Hooked On Construction

Arrived on monday at 9am as agreed. Keith made quick work of the first side of the wall demolition. The most impressive aspect of his work throughout, and at the end of the first day; was how clean he maintained the work area! So, he worked quickly and cleaned things up as he worked. A very cool thing is that he used visqueen and collapsible poles to barrier off the work area, again with keeping the work area and more importantly the non work areas separated and clean. As he finished the demolition of one area, he and quot;finishedand quot; off the edges of the work area to provide a clean edge to work with for future finishing work. The second day, again arriving promptly, he set up structural supporting walls, removed the walls 2x4's and and installed the header beam. The last day, he tore down the living room side of the wall. Again keeping inside and outside work areas clean with visqueen barriers and paid special attention to the hardwood floor by protecting it from damage. He finished the job as specified and removed all the demolition material. Overall, completely professional craftsmanship and work ethic.

STODDARD CONSTRUCTION

Mr Stoddard entered a bid that was well under what a couple of competing contractors offered. Work started after a contract was drawn up. He works fast, by himself most of the time so labor costs are kept to a minimum. Very satisfied with the results so far. He actually directed me to another job he had completed to give us an idea of what the end results would look like. He had great input on some additional items were were not entirely sold on. Nice gentlemen to work with and very professional to deal with. I would hire him again!

REMCO Sprinkler & Landscaping
5.0
REMCO started the job the same week in April that we signed the contract. They worked every week until it was finished, except for an extra load of rock to be delivered after the spring and summer rains packed the first rock and dirt down. The pad and walls were excellent. The castle wall system even included a drainage system. Throughout spring and summer the rains created some erosion around the edges of the pad and wall surfaces. It took several requests to remind REMCO to deliver the second layer of rock, which had been paid for once the pad was completed after the first layer of rock was placed down. The second layer was finally delivered late October after several calls and texts, to remind them we still had serious need for the last rock layer prior to winter. It became a bit frustrating getting promises for 3 months to deliver the rock, but it finally got done after some persistence on our part.

They had to pull up all the carpet and take it from the house to clean, and paint the walls, and bore holes to treat mold. And then they repainted downstairs. They did it all in a week and it looked very nice.

Hummingbird Construction
5.0
Excellent! Dave from Hummingbird Construction and his partner, Steve Howlett are knowledgable, hard working, conscientious workers who take a lot of pride in their work. Besides doing construction, Dave does tile work. I purchased real stone to be placed on the full wall behind the free-standing fireplace. This stone is also installed below the window sills. Then 18 x18 tile flooring is on the floor and on the upper wall around the windows above the window sills. Transition tile was laid between the existing wood flooring and the 18 x18" tile. The transition tile are small pieces of stone of varying sizes.

Dale Miles Construction
5.0
The window was placed by another person and was not finished, they left a gaping hole below the window where a pice of plywood was leaned up against to keep from showing. There were no screws, insulation or anything to keep wind, water animals or people for that matter out. I had Dale Miles come to finish instaling the window and he not only reinstalled the window he also made the wall more sturdy and insulated it for no extra cost. He was finished in 1 day.

OUTBACK LANDSCAPE INC
5.0
Outback Landscaping was great to work with! Chase listened to what we wanted for this area, how we would use it, and our budget for the project. He presented us with several options/plans for the area and modified those plans to accommodate our requests and our budget. All of the staff with Outback were professional and friendly and respectful, and responded to our needs. The work was completed in a timely manner, given that there were some occasional weather issues. The finished product is beautiful and is a space that we greatly enjoy and love to spend time in! We receive many compliments on our backyard area! We highly recommend Outback Landscaping!

Recent Review: Rodrigo and his crew did a wonderful job. He was very competitive on pricing and was willing to do the job, even though there were access issues that made the job more physically demanding. He was timely, completed the job quickly, and went above and beyond what I had asked for. I would definitely hire again.

Recent Review: The owner, Sean, was prompt regarding the initial assessment visit and price estimate. Two men (JT and Matt) were sent out to do this work. Took approximately 3 days to complete (a total of about 15 hours). They were very professional and communicated well regarding the work needing to be done as they pulled old tile off of the floor and wall to make the necessary and appropriate repair. They were very thoughtful regarding the project, kept the area cleaned up at the end of each work day, and the work completed was of EXCELLENT quality! Highly recommend.

Recent Review: Eric and Devon, his assistant, were sensitive to our creative ideas, even suggesting some of his own which were a perfect complement to the additions. The pergola had to be installed by fastening it to an existing overhang on our deck, and then extending out 14' to be secured in a high bank. This was not an easy task as the ground was seriously uneven and the extended eaves on the deck was also off plumb. He managed to make everything level and even the 4' overhanging eaves looked perfect. All of the joists of the pergola were vinyl sleeves which had to be filled with 2x6 lumber. The legs have steel posts inside and they were set in concrete. The steps are rough finish so that no one can slip in the winter, and they are shallow rise and deep treads, making them easy to use for older people or someone carrying a bulky load. They fit perfectly with the look of the stone wall and the extended pergola over the bank. he also arranged to have additional soil added to fill in the bank - at no cost. Everything Eric did was carefully thought out and beautifully executed. He has not only building skills but landscaping background so this was a perfect project all around. He turned a truly ugly, weedy bank and hot back yard into a cool and tranquil and quot;secret gardenand quot;. We are busily thinking up more projects so we can get our home in shape, finally, after years of making-do. We could not be more pleased with his efficiency, economy, great ideas, and excellent personality.
