1st Choice Inspection Service

Paul was great to work with. Upon contact Paul indicated he was booked solid for the following week but offered to come out on Saturday. Paul showed up early but still spent over 3 hours going through the house in meticulous detail. He climbed on the roof, got in the attic, crawled under the cantilevered windows, etc. If it was safe to access he was there with his flashlight. I have had home inspectors that were knit-picky about silly little things and other inspectors that missed major issues. Paul had the right amount of detail without freaking out my wife that we were about to buy a lemon. He also helped with suggested fixes for all the items he found. By far this has been my best experience with a home inspector. I highly recommend.

Randy was a pleasure to work with. He actually arrived early and was methodical as he checked every inch of the house. He explained issues uncovered to me throughout the inspection in terms I could understand. He spent over 5 hours during the inspection. His final report was exemplary. It contained pictures along with descriptions of the problems uncovered. I have emailed him follow-up questions since the inspection and he always responds in a timely fashion. He is well worth the cost. I would HIGHLY recommend him for anyone needing a house inspection.

Very well. Tom was recommended by my realtor, who has used Yom's services on many occasions. Tom was punctual, well-prepared, and thorough. He pointed out areas of potential or actual concern while I was present and asked if I had any questions or concerns. I was very pleased with his services.

Called A.R.M.S., Inc. to get a replacement unit since the exhaust fan failed again (it's the fourth in 7 years, by the way)! The original quote says "Fan warranty is 7 years" Two weeks ago the fan broke down again. I called Mr. Phil Noack and his first question was how long ago it was installed (it's 3 weeks short of 7 years). He immediately started giving me prices for a new fan and installation, because the fan is "only warranted for 5 years", said him. I told him that the papers I have say 7 years, he restated that the warranty is only 5 years. I told him I was going to check the papers again and hung up. The next day I faxed him a copy of the invoice and quotation which showed 7 years. I called two days later and he then told me he was out of town, only coming back "next week". I called a week later and he told me that he was still "out of town". Afraid he was trying to let the warranty expire then tell me I never called before, I followed up with a certified letter. The next day I got a phone call from him saying that even though the actual installation happened "beyond the quotation 30-day expiration time frame" he was going to send me a replacement fan. The invoice is 32 days after the quotation!!! (no mention on the invoice that the "7 year" didn't apply anymore...) To my surprise, the next day I receive a 2-1/2-year old, dirty, used fan! You can imagine I didn't bother installing this "replacement" fan and bought a new one from another source. I don't recommend using the service of a tricky business like this.

I called AQC and scheduled them to install a radon-reduction system in my home. The installer came to my house on the specified day and installed the system. The installation was very neatly and professionally done, and the installer was a nice, personable guy who explained the system to me, told me how to read the gauge and make sure it was working, and left me a couple of test kits so I could test the radon levels after the system had been working in my home for a few weeks. Thirteen days later I noticed that the system was no longer operating. I called AQC. They told me to unplug it for 24 hours and call them back if it didn't work when I plugged it back in. It did not, so I called again. They said that my fan was under warranty, but that I would have to pay a $149 service fee to have someone come out and put in a new one. I explained that I felt that this was unfair given that I had just paid nearly $800 for this system, and it had not even worked for two weeks! I asked to speak to a manager, but the person I was speaking to on the phone said one could not come to the phone at the moment. I asked for a manager to call me back. No manager returned my call, and no manager could come to the phone when I called back again a few days later. On 9/30/2011, after waiting a week to see whether a manager would call me to resolve this problem, I filed a complaint with the BBB of Detroit & Eastern Michigan. On or about 10/21/2011, after receiving my complaint from the BBB, AQC called me and scheduled my FREE service call, and another friendly installer came and replaced the fan in my system on 10/31/2011, and it has since been working properly. I would comment on the effectiveness of this system, but because of the long wait for complaint resolution with the BBB, this system STILL hasn't been operating for two uninterrupted weeks in my home, so I haven't been able to do a followup radon test yet. *sigh* However, if the radon test is not favorable, I will update this report further. This company does *not( stand behind their product, and they will *not* willingly fix their systems without a $149 fee, even if it's less than 30 days old! I think that is reprehensible. One should not have to file a complaint with the BBB to get service on a brand-new installation! I couldn't find this company on Angie's List before contracting their services because they're located in Lansing/Ann Arbor, but they do advertise and do work in the Portage/Kalamazoo area. I *should* have looked this company up elsewhere online before I hired them. There are many reviews around the internet telling of terrible service from this company. I would never hire them again, and I would never recommend them to a friend.

ALLHOME INSPECTION, LLC

I spoke with John, and he was able to schedule the inspection quickly, and accomodate our schedule. He showed up on time, and began his inspection outside. After spending hours outside in the VERY cold weather, he came in to inspect the inside of the home. After six or seven hours of inspecting, he walked through the home and explained everything he witnessed and tested. He was incredibly thorough. He was patient in explaining everything to me, and pointed out evidence of everything he found, in addition to photographing and video recording his findings. We hired him as our inspector even though the seller's had provided their own inspection report. John found many things that were not included in the seller's report. I have had to contact him a couple times to ask questions for clarification and recommendations about who to contact for quotes for repairs, and each time he responded quickly and thoroughly. It was really a great overall experience. The home he inspected was over 5000 sq ft, and unfortunately, had lots of issues, which should explain the length of the inspection and the cost.

Tom is great at his job and very detailed with his home inspection report. The document we got back had pictures with all of the problem areas. We have used Tom before and plan on using him in the future for our next investment property. The price of service was comparable to other vendors that we had called but we feel that Tom goes the extra mile and is extremely professional. The price quoted was for a 3000sqf multi unit home that had a lot items to inspect. As always Tom rocks and is highly recommended.

Recent Review: Words cannot express how positive our experience was with Homespect Inspections. My fiancé and I are buying our first house and were very overwhelmed with who to hire to perform our house inspection. We've heard horror stories of inspectors whose subpar performance lead to some major problems once people moved into their house. After hearing from a friend that they had a wonderful experience with Homespect Inspections, we decided to call and schedule an appointment. From the very first phone call I knew that I would be receiving a high quality inspection. Jim Willis stayed on the phone with me for about 30 minutes at around 5:00pm on a Friday, discussing in detail what the inspection would entail and thoroughly describing the Radon testing process. We decided to schedule the inspection for a Friday afternoon to fit my schedule which made me nervous at first because I thought he might try to rush through it so that he could begin his weekend. However, I could not have been more wrong. Jim performed an extremely thorough inspection that lasted around 4 hours. Another thing I was concerned about was Jim being annoyed with me for wanting to be at the house for the entire inspection. Those concerns were quickly dismissed when he told me it would be no problem and that "two eyes are better than one". He took the time to explain each of his findings and even offered some quick do-it-yourself fixes that I really appreciated since I am a first time house buyer. After the inspection, the report was provided to us within 24 hours. It was extremely detailed (20 pages) and included pictures. He also provided a cost breakdown for repairs of identified defects. I think the greatest thing about our experience with Jim is that he made us feel like he genuinely wanted to help identify and resolve issues to ensure we were buying a quality house. I promise that if you go with Homespect Inspections you will find yourself writing the same review as this one. Couldn't have asked for a better company and inspector. The quality and professionalism was outstanding.

Recent Review: From the beginning to the end, the service was exceptional. The craftsmen and site manager were knowledgeable and skilled. The work was completed on a acceptable schedule and we were kept informed about any and all delays and unexpected needs. As with any older home there were some unforeseen circumstances. The jobsite was kept organized and the area was policed and cleaned at the end of each workday. My wife and my needs and comfort were always considered. This was a huge commitment for us to invest in our home and we feel that we were treated well and our needs were considered and met at every juncture of the job. We are very pleased each time we drive up to our house, open one of the new windows, enjoy the quiet, and realize the savings from the investment. We feel that our money was well spent and our needs were met. BWB not only dealt with the nuts and bolts of the home improvement, but evaluated energy needs and explained the concepts and they were instrumental in the financing of the project. Suffice it to say, we are pleased and wouldn't hesitate to recommend BWB to family and friends.

Recent Review: Tom with Homewise was fabulous! He was extremely prompt in getting in touch with me and/or returning phone calls and emails. He was super friendly and very pleasant to work with. The inspection report we received was more thorough than any I have received in the past. It has been 10 years since we've bought a house and technology has advanced, but it was super cool to have pictures that went along with everything in his report. I would absolutely recommend him and will certainly use him again if needed! Thank you!!

Recent Review: The level of Radon in my basement was 18 pCi/L. I had a number of estimates that guaranteed up to 4pCi/L after installing their Radon mitigation systems. The only company that guaranteed 1.5 pCi/L was Lifetime Radon Solutions (Scott Campbell). In addition, the price he quoted including parts and labor was the least of all estimates. After the system was installed, the actual Radon level has now settled at 0.3 pCi/L. The job was started on time, finished ahead of time and within budget. Great job Lifetime Radon Solutions!

Recent Review: Radon Russ was the best! I could not have expected it to go better and turn out better than it did. The competitive price was unmatched by any other company, and the quality was impeccable. The radon mitigation system is completely effective providing extremely low radon levels, and the location and aesthetics of the system itself are better than I could have envisioned. Radon Russ positioned the system to go through the garage and out the attic, without any up-charge! No other company would have done that. Radon Russ was professional, punctual, and an expert at his craft. He even did a little caulking and rewiring! I will definitely recommend Radon R Us to anyone in need of a radon mitigation system.
