The tree removal was completed without problems. The stump removal work was not adequate and created a problem. When I met with the owner of Mastercare, Inc., to obtain a price for the work, I explained to the owner of Mastercare, Inc., that the tree stump in the path of the driveway should be ground very low beneath the surface of the surrounding ground to accommodate installation of the concrete mason's forms for pouring the concrete and installation of sufficient base material to support the driveway. The owner of Mastercare, Inc., acknowledged my comment and said that he would inform the men doing the work of my needs. When the workman arrived to grind the stump, my wife informed him of the necessity of grinding the stump very low to accommodate construction of the driveway. When the Mastercare workman left the site we could not tell how low the stump had been ground as there was a large pile of wood chips on top of the stump that the Mastercare, Inc., workman did not remove. When my landscape workmen arrived and removed the wood chips it was apparent that the stump had not been ground as requested. We called Mastercare, Inc., and left a voice mail message requesting that the stump be ground as we had requested. When the Mastercare, Inc., stump grinder came back to our home he said that the owner of Mastercare, Inc., would not permit him to grind the stump as we initially requested unless we pay a "stump re-grind fee." I refused to pay the "stump re-grind fee" and the Mastercare workman left. I will not use this company again. I am appalled that Mastercare, Inc., would charge a fee to redo work that they failed to complete properly.
