Soos Creek Woodworks

Bryon is the type of contractor a person prays for when they have to make significant investments in their homes.   Skills:  Able to do anything you need since he built houses from the bottom up for most of his career. Quality:  He won't do a job unless it will be done correctly.  No cutting corners to save a buck here and there if it jeopardizes the home's integrity or won't be up to code.   His work is 100% plumb and true.  All corners fit together perfectly. Knowledge:  We has the ability to give advice about every aspect of the job, including paint colors.  He designed options for the look of the remodel, submitted his sketches for approval and discussed each option.  He is very talented at design. Personality:  Bryon is a Montanan by birth and if you have ever met someone from Montana, dollars-to-donuts they are genuine, honest, fair, NICE, and personable.  By the end of the job we wanted him as our friend. Costs:   The most notable thing to say about Bryon is that you can trust that he won't over-charge you at any level.  He is clear about his hourly rate and he sticks to it.  An initial bid will usually be right on unless the owner requests changes or there are surprises when he opens the house up.  He will discuss the added costs along the way if the scope of work changes. Cleanliness:  Bryon cleans up as much as possible after each day's work.  Our project took weeks to complete and though it was a messy job, Bryon did his best to keep the inconvenience to a minimum. Flexibility:  I have worked with contractors and painters who were impatient and rude when I asked for changes while the work was in progress.  Bryon never made me feel that way; as a matter of fact he assured me that he wanted to do whatever I wanted so would be happy with the result. Time management:  Bryon does not over-book himself.  When he commits to your project he will stay until it is 100% complete.  He isn't in a rush to move on to the next job. Team:  Bryon's number one man who is on the job daily is Lee.  Bryon brought his brother in to help when the workload was at its peak. Together they get the job done. Bottom-line is that Bryon is so good, he can pick and choose his projects.  If he chooses yours, you will feel like you won the lottery!

Cascade Valley Construction

I have hired Thomas for three different projects and wouldn't hesitate to hire him again. After getting two sets of three bids from other contractors over a couple-year span and not feeling confident with any of them, I was impressed with the time, energy and focus he put into the bid. He listens well and communicates clearly. As issues always come up with an older house, I was grateful he had the experience and knowledge to solve unexpected problems while considering my budget. He works as hard as his crew and was willing to arrive early several times to met with me before I left for work at 7 a.m. When delays popped up due to permits, shipments, etc., he stayed in touch and kept me up to date. When a tarp was placed over a part of my roof during the project, he drove by and checked frequently to ensure it stayed in place during wind and rain storms. Thomas had no problem allowing me to paint in order to save some money, sought input from me when decisions needed to be made and was available at any time for questions or concerns. I am very happy with my family room, which is more functional than before and definitely a more appealing space to hang out in. My new garage was integrated to look like it was always meant to be a part of the house and the front porch fits in seamlessly and gets used almost daily this time of year. I highly recommend Cascade Valley Construction.

URBAN REMODELING - RENOVATION
3.0
Bill Davis sent over an inexperienced crew that was not familiar with the basic tools of the trade: a level, a square, and a measuring tape! Sure, he had his crew do everything the inspectors wanted, but the basic problems created by not leveling, measuring, and squaring have added greatly to our finishing costs and to our frustration. We wanted this remodel to be quality work but ended up with a job that is woefully substandard in many respects. The whole experience made me realize that homeowners need to carefully monitor work on a daily basis. It also made me realize that references do not always tell the whole story about a company -- particularly if the jobs referenced are much simpler ones.

Homeland Construction Specialists Inc
5.0
Homeland Construction Specialists Inc transformed our Kirkland cottage, inside and out. With Ray and Lynn Brimhall at the helm, the process went much more smoothly than expected, and our home looks wonderful. It has been an amazing process to see our home reach its potential. Quality of Work – Workmanship is high-quality, with attention to structure/code, quality materials, and aesthetic detail. The updates blend well with the existing house for a cohesive and period-appropriate look. Communication Skills – Our needs and vision were taken into account throughout. The Brimhalls have a knack for judging when to let the customer make the call and when to guide or suggest. Ray’s recommendation on cabinet providers (Huntwood), for example, set the stage for an amazing yet affordable kitchen upgrade. Worksite Management – The process was well-orchestrated to enable steady progress. The worksite was kept swept and debris frequently hauled away, and everyone was considerate and respectful of our family. Clear, accurate billing – The bills were clear and detailed, and we felt prices were reasonable. Despite multiple primary and secondary projects, and a few changes, we were never surprised by an expense. Problem-solving – As little bumps or changes inevitably arose – as expected in the remodel of an older home - Ray and Lynn worked through them with patience and creativity. Quality of Professionals Involved – Everyone associated with the project seemed skilled, personable, and trustworthy, whether as part of the contract or specialists they recommended. We’re grateful to have worked with so many terrific people, including plumbing, cabinet installation, electric, framing, siding, dry wall, tile, HVAC, painting, door installation, hardwood, masonry, and more. We’re satisfied with our choice of Homeland Construction Specialists and wouldn't consider working with another general contractor in the Puget Sound. Our only regret is we are moving out of state, and this company is one of a kind.
