The project started in the late fall of 2013 with the initial consultation. We were considering one of three area companies. Nature's Design had the best ideas and design. Pricing was similar with all companies. The work started in the fall with the rip-rap and the flagstone patio near the lake and the granite stairway beside the house. Weather stopped the project until spring. In the spring of 2014, the work resumed. the project was expected to take 6 weeks. It lasted much longer due to weather conditions. We experienced a very wet summer and with our property being on a slope, much time was spent waiting for the ground to dry out and firm up. The project took until late fall to complete with some alterations performed in the spring of 2015. With the slope we have and the design of our house, there were water issues with heavy rainfall (4" in a couple of hours) and water entered the house in the basement. This has been a problem since the house was built by a contractor I will not review. The landscaper was called and responded immediately and during the rainstorm to assess the situation. They returned the following day and installed drains in the gardens to move the water away from the house. Additional drainage was added to other parts of the yard to help control the water that comes off the roadway during heavy rains as well. If the weather had cooperated throughout this project or if we would have had a nice, normal, flat piece of property, it would have taken far less time and fewer repairs of completed work, but we would not have the beautiful yard we have now. In the end, we are very pleased with the contractor, his crew and the finished product. We have added additional bits and pieces to the project and hired the contractor to do additional work at our business, which is progressing nicely. Our relationship with the contractor has become like family. We have introduced him to neighbors and friends that he has now done work for too. They are as pleased as we are.
