We called every heating place in the area that we could find contact information for at the time. We asked each for an estimate. They all came to our house, looked at our existing equipment and then provided an estimate. Two of the contractors insisted on only installing systems that were not highly energy efficient, which was a feature very important to us. Others took a few days and in one case a week to send us a quote. Most were poorly dressed and unprofessional. Bruce from Hurtis actually sat down with us right away, asked what we wanted and made recommendations, providing us with a few different options. We put off the project for a while due to issues with financing. Bruce kept in contact every few weeks. The boiler we chose was our second choice. It was used for a year as a practice boiler for their repair workers to learn on. The heating element was replaced, so it was like new and offered at discount for 3700. As I understand, this is something they have one or two of once every few years, or whenever a new model they want to test comes out. We chose to get the water maker for 2000 rather than a cheap water heater as they last much longer and are more efficient. Bruce came by while the installation was going on to make sure everything was going as we wanted. He was a little slow to respond after the service, but returned my call immediately. Overall, he was very helpful and knowledgeable. They offered a Wells Fargo Home Improvements card that allowed us to finance 4300 for 15 months with no payments or interest. We were not hassled to pay the balance. We called a few days after the service to pay the rest.
