Over the years, my husband and I have gone through many sub-contractors for various home re-modeling projects. When we first called Michael Shaw, he told us he had a big job coming up within the following 2 weeks, but arranged to come give us a ,financial and time estimate of what our project would take. We had just had to re-pipe our entire house, causing our master shower to be completely torn down including the shower pan, and a huge drywall hole that went straight through the other side to our living room (for a while our cat thought that hole was her private pet door to get into the bathroom where we feed her) ! Mike showed up promptly as planned, and although this shower basically had to be completely re-built (it was a disaster !!!), Mike assured us he could get our job done in about a week, and could start working the following day. Well, we took the leap, and trusted yet another sub-contractor. We were concerned only because of our past experiences/promises from other sub-contractors, and worried that if he wasn't able to finish our project, he would take off for his upcoming new and huge job ($$$), and we'd again be stuck with living with a half-a** construction mess. We agreed on his proposal, and signed him up. Mike said he'd be at our house at 7:00AM the next day to start.....(yeah....right...like that was going to happen). HOLY SMOKES !! Sure enough, at EXACTLY 7:00AM the following day, who comes energetically hopping out of his van collecting his needed tools, in comes Michael Shaw bouncing with vigor and enthusiasm. I was so flabbergasted (how could he possibly be so cheerful and and quot;work readyand quot; my grumpy brain asked...??). Ten minutes later, Mike began re-building and re-designing our shower. Now, mind you, he was designing this shower specifically for my R.A. disabilities, making it not only a safe haven for me, but offering once again, a chance to actually enjoy (and not dread the usual painful cleansing experience). He was able to add 4 blessed inches to the width of the shower, made a big, beautiful, comfortable tiled bench-seat, a built in soap/shampoo and quot;shelf boxand quot;, and topped it off with placing 2 safety bars, perfectly placed. For the first time in two years, instead of crying in pain, I filled the entire bathroom with my cackled, off-beat singing. Instead of being exhausted, I now had much more energy and strength to devote to the follow-up grooming/dressing nightmare. I admit, there were still tears. BUT......these were tears of gratefulness and joy. Day after day, the perky, energetic and darn neatest/cleanest worker I've ever seen, showed up PROMPTLY at 7:00A.M. (I'm sure you know the kind of workers that at day's end, they leave a nasty mess). Although pleasant, professional and patient, this guy is an amazing and quot;work-horseand quot; !!!! And, as happens with most re-modeling/construction projects, on the occasional and quot;snafuand quot;, Mike was already offering suggestions as to how to change or fix the problem at hand. After completing the shower stall (gorgeous!), he proceeded to re-doing the bathroom floor. We had the old, old and quot;1and quot; tiny square (pink, no less! tile). To help save us $$, mess and time, Mike assured us he could tile right over the old floor!! Well....what about the 2 doors getting in the way, we asked. No problem says Mike. All he had to do was shave off a little bit of the bottom of the doors and and quot;voilaand quot; ! Another and quot;challengeand quot; by Mike solved. As promised, ONE week later, we are the very proud home-owners with a stunning master bathroom !!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, MR. MICHAEL SHAW !!!!!!!!! NOTE: Mike, if you read this, please accept my apologies for not writing this review immediately, as I had promised. I got a nasty and quot;R.A.and quot; flare-up, and was bed-ridden for a bit. There aren't enough words to thank you for the terrific job you did. You may have even saved my marriage !!!!
