During my fall furnace well check-up, the tech told me my 22 yr. old furnace had significant parts near their last legs and should be replaced by spring. Spring came. I began looking for HVAC dealers and researching how to evaluate a heating contractor on the web. I had narrowed down to 2. Derousseau's was the only one (of all the other contractors in town) that was listed on the American AC Association website as a member. They had a well-put-together website that answered a lot of my questions about the brand carried, experience, their employees and their various certifications, hours, etc. When I stopped in at Derousseau's, I was pleasantly greeted and immediately taken to the owner. After telling him I was shopping around for a replacemeent furnace, he asked what I was looking for. In a clear and personable manner he explained the brand he carried, the different levels, and possible add-ons. There was an exposed furnace/ AC/ humindifier/ air purifier in the lobby. This, along with his words, was used to demonstrate the parts, level differences, filters and how to change them, etc. which was quite helpful to me. He explained the estimated prices as well as current company and state rebates. (The bid matched what was estimated.) All questions were welcome and were answered. We set a time for a visit to my house for the home inspection upon which to base the bid. The next morning the rep was on time, courteous, and professional. Again, all questions were answered no matter how basic. He checked the size of my house, current furnace and AC, vents, circuits, etc. He noticed water puddling under and around the furnace so opened the box and checked. There was a problem with the condenser and he showed me what was going on inside the unit. When checking the outside exit pipes, he detected soot. Pros and cons of the different levels of furnace based on my house needs were discussed. Early that afternoon a clear and well organized itemized bid for the two HVAC systems I was interrested in was delivered to my house. Later on , I recieved a phone call. The rep and owner were concerned about the soot that was found and offered to provide me with space heaters for safety sake and suggested I turn my furnace off. When asked about a rental fee, they said there wasn't one. When I decided which contractor I chose, I could just return them. After comparing product, cost, quality, communication, and service I chose Derousseau's.I called to let them know on Friday and installation was Monday.Installation was completed in one day. Three workers worked steadily and neatly. Derousseau's creates their own duct work when needed. All areas were cleaned well when the job was finished. I've been pleased with the process and the performance of my new furnace.
