Avon Lake Emergency Plumber

How did it go overall?  It didn't "go" ... at all !! I called McHugh's Plumbing around dinner time on Sunday, during their advertised work hours, and explained my emergency. Yes, it's a holiday weekend (but it's the weekend, and not the holiday), and they state 24 hour emergency service on Angie's List, and their own website says " we are available 24/7 and on holidays". I waited for a while but I didn't hear back (even to say they couldn't come out) so I eventually made other calls. One professional company returned my call within 10 minutes to say they had a lot of emergencies and couldn't accept another call that night, and another company responded, within 15 minutes and came out that evening - happily and professionally. Mr. McHugh did eventually return my call but not until the next morning. He had been out of town for a few days and returned at 11:00pm the previous evening, and was tired. Everyone is entitled to a vacation, but if this was a professional company and the owner (only employee?) chose to go away for a few days without checking messages, the right thing to do would be to arrange for someone to cover the work, or say something on their answering machine message to let people know they were unavailable for a few days, but this didn't happen.    Both of the other companies I called know how a good company does business, keeps customers, and maintains positive reviews on Angie's List. McHugh's advertises availablilty 24/7 with 24 hour emergency service, but doesn't actually do what he advertises. Do you really want to depend on a company like this?

Called for an emergency repair (leaking water pipe in ceiling through smoke detector/sprinkler head) on 12/15/2006, at 6.30pm. Reached the answering service, who promised an immediate call back, which never came, this is surprising and disappointing since they advertise 24 hour emergency service.

They are great, they will even come for emergencies, they are reachable 24 hours a day. There prices are very comparable to everyone else, I have never had anything break after they fix it. The price varies by the job.

Mr. Comerford is extremely experienced. He knows exactly how to fix any plumbing issue around the house. He cleaned up and made things neat when he left. The only drawback with him is that he is not a 24 hour or emergency service.

I called at 7:15 pm for a clogged main drain and they were there within an hour. Although they couldn't unclog it, they returned the next morning with the camera and jet cleaner and got it working.

BOB RESPONDS TO CALLS VERY PROMPTLY, AND IT''S GOOD TO KNOW HIS PAGER IS ON 24/7 IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES. HE IS POLITE, PROFESSIONAL, ENERGETIC, AND THOROUGH. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK HE AND HIS ASSISTANT JOE DID AT MY HOUSE, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE COMPANY.

This company does not provide estimates before assessing a job. They cancelled their appointment to work on our bathroom with less than 24 hours notice, leaving us with an inoperable sink and having to schedule another plumber as an emergency call.

Service was great. Had a weekend plumbing emergency and The Plumbing Source had a service person out to our house within an hour and got us back up and running. This was important because of the disabled person in the house who relies on the bathroom that had the plumbing issue. I plan on hiring them again for some future work.

We called All County Drainage Contractors on the weekend and since it really was not an emergency they came out on the following Monday and took of the problem.

The owner or someone  called back after three calls from me to the answering service. He was on his way to my home.  Then he called and said he would be delayed by another emergency. This was between 7-8pm. He told me I was not an emergency and he would be buy sometime later.  I told him I called FIRST!  Then he got feisty and said he didn't need to deal with an OLD LADY with a leaky drain in her kitchen when he had another emergency.  Then he hung up on me.  REALLY! First of all, why did he think I was an old lady--I don't think I am as I am probably younger then he?  This guy was really stressed and obviously doesn't need any new customers. He sure won't get them this way and I don't think he cares, since he blew me off.
