I'll start of by saying the quality of the deck in itself is fairly good work. However, I would not recommend this contractor to anyone. First, Greg is a poor communicator and it reflects in his work and follow-through of the planned deck we really wanted. It also reflects in his verbal quote was $3,500 and the paper quote came back at $4,500. He took days to respond to texts, if at all. He made promises to come out and work and wouldn't show up. I conveyed the specific deck that I wanted, only to come home to a foundation and holes dug that were not carried out the way I asked for. Now, Greg had my fiancé sign a blank building permit and added the drawing later, which was not what I asked for. I never saw the building permit, never saw the drawing, did not know what he was doing until I came home from work and saw that it was laid out wrong. Recognizing Greg put in a lot of work, I asked him to simply dig new holes and place a staircase in a different location, to avoid completely blocking a bedroom window. Even though it's not what I completely wanted to begin with, I compromised with Greg and figured he would do the same. After all, the work started a month after we first met, and was already more than a week past it's promise date. More promises to finish by the weekend were made, and yet, it wasn't finished until weeks after it was initially promised. Then Greg turns around and bills me for his additional labor materials, and redoing a building permit, even though it went against my initial instruction. I tried to compromise with Greg on the additional amount he asked for, yet he wanted all of it. I paid for additional materials and told Greg he was responsible for labor and the drawing. When I told him I shouldn't have to pay for his mistakes, he threatened to come and tear it down. Then he hired a debt collector, whom threatened to put a lien on my house and force foreclosure, then continued on to threaten to come after me if I post reviews on social media or forums such as this. So, he put me in a position where I felt forced pay otherwise I'd lose my home. I don't have the deck I wanted to begin with and have dealt with the stress this experience has placed on me and my family.
