Reviews in Grove City to Repair Walls

Miller Brick & Stone
He showed up on time for the initial inspection and estimate of work.  Written estimate received quickly.  Reasonable deposit required to cover prefab windows.  On installation day, he showed up on time with all of the materials required, worked aggressively, finished in one day, great clean-up.  He was meticulous in making sure the finish inside and outside the windows was perfect, with iterative treatment and hand finishing.  He worked quickly and efficiently.  We found him on Angie's List and recommend him, without reservation, for similar work.

Makis Home Improvement LLC
Citing one example of Mr. Makis' work, we had a wall that constantly became wet resulting in considerable damage to the wall, the structure, the wallpaper. Our insurance company agreed to send someone out to fix it. After the company worked for weeks on this project, we were told that it was finished and would no longer become wet. After several weeks, which included many days of heavy rain, the wall was again wet and our problems continued. Subsequently, we hired two other individuals to fix the wall. The results of their efforts were the same as the initial company; within a short period of time, we once again had a very wet wall, with damaged wallpaper and border. After we met Mr. Makis, we hired him to fix the same wall. Mark took down shelving from one section of the wall then removed the existing plaster and everything therein down to the frame (to the wood on the inside of the siding on the exterior of the house). He found rotted, moldy wood which we had repeatedly been told had been repaired. He replaced the wood then rebuilt the wall, including the baseboard. Mark also removed old weights that were in the wall adjacent to the window in that room and were no longer necessary. Once the wall and baseboards were completely dry, Mark applied primer and paint to completely finish the repair. Lastly, he reinstalled the shelving that he had previously removed. It is now approximately six months later and the wall has remained structurally sound and completely dry! Although our house is old (built in 1949) and Mark often encounters unanticipated problems when working on one of our repairs, in every instance, Mr. Makis has creatively overcome every problem with which he has been faced.

Excellently! Lenny's crew were professional and did A+ quality work. He has done a lot of work on my house over the years and I highly recommend him. Prices have ranged from high to average, but you pay for what you get and he does great work. I have hired him again to do my front porch which is a wrap-around and is huge and I trust he will do great work again.

The drywall cracked at every seam and he gave us a pair of bath tubs that both had cracks in them. He would not repair the cracks or replace the tuba. the exhaust fan he installed was a 2 speed one but it only works on 1 speed. He installed crown molding that is not flush with the walls and the pieces do not fit where they join. On and ON and ON!!!

Weather delays put the workers behind and they had to play catch up with all of their scheduled work. They kept me informed of when they would be here and what each step would be to complete the job.

There was a lack of attention of details. The roof job was good. A strap for a side walled chimney had to be removed to preform the work. The strap was not reattached when done. Tarps were put down to catch the debris. No magnet was used in by the John Sockaci's crew during the clean up. More than a 5 gal. bucket of debris including many dozens of nail were left behind.

Thompson's Masonry Inc
Our overall experience was very positive.  Key points from our persective are as follows:  Bob and his crew were pleasant, courteous and always respectful to our input.  He provided helpful tips on keeping our stairs in top condition.  The work was completed in a timely manner (even in the wake of hurricane Sandy and all the rain).  They did a great job of cleaning up after all work was completed. In addition to how the work was completed, the work itself is wonderful.  All work looks fantastic and I am confident that we will get a lifetime of usage out of it. We would recommend Thompsons Masonry without reservation.

They did a great job for us. He is very creative with his work. I like how he draws out the whole design plan for me, and he is very meticulous. He is very neat and clean, and also responsible and trustworthy. I feel comfortable leaving the house while they are here.

Recent Review: Tom and his crew were professional and thorough. Even worked through rain to complete job.

Recent Review: We originally spoke to a rep from the company at the Home and Garden Show. We were impressed with the quality of the materials they used. We then had Michele out to our home to help with the design and provide us with a quote for the project. We ended up having a total of 5 companies give a quote for the project and they had a very competitive price. Michele was able to make our vision and all of our special requests come to life. We had them finish our roughed in full bath, install a kitchenette with water for the fridge and water/drain for the sink. The finished part of our basement was about 900sq ft. One of the things I loved about this company was that we were able to supply materials if we preferred or we could use the standard ones they supplied. The ones they supplied were perfectly fine, but we wanted to match a few items from the rest of the house and customize a few things to make the basement our style. We ended up supplying the doors, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity and light fixture, shower insert, and flooring. The Basement Guys installed everything. The plumber and electrician did a very good job and accommodated all of our requests beautifully. We added extra lighting and outlets in the unfinished area for storage for functionality. We had a few guys working on our basement but Jon was my main contact person. Any concerns I had, I spoke with Jon and he made sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. Jon was incredibly responsive and produced and excellent final quality for our basement. Both Michele and Jon were a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them to others looking to create your dream basement living environment! We are still working on painting, but will post pictures soon. We are very excited to start enjoying our new basement in the very near future. The cost below is what cost we paid to The Basement Guys for the material for walls, trim, and labor. We had additional costs for the items we provided. Had we not provided the doors, vanity, lighting, shower insert or floors, the cost (no kitchen area) would have been about $7000 more through the quote with The Basement Guys. Our total costs were $45000 including the kitchen area ($13000 for cabinets, sink, faucet, and countertops).

Recent Review: The crew did an excellent job, cleaned up when finished, and were courteous.

Recent Review: Went well. Tony was extremely knowledgeable about what trees, shrubs would be good for the application. He had ideas from the start and it did not take long to come up with a plan. He suggested things and offered alternatives. He was hands on during the whole process. The tree planted is perfect to soften the solid brick wall. He even brought two trees for me to see just so I could make the choice! The shrubs will hide the unsightly air conditioners and also provide privacy for us and our neighbors. He chose the perfect stones to help with the grade of the area. They look so nice and natural. So much better than retaining wall pavers! He planted grass in the areas that were barren from the original tree removal ( by tree service) last year. Because the area to be landscaped was so close to our neighbor's drive, with their permission, he had to use it at times. He was very careful to clean their driveway off and not leave a mess. The area is on the side of our house, unfortunately, we won't see it as often as our neighbors will!! It turned out so nice, I want him to plan something for our tired, weary landscaping in the front of our house. I would recommend him for any landscaping job. You can be assured he will come up with some great ideas. He is meticulous and you will see it in his attention to detail and the finished product.

Recent Review: I was honestly unsure in the beginning how it was going to go. The second day into the job it had looked like a bomb went off in my basement. Although my belongings were coverd and there were precautions set in place to protect my carpet from the traffic in and out of my home, I brought my concerns to the foreman's attention who assured me that when it was all said and done, my basement would look better than when they had arrived. To my astonishment the project turned out better than I could have ever imagined. To this day I haven't had a drop of water in my cellar, the walls that were reinforced havent bowed any further as the owner said they wouldnt, and thanks to the air exchange unit the musty smell is no more and my allergies weren't as bad this year as they have been in the past years. Guardian's employees were very hard workers and the foreman was very patient and informitave while answering my many questions. I have already recomended Guardian to friends and family.
