Since we were having our hardwood floor replaced, we decided the old squeaky pine stair case needed to be replaced as well. We wanted to keep the 1935 look of the rounded stair treads of the lower stair and reuse as much of the old molding as possible (that shape/style is no longer made). Jack Burnley and Son came highly recommended so we gave them a call. They arrived promptly to review our desires and gave us a few options on some of the trim. They also indicated and included a hand rail to meet current codes. They completed the stairs and all trim in 3 days. The rounded treads were made in their shop, all other trim and treads were made on site. I was impressed at how easily Scott was able to take a single long trim board and cut it out to perfectly fit each stair tread, right on site. The treads are made of 5/4 (1.25”) solid red oak to match our hardwood species, so the stain will match. More than please with the end result, a very solid stair case indeed.
