixtures including motion lights. I painted the interior to save a little money on labor, and the garage was done. They came back about a year later and fixed small warranty items such as ?nail pops? and trim issues, just as any home builder would have done. We had them upgrade our back deck while they were at it, and we plan to eventually use them to finish our basement
I started out by having three estimates done and also compared prices and installation to local major chains. Went with Carolina Garage Doors. The estimate was made within 1 day. Greg came out and was very professional and was able to quickly make some notes and recommendations. He took some exterior pictures and followed up with a nice graphic rendition of what the garage door including color I selected would look like installed on the house. My original doors were wooden and had seen better days rotting from inside out. The old openers were older screw drives and I know now they were pretty much earth shakers when they opened. I liked that Greg was not pushing or up-selling anything and instead offered ways to save on cost by reusing old openers , tracks , etc. I made the choice for a complete install replacement including openers. The installation team showed up on time as scheduled and the installation was done quick and professionally. I am a bit of a DIY type so noticed about everything done was quality - extra details in the quality rollers, heavier gauge hinges and stiffeners , ties on wiring , etc they went to to make it a very clean install. I went with the CHI doors and new Linear belt drive openers. The operation is smooth and super quiet. I highly recommend Carolina Garage Doors if your looking for a no hassle professional installation backed up with prompt local service
We had to frame in the garage opening to fit a standard garage door and they gave us very good information on what they would need structurally to support their system. Once we finished framing they came the next day and installed the complete door in just a few hours, tested it and instructed us. The door is beautiful and works perfectly. Their guaranty and workmanship are top notch
Spring broke around noon on Friday. I called Precision who last worked on our garage doors in 2011. Made an appt. for Saturday between 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. Got a call from Alex Martin of Precision about 10:00 a.m. and said he could come earlier if that was okay. I said yes. 30 minutes later Alex came did an inspection and then the work to replace the springs and do other maintenance. The Springs were replaced a no cost as they were under a lifetime warranty. I did not realize the springs were under warranty. Great news on a Saturday! I love Precision
