Fabulous!!! You're going to think I am a family member after reading my review. I'm not. I am someone who is very wary of contractors. I've had people come to my home in the past and do a poor job or be less than trustworthy. I had gotten to the point where I figured I could screw something up myself and I could do it for free so why pay someone??? Well, I have a friend who used Greg Hughes Handyman & Home Improvement in the past and really likes his work. I saw their reviews on Angie's List and nervously gave them a try. Greg came to my house and gave me a great price to build me a new deck with a 10x10 sub deck for a hot tub. I choose him because his price and availability were good. He and James removed the old 10x10 deck, propping up the aluminum awning that also needed repair. They built a rock solid deck (my horses can walk across it) exactly how imagined it, only better. The "better" came from details like installing a handrail down the steps, trimming it out and angling the ends of handrail, running the wood from the steps right into the 10x10 pad to avoid a seam between the deck and the steps, and installing boards across the bottom (because I dislike the lattice) all without me asking! They also repaired the aluminum awning and replaced split gutter and ran it off the deck. They did several things other than the deck. Multiple interior and exterior electrical projects were tackled with ease and professionalism. A sanitary hydrant that has not worked properly since a PLUMBING COMPANY installed it (Mr. Plummer, Circleville) now works as it should have all along. They repaired an aluminum awning and replaced the gutter that attaches to it. They also installed duct work which should have been installed when the house was built. The final chapter was a power wash of the deck and a clean up of the site. There are things about this contractor that make him better than most. Quality is superior. Price is fair and reasonable. Greg Hughes will clearly tell you if a task is not within their expertise instead of going ahead and doing something sub par. They are very trustworthy (I had no problem leaving the house open when I left for work) and considerate. An example of being considerate: they dug some holes while I was at work. When I came home each hole was clearly marked so I would not step in any of the holes. Honestly, I have never had a contractor behave in these ways. By the time all was finished I really felt that my experience of the process was important to Greg. It is really nice to know that you don't have to be wealthy to get great work and be treated really well. Thank you Greg, and James, for everything you did.
