The job was bid, work started the next week. I picked out the brick at the brick company. He ordered the correct amount and arranged for delivery. The whole process took about 3 weeks from start to finish. I wanted a craftsman (arts & crafts) look and he designed a fireplace that looks like it could have been here for 50 years! I love it. See the photo. Oh, and he is tidy. He draped the work area with plastic so dust would not get on the rest of the room. He completely cleaned up each day. Very pleasant experience.

Bill Hoyland Home Repair & Remodel
5.0
We initially hired Bill to install shower and bathroom tile we purchased from Pratt and Larson for our Rummer home in Beaverton. It was not far into the project until he revealed pretty extensive mold and dry rot in the area. He went out of his way to see if other areas of the home were damaged and sure enough they were. Over the course of 3 months, Bill worked with us on a full restoration down to the studs. Bill's communication throughout this time was amazing; he was honest with us when he felt it was better to hire specialists for certain repairs (although we were amazed at what he was able to do himself). Bill was also incredibly clean throughout the project, picking up after himself each day. He would often text and send photos during the day if he had questions for us. When the repairs were complete, Bill started the tile work. His attention to detail was stunning and he approached each challenge with a creativity we were not used to from previous craftsmen. Our tile was handmade and imperfect and we still don't know how he managed to lay and finish the tile so beautifully. It's truly an art and he reminded us why not every project should be DIY. Bill is our go-to craftsmen now and we are excited to approach him for our next projects. We HIGHLY recommend him.

MICA GENERAL CONTRACTING
2.0
Once the contract was signed, he was impossible to contact. He screens his phone calls, his voice mail is usually full and won't take additional messages, and he never responds to faxes. Very passive aggressive; will agree with whatever you say, but will do what he wants when he gets to it.

Had a 150'x10' high retaining wall that fell over, Jay fixed it and even added a draining system since the wall didn't have one , looks perfect and now looks more professionally done

Dave and his crew came in and installed all three retaining walls in just one day. In course of the project they realized that the walls needed to be higher than expected and that the existing retaining walls needed to be higher as well. So after confirming with us they took out the plants from the existing beds, elevated the walls, filled up with topsoil and put the plants back in - all within the same day and just at the cost of the additional stones used. The walls look great and we are very happy with the result.

Perfect! Jozo supplied stone similar to the ones in other garden retaining walls, removed the existing collapsing wall and rebuilt it with the new stone. It looks great!

Job took two weeks end to end. The job was complex and involved tree removal, demolition, and then construction. Alex let us know what to expect and raised issues and decisions in an efficient manner. Noe and Gildardo were punctual, hard working, and took great pride in their work They worked through some wet and nasty weather and it didnt slow them down. The precision stone cutting they performed to build the wall properly really made a difference. The end result is amazing and we are very happy with the result.

The Wall

There were some challenges with the existing grades. The old wall was "flush" with neighbors retaining walls on both sides. So the lower new wall needed to match those. Also the grade of the sidewalk where the lower wall is, is sloped, while the grade of the yard where the upper wall is, is more level. The final upper wall overshot the grade of the lawn in one corner (i.e. stuck up above the grade of the lawn). In the contractor's defense even though it looked wrong to me I approved the line before they installed. Otherwise everything went really well. I had a few haggles with the site superintendent about what was included in the bid, but it was all resolved to my satisfaction. It was a bit pricey, but I really wanted the two tiered wall rather than slope to a lower wall because of a 100' fir tree in the front yard (limit soil erosion). Also, they subbed out the concrete for the stairs and walkway so that added to the cost. I have had many complements on the wall, even from folks just walking by. Very happy with the end product.

Because my backyard was very wet, we had to delay the start of the project for a few months. Dave was very responsive, and assured me that he would get to it as soon as my yard was dry enough. The backyard is difficult to get to, so all of the retaining wall stones had to be hand carried down the hill. They actually wound up building a lower wall to stabilize the ground, and an upper wall where the previous wall failed (which had been a poorly made wooden wall). They completed the job in 2-1/2 days, and I couldn't be happier. Those walls are like a fortress, and beautifully done! Also, he wound up charging less than his bid!

Recent Review: Brian made measurements, took pictures and explained the procedures they would use. His estimate was half what the other four were. This is mainly because the others insisted they had to replace the whole front door to fix the threshold. One guy said he would have to remove the sliding glass door to fix the floor. I had to wait a couple of weeks to get the estimate, but it was worth the wait. Ben did the floor and David did the rest. It took about 6 hours. All repairs were completed satisfactorily. The final bill was slightly below the estimate.

Recent Review: Our project went better then we could have ever expected. Joe and the crew did a fantastic job at communicating throughout the process. They finished the job in a timely manner, cleaned up and were very professional. I would highly recommend WPD for any retaining wall or paving job. I’ll be using them again.

Recent Review: Taylor and his crew did an amazing job on our backyard project. Stone Paving LLC built us a 4 foot retaining wall and brought up our backyard elevation. We have a large lot but it's on a hill and most of our backyard was unusable. Taylor and his crew built a 4 foot retaining wall and back filled with gravel and then closer to the top topsoil and compost. In addition to the wall and grading the elevation Taylor also coordinated the irrigation work we needed. All in all the job was seamless and only took 4 days to complete. We were very impressed by how efficiently Taylor and his team worked together. The end product is absolutely incredible and a huge, HUGE improvement from what we had before. We are so excited to actually have a big, attractive and usable backyard. Our neighbors are also loving the change. We've only had a weekend with our new wall but, neighbors are walking by and complementing us on the transformation. We've passed out a few Stone Paving Cards already. This job was a huge deal to us. For us it was also a considerable investment. We spent about a year in talks with Taylor. First for the initial bid. Then we saved and thought about a few tweaks to the plan. When we were close to having the funds we had him come out again re-bid and talk us through the whole project in more detail. Taylor is very responsive and explains the process in detail in a way that puts you at ease. I will absolutely hire Stone Paving again in the future when we work on our front yard.2qq
