Mauldin Concrete Sidewalk Installation

1. Powerwashed house - They actually did a pretty decent job. Paid too much, but that was my fault. 2.Poured concrete sidewalk: This was a fiasco, although initially the walk looked pretty good. They dumped som concrete on another area of sidewalk, cleaned it up,but looks awful. Took down the framing, but left what was stuck,owner finally came over, and attempted to fix it but still left some of he framing stuck to the concrete. Again I paid too much, and agin that was my fault.

We employed Batson Construction, Inc to pour approximately 1200 square feet of concrete at our residence which included site preparation, concrete, removal of forms and backfilling up to the new pad; for which we paid $3035.00 in full on Sept. 14, 2010. Mr. Batson operated the bobcat to remove the surface soil. He broke the water line while doing this and we paid for the materials and fixed the broken line. My husband, I and Brad Batson all agreed that he would use the remaining dirt to fill in around the concrete after the forms were removed. After the concrete was poured we discovered that we did not have any water. Mr. Batson and his crew left the job site while we had no water running to our house. He apparently went straight to the bank with our check. We later discovered that the concrete truck had broken another place in the line. We once again paid for the materials and dug up the yard to repair this broken line. It took a week to contact Mr. Batson about removing the forms and I have made three requests for an itemized invoice which he has not yet provided. One of Mr. Batson?s crew contacted us on Sept. 22, 2010 and told us that he would charge an additional $250.00 to move the dirt that is to be filled in around the concrete which was supposed to be part of the complete job. Many of the forms were ?broken off? instead of removed and there are large nails all over the area. Mr. Batson?s claim, now, is that it is not his responsibility to fill in the remaining dirt. The next week we had heavy rain and have discovered that several places on the walkway are slanted so that all the excess water runs right into the house. This man did a very poor job and is totally unprofessional.

The first contractor did not cut / grade the driveway like we asked, so we had to fire him.  The second contractor took up a portion of our existing driveway, poured approximately 8-9 yards of concrete, left & never came back.  David from HNO Grading came, gave us a quote, listened to what we wanted, graded & compacted the dirt, poured & completed my new driveway in 3 days.  So 8 months & 3 contractors later, David delivered with exactly what we wanted & what he said he was going to do.

I am a returning customer ... and very satisfied. Luis is a true professional and an excellent communicator throughout the entire project. His crew is friendly, skilled, quick, and very clean. Both jobs exceeded my expectations. His pricing is fair and he's dependable. I can't think of a single thing to improve. He's on top of it all.

They were great. They had a good price. They did good work. Their demeanor was also great. I already recommended them to one of my neighbors.

They provided very good service and they were right on time with our scheduled appointment. We were given an estimate for the cost of the work and it was very reasonable. They poured the concrete on the sidewalk from a truck and we completed the work ourselves.

I love the result, adds a great amount of space to our outside area. The pattern is beautiful. They always kept in touch and let me know when they were coming and when they couldn't. Any delays were due to the weather conditions. I appreciated the fact they were so careful about the weather, as that would have an effect on the final product.

The work was done in a timely manner and we are very happy with all we had done. We had a problem that we thought was unsolvable. Our front and rear porches and walkways were done in stones that were extremely rough and uneven. After removing them, we found a concrete foundation under both porches that were too low. However, Surface systems were able to bring up the height of both porches, add the steps, put in one walkway and level, texture and stain another walkway. All of the surfaces now blend well with the house, are the right height, have a much more even surface and are beautifully to look at. We are extremely happy with the work done. Tom answered all our questions and he and the other employees were extremely nice to work with. We would highly recommend them.

Mr. Waters came out on a weekend to give me an estimate to pour concrete over an existing deteriorating floor in my basement. I received two other estimates for the job and his was definitely cheaper than any of the others. It took him several weeks to come to and actually do the job, this was because he was pretty booked up and my availability and his availability did not match up. This is the only reason I gave him a "B." He communicated via telephone and text, which made it easy. Overall, I am very satisfied with the work that was done. There's not really a "grade" for this, but one annoying aspect was that when he came back to make breaking lines in the concrete (sawing), he left quite a bit of concrete dust on the floor which I had to clean up (not easy). I would use him again though.

In progress at this point. Kevin came out and scoped out the job. My wife had wanted to add a seating area near the retaining wall and in the hollow at the front yard and Kevin came up with a plan to add another retaining wall on the opposite side to preserve the area and provide a nice quiet zone. The earth movers were brought in the next day and they started work leveling the area. They also took down a couple of adjacent dead trees. At this time they are completing the retaining wall and will begin taking out the old damaged section of driveway and pour concrete as well as a pad in the hollow for the seating area. Will update when complete. So far the crew has worked really hard and it looks like it will be a very nice job.
