Did not follow the kitchen plan as developed by Home Depot.  Did not align cabinet doors when asked to do so.  Did not level bathroom floor prior to tile installation resulting in a crack in the tile under one fixture.  Kitchen sink leaked after installation.  Immediately after installation, kitchen sink did not drain due to the location of the P-trap with respect to the vent.  Tub overflow was not connected, resulting in a significant amount of water leaking out when bathtub was more than a few inches full.   Did not install kitchen crown molding, base molding and cabinet filler strips as required.  When instructed to do so, they displayed anger and damaged the ceiling.  Shower faucet would not provide warm water after installation.  A1 management (the installer) said the fixture was faulty.  Another staff member fixed it.  Kitchen faucet was initially installed improperly and A1 management stated that it was working as designed.  Faucet instructions and specifications said otherwise.  A staff member fixed the issue by reinstalling it.  During their work on our project, on numerous occasions we observed A1 management using abusive and obscene language to retailers, service providers, sub-contractors.  After we posted a review that listed the above issues, A1 management used similar abusive language and issued threats.  I have the text of the message that was sent to me.

Orange Avenue Roofing
My daughter hired Orange Avenue Enterprises in good faith on the advice of her realtor and because Anthony Roy (the owner) was recommended on Angie's list. She contracted for the above items and Mr. Roy told her that his company was quite capable of handling the work. The original work started in June 2013. Mr. Roy was paid a deposit for starting the work. He never was on the jobsite and had a subcontractor run the project. This subcontractor also was hardly ever there. The actual workers were inexperienced and by the time my daughter realized that things were not going the way they were supposed to, it was August. When I went to her house, I was shocked by it's appearance. The house was in shambles. The kitchen was ripped out and she had been living that way for 2 months! Her master bathroom was completely gutted down to the sand/mud floor. The house had a horrible odor and my daughter told me that she had been really sick and she didn't know what was wrong with her. She had been missing work and I could tell that there was something seriously wrong with her. I contacted Mr. Roy and he came over to discuss the job. He told me that things were going along as they should and his workers were getting ready to put in the kitchen cabinets as soon as they came in. He also told me that he had ordered the cabinets weeks ago and he wasn't sure where they were. I called the company he said he was dealing with and they looked up his order and told me that the cabinets were ordered about a week before, not weeks before as he claimed.  As long as they were ordered I figured that my husband I would give him a chance to finish. We spoke to my daughter (who had been hospitalized 2 times with this "unknown" illness) and she said that she kept giving Mr. Roy money when he asked for it and she had already given him more than $20,000 of her savings. She had hardly any more money left. I called Mr. Roy again and he said that things were more expensive than he had anticipated and he needed more money to complete the work. He wanted $10,000 more, and in good faith I told him we would meet him halfway and gave him $5000. Things went from bad to worse.  His workers were destroying the house. The ceramic tile was laid and was chipped and the grout poorly done. The kitchen cabinets came in and were all upper cabinets. There were no drawers in the kitchen cabinets and the layout was ridiculous.  You had to walk sideways to get into the kitchen from the door.  The master bathroom was a mess. They installed the tub on the dirt/sand and never put any support under it.  At this point my daughter was on medical leave and she was getting sicker. I moved in with her to help her. Mr. Roy would not return my phone calls and the few times he did, he was getting an attitude with me. Finally on September 19, 2013, I called and emailed Mr. Roy and told him we were done with him and he was no longer allowed on her property. His response was to send me another bill for close to $20,000 that he claimed my daughter owed him. At that point I called the city of Orlando building inspector. He came out to look at the house and told me that almost everything was done wrong and not to code. He was shocked when he looked at the plumbing and electrical. He told me that there were no p-draines and that the smell we had been smelling for months was actually methane sewer gasses. He couldn't believe when he took down the drywall and saw how the tub had been installed. He told me to get my daughter out of the house and hire licensed and insured plumbers and electricians to go over everything. He also told me that he had researched Orange Ave Enterprises and Mr. Roy was licensed, but he had no insurance and had not pulled a permit since 2006. He also tried to talk to Mr. Roy about giving some of the money back to my daughter, but he would not. We called in licensed contractors who literally had to remove walls and redo the electric and plumbing to make the house safe. Then we had to hire other contractors to completely redo the kitchen (we had to rip out the original cabinets) and most of the master bathroom. We also had to redo all the ceiling fans- they were screwed into the drywall- no boxes in the ceiling. Overhead lighting, plugs and outlets were redone. We had to have the tile repaired where the chips were and where they had nail gunned the cabinets into the floor. Where the walls had been taken down, our contractor found that the columns that were there had not been done correctly, and he had to redo those. We had a contractor reorder the whole kitchen and design the kitchen into a functioning one. He also fixed her bathroom -he had to literally take down one of the bathroom walls and pour cement in to hold up the tub. He had to retile parts of her bathroom, including the tub. My daughter ended up in the hospital and had to have extensive GI surgery. The doctors were not sure, but they felt that it was caused by neurological issues that may have come from months of breathing in sewer gasses. She missed months of work on medical leave. My husband and I had to pay the rest of the bills for the work that was done. My daughter is recovering and finally back to work. The house is almost finished, but what a price to pay! I want people to know that if Orange Avenue Enterprises is doing work on their homes, beware. Mr. Roy may be a licensed contractor, but he hires inexperienced workers who do not know what they are doing. Not only was the work done a disaster, but it was dangerous and my daughter had to pay the price for her poor health- literally and figuratively.

Precision Carpentry & Remodeling, LLC
John is a true artisan ? in other words he is a craftsman who takes great pride and precision in his ?creations?, as opposed to a ?handy man? that just gets a job done and calls it good enough. We hired John for a custom built-in wall unit, some tile work, remodeling, kitchen cabinets and trim work.  In  all cases, he patiently worked with me in reviewing my draft designs and specifications, taking the time to listen to and understand my ideas and goals, and then made suggestions that improved the overall project.  John always thinks out-of-the-box to meet a customer?s needs.  This is really refreshing since I spoke with many contractors that offered me only one option, and in some cases said they could not do what I asked. John has always found a way to meet my custom requests even if it meant a little extra time and adjustment here and there.     Most importantly, he takes care in executing the project with precision ? in fact on our kitchen remodel he corrected issues from one of the other contractors on the project, and was a miracle worker as he found a way to level our uneven concrete slab so that the 20 inch tiles laid in a diagonal brick-yard pattern were perfectly even.   For our back splash, I gave him a custom design using multiple patterns and tiles ? I knew I could only trust John with this project.  Just as with the floor, he used great care in measuring, using spacers, and levels to ensure that it was straight and matched the ?model? I provided.  His attention to detail and creativity made our tiny kitchen come to life with style and functionality.  He suggested a cabinet supplier in Oregon that provided the best quality ready-to-assemble cabinets, built to the quarter of inch (practically custom!), and at a lower cost than competitors.    Our kitchen was a real challenge because of the space constraints, but the use of Rev-a-Shelf and custom (built by John) pull-outs, drawer inserts, lazy Susans, extra shelves, and more, allowed us to use every inch of space.  He provided options I was not aware of.   Our kitchen transformed from a 1980 galley vacation ?beach bungalow?, to a spacious, inviting, high-end 21st century dream kitchen.
